There's a tradition among farmers in the midlands that "Whitethorn will always get revenge". Inevitably as part of good farming practice and hedge-minding, some whitethorn will have to be trimmed back or removed. But it is impossible for any person to carry out such an act without suffering some small injury. Usually it's a few thorns in the hand or face for good measure (with that added little bit of toxic whitethorn sap that causes a nice swelling) but quite often it's something more serious! It's a tradition in Longford not to cut a whitethorn with a chainsaw as you're more likely to cut off something of your own! Either do it by hand and take your punishment... or get someone in a tractor with the protection of a metal cab to do it! They trees have protectors, but these ones can also protect themselves!

The Witch transforming into a Dog sounds like the Navajo Skinwalker.

Since Samhain, I noticed a lovely tree with red berries every day. I was going to pick a branch for my alter. I usually leave some hair where I cut the branch. I think I’ll pass on that idea.
