Another jewel of barrelhouse piano! I like the lefthand in the style of the 20’s: variations and rhythmic changes. And ,of course, the improvisation in the righthand. Thank you very much, Ethan! Rik Dedeene from Belgium.
Thank you Ethan for another cool one! I especially appreciate your videos with this camera angle, so I can see what you're doing and imagine myself doing the same.
Thanks so much! Glad you appreciate the camera angle. When I was first learning boogie-woogie I watched so many videos and learned a ton from studying fingers . It's exciting for me that now I'm able to help fellow pianists in the same way!
It's great feeling , for sure! And it's been a long process to play this style comfortably. Still no end in sight, though 🙂 Lots more work to do, but this is definitely one of my favorite styles to mess around with. Thanks for the comment!
That’s just wonderful Ethan! So pleased to hear you playing again too, not just the tune but your technique is a joy to hear, much appreciated as always. I’d like the music if any exists anywhere kind regards
Thanks Stanley. Greatly appreciate it as always. Have you checked out this guy? He's selling lots of transcriptions of barrelhouse tunes. Some of the Cow Cow Davenport stuff, like Slow Drag, have this kind of feel. He's got lots of great stuff. ua-cam.com/channels/xkvp0b6CB4fnElpi3Ro4jQ.htmlvideos
@@EthanLeinwand thanks Ethan! Didnt know about this site, just need to assess which is closest to this feel. Cracked Chicago in MInd and Old Louisiana Blues, great tunes, wished I played these decades ago instead of classical stuff!
Thanks. Slow blues is a salve for the soul.
Agreed!
Coincidantially I just changed my stage name to Davenport.
Your understanding and knowledge of the blues idiom really shines in this piece.
A great name, but big shoes to fill there! 🙂 Thanks for listening!
A musical corner of my mind too.
♥️♥️Need an album of your slow blues and stride bass... Sigh
Your left hand is rock solid. But I'm amazed at your right hand inventions within the idiom. They are fresh and really terrific, Great stuff.
Thanks so much! This compliment means a lot to me. Finding my own self-expression while staying true to the idiom is always my ultimate goal.

Thanks Andrew!!
Beautiful!
Thanks 🙂
The groove caught me. It's believable as it's told.
Thanks!
Beautiful. Captures the beauty and the tragedy of life 🧡
Dichotomy! 😀

Giving time to time. Silent between notes. A delightfull walk . Thank you. So melodious.
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂❤️
I was both surprised and delighted at some of the phrases, beautiful melodies played with lovely dynamics. Subscribed!
Thank you so much! Glad to have you on board and greatly appreciate the kind words .
Must be wonderful to have mastered something like this piece. I'd play it everyday if I could.

@@EthanLeinwand I think there are a lot of people like me that would pay for lessons from Leinwand.
That's nice to here. I do enjoy teaching, but between practicing. gigging, and trying to have a life, it's difficult for me to find time for teaching.
That piano has a nice honky tonk sound to it. Nice playing aswell
Thanks for commenting ! It's a J. Bauer from around 1908. Glad you dig it
Great music Wonderful playing ! I love the old scool style piano blues. Thanks very much
Thanks!! Glad to hear it!
Enjoyable !
As a bass guitar and a piano music fan I always firstly pay attention to the left hands role.
Left hand is the heart of this music , that’s for sure!

Very nice, smooth, you make it sound so easy.
Thanks man! That’s the goal, for sure
Everything about this is so good 🩵
Love this Ethan ❤️🎹 another one on my very long “to do “ list 😊 great to see you posting again 😅
Thanks!! Happiness is a never ending piano to do list 🙂

Best of luck with all the tunes!
I just got hooked up on line with you ,love it my king music, struggling, piano, learning here.
Could you please play “House of the Rising Sun” in this style?
I worked up a version once, but it's been a long time...
I agree !
Perfect!
This angle is good to copy your play! Thanks.
Have fun!
Que beleza!! Uma perfeição!
Love it!
I wish I could play this 🤤
I know the feeling!
Amazing. Please make lesson on this)))
I'm gonna work on that
@@EthanLeinwand that would be awesome. God bless you! ❤
played some bass alongside this, dang we sounded good
by we i mean you
Thanks for joining me in the pocket 🙂 upright or electric?
Man you kill me with beauty. jour hands have something with God.
Thanks for the nice compliment! Always nice to hear when someone connects to the music.
As a non musician, it’s a form of wizardry to me how the left hand can do something completely different to the right and make it ‘work’!
It’s amazing what you can train your body to do! Sometimes the trick is just getting your brain to stay out of the way!!
Tasty chunky blues.
When I'm trying to learn an old blues the first thing I look for is the meatiest morsels to to try get a hold of ! Pretty much fake the rest 🙂
GREAT STEADY CORDINATION WITH BASE AND RHYTHM
😊🥰🥰🙏🙏
Beautiful!
Thanks Tom!
