Sherwin Williams Duration and Emerald have very washable Flat finishes. Flat paint helps hide surface imperfections in walls. Light doesn’t reflect off the high points, pumps and lumps. Which is great if you have a less than brand new house with lumpy walls like most of us do. Plus you can touch up flat paint whereas, if you try that with any other finish you are having to re-paint the entire wall edge to edge.

I'm interested in painting my island from white to black. If I use a brush and roller, will you be able to tell it was painted by hand versus how they came when the house was built? I'm always afraid of seeing the roller/brush marks. Is it not really that big of a deal?

You mentioned trim should be satin finish, if I want my walls Chantilly lace eggshell, do I need to get another Chantilly lace, but in satin?

You forgot to mention gloves, wire brush for cleaning brushes, paint can opener. You can store wet/used brushes and rollers in plastic zip lock bags, in between painting so you don't have to wash every time. Brushes should be cleaned with Dove dish soap massaged in, then rinse in boiling hot water, then take outside and jet the brush with hose while using wire brush to dislodge any remaining paint.

We chose Chantilly lace (eggshell) for the walls, what should we choose for the ceilings - just ceiling white flat paint or should the color be the same as the walls? The ceilings in our apartment are not tall. Thank you!

I have a north facing home, what colors will look good. I love blue but I think it will be too cool
I have a north facing wall that gets little natural light and has shadows: I tried about 8 different colors and the winner was Collingwood. It’s a light gray. It has a little purple undertone but it’s not really noticeable. Hope this helps. No one could help me and it was a stressful process. Not even my designer knew what to do with this room.

DO NOT USE Eggshell on the walls. Its too shiny. Use matt. I use Benjamin Moore Scuffex matte. For whites BM Chantilly Lace 3 coats minimum.
