Huge Main Setup Overhaul
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 жов 2024
- This is a slight, temporary departure from my long-running office build series. I had an 'urgent' main setup overhaul that needed to happen sooner rather than later. The main goal with this change is simplicity. I've stripped back all of my unused equipment, slimmed the setup down and relocated the desk to a more convenient position that works for the room in a better way.
Future tweaks to this setup will be shown in other videos and as part of the main office build series.
Thanks for watching! I hope you all enjoy...

Time to stop all my other important duties to watch this. Finally, glad to see you back.
Tom talking about lightpods is like weaponised UA-cam nostalgia! Great to finally see a new video from you, dude!
Great to see you back Tom, it's a shame you can't do more regular vids as you do really have a great calming voice and as always full of enthusiasm!
hmm. an hour of IMNC computer setup... this is gonna be wonderful
I am so glad to see you do a new video. And I am very pleased to see that it is a set up video. Please keep them coming. It’s been a long wait.
Before I watch the video I’d just like too say glad to have you back! See you in another two months! All the joking aside it’s nice Sunday treat. Hope the fam is doing well.
Great to see things moving on n forward also to see you once again.. think I’ve missed your appearance on here... Tom
That new setup is a lot less busy, that's pretty nice. I have a bad habit of making busy setups because I think I'm going to use all the things.
Yay a new imnc video can’t wait for part 6 network
Nice a long sweet setup video from IMNC I cant wait to watch it
Was just wondering where you went!! Glad you're back, hoping for more frequent uploads
i know Im asking randomly but does anybody know a way to log back into an Instagram account..?
I was stupid lost the account password. I love any help you can offer me
@Callum Royal instablaster ;)
@Kristopher Charles Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm.
Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Kristopher Charles It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thank you so much, you saved my account!
@Callum Royal happy to help :)
Me my brother and my dad all use focusrite equipment it's fantastic.
Perfect Sunday treat.
What you going to about the chair - when you working at the other two desks. It is a risk lifting that heavy big chair over your monitors etc. I am thinking it would be better to get a new desk that fit it against the wall with all the current desks/benches
glad to see u back tom hope that u are all doing well and pleas get an upload schedule please!!!!
Even if you don't upload frequently I love every video you upload! (Also good timing I was just watching some of your old videos today)
Hey, a new video! Missed it a couple months back. Next thing you need is a small CRT. Something portable, like the PVM-5041q. Small, has a carrying handle, takes 12V DC in, RGB/YPbPr/Composite... Wonderful little thing. :D
Tom so good to have you back! If you get annoyed seeing cables from the "back" of the desk... why not use a piece of cloth to cover the back?
Loving the new setup.. would be great to know the cable tidying "clip" that you use to sort the cables out (the ones you can screw in to the desk).
PS I have JUST sent you an e-mail :-)
Definately worth having your G4 on the desk it looks amazing!!
Superb video mate. Always happy to watch you.
yess tom u just made my night good to see u back dude
Just finished the video. Only 1-hour-long video that I watched in it's entirety in a while . Cheers.
Glad to see you back- it’s been ages!
About that speaker orientation flipping - you could just put the speakers "the wrong way around" and plug the inputs in accordingly and the result would be exactly the same.
Awesome to see you back! I love your content and a video from you is a welcome addition to my day. I hope you are well and I loved the video.
Nice to see a new video from you! You still doing sound and lighting for stuff?
Thanks man! Yes I am, bought an M-Play this year, still deciding wether it's for me or not. M-PC is great though!
I've let go of my personal PA system because I wasn't using it enough, always using other gear... I installed it in the venue I work in and it's sounding great. That's about it for gear updates :)
@@ItsMyNaturalColour ah nice. Well it's good to hear you're still doing that sort of thing!
Do you have experience with a Mdot2 or something like it?
yess missed this channel so much
Love the Tech Rambles!!! More please!!!
Wow. The setup looks great Tom. Love it
To get a long video like this I will gladly wait a super long time, it's like I forget all about the absence.
Great video Tom, thanks for posting... I for one actually quite enjoy the long rambly videos :)
I've watched your videos since the old Dreamcast unboxing. It's great to see you're still pumping out fascinating content!
I really like this long Video! I love your ideas for the room!
i run a 2.1 harmon kardon sound stick 3, compact, amazing sound, good looking and quite cheap
I'm watching this while reorganising my own project studio. I was actually changing some of the wiring in the rack as you stated that you were getting rid of your rack... spooky synchronicity! Or just a coincidence...
The Big Man is back!
Yes Tom is back
Glad you're back
Is the network part 6 coming soon? Looking forward to it thanks Ben
Good to see ya back! Love the new setup.
Hi Tom, good to see you on here. Great vid, very impressed with the new layout.
This really motivates me to get my setup all sorted out, maybe I’ll finally get my Mac Pro up on the desk
I have a set of the smaller Mackie CR3 on my desktop. I find because they are rear firing they are really difficult to get sounding right when you are at the desk, the sound opens up superbly when you give them a bit of distance from the seating position but thats not ideal for a computer/desk setup.
Think I would be tempted to try some forward firing speakers next time to see if they are less fussy.
Check if your desk is level. It seems to be lower on the right side as on the left if you look at where it meets the other desk... Nicely done mate :)
if you have problem with bulging top layer of desk when putting screw, then use small drill to predrill in place where you wish to put screw and it will not bulge
Yoo thats wild. I have ocular albinism. I wanted triple monitors but 2 alone, I was constantly turning my head from one to the other because I sit so close to them. So I instead opted for the big brother 38 inch ultrawide by LG. How do u deal with the 3 monitors?
I believe hackintoshing got much more bulletproof the last couple of iterations (thank god), so you probably won't have any troubles updating to the latest version.
Anyway, great video! I was happy to see one of your vids in my subbox :D
Ah, a new upload from Tom!
Awesome to see another amazing video from you Tom. A+ on the cable management very neat 😂
I love the ramble keep it up tom lol
Nice to see a video finally. Keep it up!
best scroll whell I ever used is on Apple Mighty Mouse - get wireless one
I may donate you one (when I would find it very cheap) and I would even clean before sending
give me a shout, if I should keep an eye for one for you (I check ebay daily for work, so that would make no difference at all)
Never clicked on a video so fast!
ThomasTheDankEngine me
Yes another great video glad to see you
Hi Tom, It was so so good to see you on camera again, I absolutely loved this video so much fun and the setup looks fantastic!!! Love the videos from a long time subscriber in Australia- Christina :D
Hi Tom, I have a super long 30pin to usb cable spare if you wanted it to replace your slightly sad looking one to your iPod dock. Just let me know the best way to get it down to you if it's of use.
Keep up the good work with the videos.
i noticed the newer mac mini...do you still use it at work or is it yours now?😀
Man I cant wait for new uploads
Its honestly probably better to get the new audio monitors because you don't really want large monitors for a small room. It can actually be detrimental to the sound quality.
Good To see a Great Video!! Make an All in one Hacintosh :D
Nice choice Tom on the Presonus e3.5 speakers! I’m running a pair of them on my retro setup and they are fantastic.
I wouldn't recommend closely tying together the speaker wire with the power cable though. Potential for noise, interference.
I use a pair of Technics SB-F920 speakers (1988) powered by a Sony TA-AX2 amplifier (1981) on my "main" retro setup (NES/SNES/N64/GameCube/Mega Drive/PS1/PS2/Windows 98/Windows 2000/Windows XP). It's also my "main" bedroom setup (but not the main setup of my whole house) and I also listen to music on it; it also has a car sub powered by a plate amplifier :-P
My Windows 95/Windows NT4 machine has a pair of Altec Lansing ACS-400 speakers and an Altec Lansing ACS-250 super woofer, and my MS-DOS 6/Windows 3.1 machine has a pair of Altec Lansing ACS-410 speakers and an Altec Lansing ACS-251 super woofer, so the speakers are colour matched to the cases, monitors, keyboards and mice :)
Pardon my language, but FUCK YES! I love these kinds of videos :D
Yaay! New video! I love the "Jessica is sexy" on the whiteboard around 19:35!🤣🤣
Ah, well there's the next hour sorted :)
Get some proper Genelec GLM speakers. Then you’ll have pretty good sound in any room!
Oooow the neversoft eye 😍
Inspired.. need to redo my own
Having functioning Daleks? Are you mad, man? They tend to not like us very much!
got my IMNC fix just in time :)
19:35 on the whiteboard behind him. "Jessica is Sexy!" lmao xD
I've been thinking and I would really love to see you fiddle around with one of those old Apple servers, it would be really cool to see what it can do in 2018, anyway, great video, keep up the good work Tom.
"Old server", I mean an Xserve.
Nice so exited for you man!
I saw you had a previous video about updating your Mac Mini as your server. Have you seen the new Mac Mini a few days ago?
Love your videos... awesome setup keep it up.
Looks like you need a new chair like one of those awesome gaming chairs. I need one as well I just use one of those standard black ones and its already getting tore up lol.
The pot noodle twirling fork in the pot at 1:55 haha, I have one of those lol. Also why do you have a toothbrush in your office lol.
FUCKING YES ! ANOTHER VIDEO ! =D #emailsquad
Tho I'm waiting for it to be in at least 720p to watch it because 360p is frying my eyes for real lmao
Finally a IMNC video and could you do a Hackintosh update video but great video as always
1:11 Oh yeah Tom, just tempt us with not one but TWO G5's sitting there :O
Instead of a laser pod, you could use a par 16 can. That could work.
New video hype!!
I’ve got a suggestion for your desk cable management. You could try zip tieing the 6 way to below the cable management bar so you have more space for the other accessories / power supplies.
Another suggestion is to run all the soft boxes to the 2nd outlet next to your desk so it’s the one switch to turn them on
I know no ones or Tom is gonna read this but this video inspired me to buy these exact dual Dell monitor monitors
that led thing u looked at last argos did them last year
Great to see you back! Also is that a new MacBook??
It’s always a war between neatness or quality risking noise from all the cables being bundled like that
why not bluetooth mouse?
I use Apple Wireless Trackpad and Apple Wireless Mouse (Mighty t the moment, maybe I shall switch to Magic mouse, if it would work flawlessly with Linux)
This setup works absolutely flawlessly (apart from too small desk for 3 keyboard, trackpad, mouse and laptop on side - I constantly move keyboard to left against trackpad (i use trackpad mostly for scrolling) and band mouse on laptop on right
laptop gives me third screen and second computer, so it does not sit there idling
That's the one thing I hate in general about a lot of audio interference is that they have front io. WTF am I ment to do with any front facing XLR socket's? Because as soon a you plug anything in you have a mess coming out of 2 sides.
great video
awesome video!!
The logitech MX master is a great wireless mouse for productivity
Logitech MX Master is a pretty good wireless mouse! I use one with my G4.
what is the keyboard with the black and red keys you are using?
seems like a very good and comfortable keyboard to use long time, when im coding and working on my other projects etc.
Look at the Logitech Mx Master for a new mouse, or the Logitech G line of wireless mice. Logitech is a very good mouse company.
thats a super nice keyboard what model is it?
yessss new vid!!!!!
Probably long awaited network video will come at Christmas.
You should get a behringer mixer.
Tom really doesn't seem to need a mixer for his use case.
Woah, you got exactly same color hair as i got!
Actually smaller speakers will be very tinny and that will never do also the mixing desk is better than some other units.
If you get a wireless mouse let me know, I want your old one. I have the same model but the buttons are starting to wear out and Logitech doesn’t make this model anymore.
