The beautiful girl in the video is English actress, Sophie Ward. I saw her at the theatre last year, and she is still stunning and so lovely. The glamorous makeup and hair was very much the 80s style. I really love ‘Don’t Stop The Dance’ and ‘More Than This’.

You should check out Ladytron from The Old Grey Whistle Test 1972. Brian Eno on synth. And Out Of The Blue Live from the Apollo 2001. Phenomenal violin solo by Lucy Wilkins

Greetings from UK! I loved the reaction and comments you guys made...you have a good eye sir for detail in videos. I've watched this video hundreds of times and never noticed the thing about the falcon landing blindfolded and the timing of it facing outwards in sync with Bryan!
As to Bryan's voice...you guys should listen to his later songs (he did a whole album of Dylan covers) and his recent Love Letters LP (3 tracks American classic covers) Bryan's voice has changed a lot now he's older and is more of a flatter soulful crooner sound.

Yep ! Great track by a Brilliant Band ! Can I put my Geek hat on for a moment .
The word "Avalon " or what the word means is interesting . But the "Island of Avalon " is drawn from the King Arthur Legend
from the 11th or 12 Century , Thee have been a couple of contenders for said Island ,but for me the Glastonbury Tor is the place ,
It has so much History going on there . as it was surrounded by water ! Hat off now ,Cheers

I love this song. Roxy Music's 'Avalon', Joe Jackson's 'Night & Day', Simple Minds' 'New Gold Dream' and Icehouse's 'Primitive Man' were five of my favourite albums of 1982.
I remember my sister and I going to the cinema after a Saturday morning shift to see the Dark Crystal. The air conditioner would cool the dimlit auditorium against the summer heat outside. Roxy's 'Avalon' would quietly play on the speakers as my sister and I munched on cinema icecreams; staring at the curtains that covered the screen and trying to relax our minds from the demands of customers. That's the memory that comes back whenever I hear this song.

@jaymacgee_A_Bawbag_Blethering Gillian writes here all the time. As you say, prosaic!
I get your drift, though . Something quite special could happen.
I wrote two books just to see if I could do it. One a kids book, the other was darker. A publisher offered a deal on the darker book but wanted me to change the mid section to something she wanted. I said no!

@@colrhodes377 get away !! I know writers have artistic souls that need space to breathe and MUST suffer for their art and there’s no place for compromise col…. BUT..to get that 1st book published and maybe get picked up for further books and the ball gets set rolling … and Daddy NEEDS that new Porsche and a swimming pool … I’d be there with a pair of scissors , a typewriter and a big smile on my face !

@@jaymacgee_A_Bawbag_Blethering I began writing my own little stories as a kid, and then I fell (by pushing my way) into the world of Countdown, where I constantly wrote letters to Countdown staff about what music they should play on the show. I had letters published in Dolly and Countdown magazine. I also got into a fun creative writing course in the early 90's. Then I had to write a LOT when I was running a business in interior designing. So, I guess that's where it comes from. Thank you for those kind words. I do appreciate it. 😊

My interest in them had seriously waned by this point, though this is a killer song from the later period.
Fun fact, it plays a minor part in the book of World War Z, but not the film iirc. Which is a pity, as it could have looked absolutely surreal.(don't get me started on the film)

Agreed, since Remake/Remodel, Roxy were on a downward spiral 😂 Joking aside Roxy are a bit of an enigma for me.
If I had to rate their studio albums , I would pretty much put them in chronological order, not sure I could say that about any other band or artist that I enjoy.
Not saying that the later albums were not good, just not as good as their predecessors.
