Pentatonic passing tones. I’m a guitarist and just starting playing keys for backing pad with a dumb machine midi. I never thought to learn pentatonics on the keys. Duh’🤪! Great idea! Thank you!
Good lesson. I might want to point out, and I know she well understands this, that the “blue” note is normally a flatted 5th. Yes, a flatted 3rd is part of the blues scale, but it might be confusing to novices.
On the first lick, I have larger hands so my 1-3 fingers feel bunched up. I found success in rolling my 2 finger down from the flat to the second note and hitting the third note with my 4 finger.
Jemma uploads a lot of UA-cam Shorts with these types of tips. Those are great and it's also great to see a long form lesson from someone who's so clearly well educated and well rehearsed!
Lick 1: At first you think it’s simply coordinating your fingers properly, which is difficult. Then when you get that down and realize it’s the rhythm/tempo/cadence…
Nice, but. The pentatonic scale gets tiresome very quickly. Adding various blues notes helps a lot, along with switching between major & minor pentatonic scales. But it’s very difficult to develop and idea and keep it interesting and varied. I’ve tried. Even playing an entire repertoire of Irish reels & jigs gets irritating after playing 20 or 30 tunes that start to sound same same. How to get around this?

How to get around this?
step one, don't look on this channel for advice. Pianote is largely geared to beginners so it doesn't make sense to get real music advice from here
