We found your recording two years ago, just after my Dad died. It was his favourite piece to play on the piano, which he did virtually every day of his adult life! And you play it just like him - quite uncanny! Thank you for sharing your talent and making me smile every time I play it!
I bought the sheet music 3 months ago and just finished learning the song. It's such a joy to play, and my family loves hearing it.....highly recommend it to all pianists out there!
Praying that some day you can show us how to play and break down Buddy Boldens Boogie..i live in New Orleans for 4 semesters at a junior college and would go out to Maple Leaf and other places on weekend..Heard James Booker(who changed my whole musical out look and took up some piano..Dr.John and "Fess" were alive and watchin them made me wanna do it but i was slow to grasp the intricate things goin on between chords..took a twenty year break and now i want to start up again..i listened to Buddy Boldens over and over and decided to try and learn it but i cant slow it down enuff to pick it out..what a wonderful song to play in front of some friends..thanks so much from Slim in Florida
man....this is home grown - sounds great! Hey do you have the sheets for this exact redentition? I'd love to learn those left hand tenth voicings. Thanks! :)
Trey Rader .. Hi Trey, I don’t have the sheet music for this exact rendition but this version is based off the one found in the DvD set entitled (The Piano Styles of Dr John). It’s an instructional dvd set of various New Orleans tunes with sheet music. You’ll find the sheet music there for Buddy Bolden Blues with the tenths in the left hand. Best of luck!
Hi Jean, thanks for your comment. Unfortunately I can’t help you with learning this song, I don’t have the sheet music and don’t give online lessons. However this version is based on Dr Johns version and the sheet music to that is available online. Best of luck.
It sounds wonderful, not rushed and bluesy with a touch of laidback feel to it~ And oh lord, that sweet tasty ending! Lovely way to end it~
