This song is really genuine, I remember as a kid walking up very tall hills and bridges with my bicycle just to ride all the way down, like I was flying and feeling that rush of excitement from the wind. At the time I didn't care I was riding in the middle of the road, but listening to this song made me cry thinking how it all could have been taken away so quickly and how ashamed I would have felt to leave my loving parents that way, like what happened to the child in the song. Only an honest masterpiece like this can bring emotions and tears to me and many others, thank you Kikuo.
Ah same, I almost got hit by a car when I was riding down a hill and the car came out from the conjunction, what's even worse is the car was my parents. I got scold really hard afterwards. Sorry, mom and dad. I'm pretty sure that was very traumatizing to them.

THIS SONG MAKES ME CRY EVERY TIME. Children dying is just so sad, they never get to grow up, and their parents never get to finish raising them and see their child become an adult. It’s gut wrenching, honestly. Kikuo is an artist I admire greatly. He is especially masterful with words and the emotions are so visceral. I’ll probably listen to this one at least 100 times
If you look really close at the end, you can see a single tear drop from the parents' eyes. That made me shiver. Along with the dead stare that literally makes this song even sadder. Kikuo, this song is beautiful but it makes me so sad.
The toys “melting away” was the most heartbreaking part of this song to me. It really just blatantly reminded you of the potential this child had that was so suddenly ripped away by death. When the toys were mentioned this fact combined with the idea of the grieving parents throwing everything away just to save themselves from the pain of their child’s untimely demise I almost cried.
Yeah. It's like everything you loved once is now just a memory, and for real. Every sort of progress you'd made with them is now just gone. It's so sad how the parents try to bargain by throwing away those memories, but it's ultimately getting worse.
I think the toys "melting away" could actually be interpreted as the toys being cremated with the child because cremation is very common in Japanese funerals.
Horrific things being described from children’s perspective...in Gommenne, Gommenne, and now this. I think the reason why this so deeply disturbs people is because not only are you hearing material that would disturb an adult from the perspective of an innocent little child who should never, ever, have to even know such things exist, but hearing that activates your parental reflexes-even if you don’t want to be a parent, it’s like we have a built-in longing to keep children safe. Maybe a survival reflex to ensure we live on...I’m thinking too hard in an attempt not to get freaked out any further...
This was the first song to actually make me start crying. Especially at around 3:44. The way he talks about the life he left behind, and also the things his parents got him, and how he just fades away after the segment is over is so beautifully sad.
The sadder part was that he doesn't have a sad life. He has parents that love him and even puts on the effort to *make* him toys to play with, they apparently didn't do anything abusive at all.
Something I noticed that I haven’t seen anyone talking about is at 4:34 when you see the the soldier’s sword flashing and waving while it’s in the music box. Typically in some cases when an accident occurs, there will be a police officer directing traffic using a thing a traffic control wand, which are plastic batons that flash and light up and you typically move them to the left and right to move traffic away from a crash or area you don’t want other drivers to go near. So, in this case, the boy may be interpreting the the police as soldiers, and their swords as traffic control wands that are directing oncoming traffic away from the site of where he was hit. I know it’s a tiny detail, but it really clicks with the whole “the soldiers are police officers” theory that many people have with this video.
Adding that awhile the toys soldier were still waving, there could be heard either an ambulance sirens or Police sirens, which also makes it more confirming that the soldiers are the Police.
And whe he says that they're waving from inside of the box's cover it's like the police is looking for him underneath the car that is the music box's engine... That's super fucked up though.. It gjves me shivers
At the end with all of the toy sounds before the music ends, one of the sounds is a siren. (4:39 right when the voice starts to fall and then rises) And I just actually thought about that. Holy crap. Kikuo, you are brilliant.
I’m surprised that *this* is the song that made me realize that I’m not worried about what will happen to me when I die, I’m worried about how it will affect the people I know
The part where the child talked about his mom buying toys for him really got to me. This whole song just hit me in the feels for some reason. Maybe it's because I'm still a child? I'm not sure, but that one part just.. It shows how quickly their life can be taken away, and.. It sorta makes me think that the kid was thinking about the good memories with his parents as if he was trying to ignore their sad expressions and just wanted to remember the happy times with them before he died.
Here's something weirder: Maybe the child likes the feeling of dying? Bc of the fact that it's a child and is innocent to how they should actually be feeling about it?
@@goldandcheese I think that basically what the child wants to do is to reassure his parents saying that he didn't feel pain when he died or rather to not worry because he felt good. So to put it simply it is something like "mom, dad don't look at me like that, don't be sad, I'm alright so please dont worry anymore"
I got really confused why the comment section had weirdly written comments, but then I realized Google automatically translated it from Japanese and now /I'm/ the asshole.

@@eindeed I might not be correct but it switches from “might be” to “will be” at the ending of the song (hope I could help. I’m not the best at Japanese 😭😭)
@@eindeed In Japanese, "naru desho" has the tone that a child or a woman would use, while "naru daro" is a slightly more mature and rough way of saying it. It sounds like something a little bit of adult man would use. Since this is a little boy, he loves that the tone does not match the innocent atmosphere.
@Kurodango is right.
something overlooked but really sad is the fact that the kid gets slower//fades more and more over the course of the video.. also it could just be me but some of the very last sounds after the sirens and singing stop sound like a woman crying hysterically
Kinda unrelated (and late) but if those toy soldiers represent the ambulance then it makes sense that when one of them waves their sword from the music box it alters between blue and red
like the pinned comment says, its about a boy who died in a bicycle accident. insert me interpreting what some of the lyrics means. and thank you to other commenter for their interpretations, it helps me understand the song better. 0:32 - 0:54 : the parade is the people who attend his funeral, being thrown away represents him being buried. 1:00 - 1:24 : later in the song, it mentions narrow cracks. we can assume that he bumped into a crack, sending him flying off his bike and under a car (the music box). a running car, by the "trembling" part. he's hit his head, his blood seeping out onto the pavement into a big star. 1:26 - 1:39 : the soldiers would be the paramedics, and the gunshots i would presume to be equipment they used. the performance would be him in the hospital, the doctors desperately trying to save him seems never ending, and a long process. 2:06 - 2:25 : earlier in the song, the boy describes the tremors of the car to be relaxing, so like a lullaby, he was lulled to his death almost. 2:45 - 3:11 : this is self explanatory but ive added an inference of my own. the wind was almost exciting, and i would've guessed he let go of the handle bars. 3:13 - 3:25 : as the road goes narrow and he rides down a big slope, the bicycle fastens and he can't steer properly. the rest i haven't fully dissected but i hope you agree lmao?
4:15-4:39 When the kid says "all of my mama's happliy toys melted together in nothingness" and when he says "papa's toy soliders are waving back under the lid" it biscally means that since he's dead they threw the toys away, since having them will only make them suffer even more with his memory, "i'll disappear into the world of dream" and "until we meet again in our dreams" means that his soul went to heaven and that his death isn't important, since he says we're all gonna die soon and join "the world of dreams"
this song hits SO HARD. im a teen with multiple progressive conditions, because of that i won't live as long as my friends or (most of) my family. ive accepted it but my parents havent. everyday they become a little more sad, they mourn the life i could've had, and i hate all of it. im content with my fate, in fact i think it has helped me grow and become who i am! but they dont see it like that. i wish they would accept my demise and *stop looking so fucking sad all the time.* i can never truly comfort them on this and i hate it.
This comment is very emotionally striking for me. You have experiences that Ill never fully understand, but I sympathize greatly and am glad/admire how youve reached content regarding it. I just wanted to send words of support and say I hope you and your parents can reach a mutual understanding/footing someday. May they shift focus and think more about making everyone’s days as fulfilling and happy as possible instead. Even if not, I hope you have a fulfilling and happy future regardless and that your fate comes later than expected (if this part is favorable to you, since I dont know your situation). I hope this isnt too strange and/or is a good intentioned but unwelcomed/undesirable response, and I hope you have a wonderful day! Sending good vibes!
I hope the life you live is the most fun it can be. I think it's good to celebrate what you have now, rather than fearfully await death. Maybe give 'em a hug, if you read this, I think it's good to cherish the little sweet moments you share together. Have a good day!
I’m sorry about your parents, but I know you’ll live a happy full life. If it helps, if your parents are worried about you not living a long life, keep in mind that a long life isn’t just measured by the years, it can be measured by all the good times too. One good moment is as good as an entire year of living a life. I hope you’re doing well kind stranger ! 🧡
all the comments I saw were sad for the boy or praised the technical aspects of the song (which I completely understand, this song is good and sad as it could be) but I couldn't stop thinking about how sad the parents were feeling, especially when the child describes the gifts and says that his soul is disappearing, I'm crying again
0:57 the song says he "got caught inside the teeth of a music box," and describes him basically getting crushed and "minced and chopped up." if you combine that with the fact that the music box in this song sounds like a bicycle, and that in a later verse (3:19) it says "his body dissolves into red" when he rode a bike down further past his town... dude thats so fucked,, imagine how his parents reacted when they saw their child's body like that...
Dear god. Only now do I realize how sad this song actually is, when put into perspective. So this young child, one that was still living a very carefree and vibrant life-- His parents gave him lots of toys to play with and he had a bright imagination, a wonderful relationship with his parents themselves... The child dies. In as simple a way as a vehicle accident, but when put in depth it can seem horrifyingly morbid and really sad. Because his body parts and such get crushed and cracked and popped and worse, under a tire, perhaps. I bet everyone seeing that accident was heavily traumatized by the sight. I would say one of the only good things about this incident is that the child seemingly enjoyed the moment of his death. He must have had his nerves killed or something, as he only focused on the enjoyment of being crushed into nothingness. I'm unsure how he could've felt that well dying-- and it looks like he agrees because he's actually embarrassed when his parents are weeping over his death, but he just thought of how fun it was to die. And his parents have to deal with their only child suddenly being ripped away from them. They spent lots of time with him having hope that he would grow old and well, yet those aspirations were debunked, and down came tumbling all that happiness and livelihood for naught. They had to bid farewell to all of the toys and comic books gifted to the child, a goodbye to the thought of ever raising that child to adulthood... Long story short: Kid died too early. And messily. Dreams shattered. Sad.
at the very beginning of quarantine, literally front of our apartment door a truck crushed a 5-year-old girl. Her skull was cracked and her tiny body were lying down on the cold asphalt road. There was no kid scream, nothing, she died directly, even before she couldnt realize but Still cannot forget how screamed her mom, i believe they were their way home and they were returning from shopping. I have never heard a scream like that before, only that scream have goose bumps already, after that her mom had fainted. That little girl's elsa balloon was was stuck in the tree. The ambulance sounds, relatives who came one by one and passed out... Horrorfying, terryfying.Still my eyes are full when I hear the sound of an ambulance.for atleast 1 month, our apartment, our neighborhood was super silent. I will never forget you my little girl, who was waiting for her coffin and hearse in a cold day... I promise we won't remind your body like that, that terrifying view doesn't suits you. I just wanted to say that things are completely different when its about dying like that, losing your child is always the hardest thing but imagine seeing your beloved son/daughter like that.. she/he was happy and laughing only morning and after that... There's no way to make yourself relax with words like "she was a child, she died less pain atleast" so this would be the scariest thing ever. When it comes to the kids, it's even more scarier and sad. It made me think if i really want to have a child aftwr that...

when the body receives an injury that it knows it cant recover from it will shut down the nerves, and i believe the ling about his empty brain forming into a star may hint to the fact that when someone dies, its usually not all at once, in a case like this the kid was aware of the fact he was dying as it was happening so it translated into a blissful experience, and as a little kid you wouldn't understand that

I can read quite a bit of japanese... to be honest this song made me sad because I understood the meaning But there again though if everyone was in the spirit world dead, like this boy wouldn't you just want to be forgotten to allow your family to be happy? That's essentially what is happening with this this song
This song reminds me of my dead great uncle. He was high and walking down a drive way (I don’t remember the specific details, since this literally happened like 60, 50, or 40 years before I was born so I might have the story wrong). his family lived near a highway so it was kinda probably brings butterflies in your stomach, and not the good kind. a 18 wheeler was going by, and he didn’t see him (idk why, I wasn’t told why) and then once he was on the road I think he saw the truck but it was too late he was literally splattered into limbs Later on the police was involved and didn’t do any justice,- the driver literally was going crazy because he felt so guilty, whilst the mother and father of the dead victim got forced to pick up their dead son’s bloody body parts since the police said “your son, your mess” It was terrible,, also adding that his younger sister had to watch it happen too (she tried to warn him but it was too late) Shits messed up Be careful if you live near a highway, or don’t be high while next to a Road.
Im learning japanese and i was listening to music in class (with earphones im not a sick monster that forces people hear the music), and one of my frienda that is a professional at japanese said if he could listen too... He got a little bit confused and called me sick. -Well good that i wanst listening to mind brand-
This song is absolutely insane. The melody, the lyrics, the animation... Everything about it is perfection. It's also so very sad. From what I understood, it's a child that found great joy in dying and is singing about how their parents are looking at their corpse. I mean, a child? Being this happy to die? "Don't look at me with those eyes, mama, or I'll be embarrassed about dying." Oh. My. God. Kikuo, I have no idea who hurt you this badly to create such an emotionally painful and beautiful masterpiece, but I hope you're happy now. Wherever you are 💗

Maybe a survival reflex to ensure we live on...I’m thinking too hard in an attempt not to get freaked out any further...

Also the toy cars
The sound in the back as well, it sounds like a 🚨 (・_・;)
I feel like the toy/comic books are the organs of the boy and how he's saying " my mother brought me into this world "
Adding that awhile the toys soldier were still waving, there could be heard either an ambulance sirens or Police sirens, which also makes it more confirming that the soldiers are the Police.
And whe he says that they're waving from inside of the box's cover it's like the police is looking for him underneath the car that is the music box's engine... That's super fucked up though.. It gjves me shivers
At the end with all of the toy sounds before the music ends, one of the sounds is a siren. (4:39 right when the voice starts to fall and then rises)
And I just actually thought about that.
Holy crap.
Kikuo, you are brilliant.
and the REST OF IT IS CRASHING AND CLANGING NOISES OH MY GOD
+PiraticOctopus what that mean D:
The kid was riding his bike downhill and crashed it. So like, a siren as in an ambulance.

Perfectly said. That is exactly what makes it so tragic.
Here's something weirder: Maybe the child likes the feeling of dying? Bc of the fact that it's a child and is innocent to how they should actually be feeling about it?
@@goldandcheese I noticed that too. The child seems to feel guilty that he enjoyed the feeling before he died
@@goldandcheese I think that basically what the child wants to do is to reassure his parents saying that he didn't feel pain when he died or rather to not worry because he felt good. So to put it simply it is something like "mom, dad don't look at me like that, don't be sad, I'm alright so please dont worry anymore"

like the pinned comment says, its about a boy who died in a bicycle accident. insert me interpreting what some of the lyrics means. and thank you to other commenter for their interpretations, it helps me understand the song better.
Thank you for this! It helped me understand a lot more. XD
in the second 0:18 it could mean that his head cracked from the impact of th car so it sounds like ¨popcorn¨
In the first sentence of the first timestamp, it could refer to post mortem? (My soul was picked out by a pair of tweezers?)
I think he got crushed under the car wheels (falling into the teeth of a music box) and his body parts scattered and popped.
2:44は中絶の話
「狭いおうち」子宮からでてくるまで

this song hits SO HARD. im a teen with multiple progressive conditions, because of that i won't live as long as my friends or (most of) my family. ive accepted it but my parents havent. everyday they become a little more sad, they mourn the life i could've had, and i hate all of it. im content with my fate, in fact i think it has helped me grow and become who i am! but they dont see it like that. i wish they would accept my demise and *stop looking so fucking sad all the time.* i can never truly comfort them on this and i hate it.

0:57 the song says he "got caught inside the teeth of a music box," and describes him basically getting crushed and "minced and chopped up." if you combine that with the fact that the music box in this song sounds like a bicycle, and that in a later verse (3:19) it says "his body dissolves into red" when he rode a bike down further past his town...
dude thats so fucked,, imagine how his parents reacted when they saw their child's body like that...
oh geez you're right
Oh definitely, the music box was too specific so it's most likely his body was horrificly ripped apart. Rip little guy :(
And "my cheeks have been popped like popcorn"
Apparently someone said that the parents accidentally drove into him or smth which makes it even worse
I think the baby was going down a hill with his bicycle, went too fast without being able to stop and ended up under a car/truck
You can hear the bicycle crash/crushed the entire song too, makes it all the more stressful

Dear God...
... Yep. I'm... Surprised you had such fucked-up luck for that to happen in front of your own house.
Honestly, I don't think I've even witnessed any death with my own eyes, even already-dead people. Though, my experiences of death are plentiful in terms of online. All are secondhand, as in, never knew any of the people died.
Oh, hey, wait! One person I knew died. Me parent's girlfriend. But I didn't know her well enough(though I spent several days' worth of time with her).
Anyway, I'm gonna go back to watching lighthearted stuff... Satan knows we need it. It sucks so damn bad y'actually witnessed that. Hope you're doing right.
@@Detective.Horonigai thank you 💕 for real such things are hard... Anyways i firstly wish good for her family. Thank you again for listening and sharing your thoughts with me
when the body receives an injury that it knows it cant recover from it will shut down the nerves, and i believe the ling about his empty brain forming into a star may hint to the fact that when someone dies, its usually not all at once, in a case like this the kid was aware of the fact he was dying as it was happening so it translated into a blissful experience, and as a little kid you wouldn't understand that
@@bayangintokii4774 oh god, im so sorry you had to see that. i have a (very soon to be) 5 year old sister, and i cant even begin to imagine what i would do if she was gone. i feel so bad for that mother, and may the child rest in peace
I actually feel so sorry for this kid because he called himself an idiot and shamed himself for dying and making his parents sad, i just wanna give the little kid a hug, he deserves a hug

I can read quite a bit of japanese...
to be honest this song made me sad because I understood the meaning
But there again though if everyone was in the spirit world dead, like this boy
wouldn't you just want to be forgotten to allow your family to be happy?
That's essentially what is happening with this this song
... um...
if everyone suddenly died after I posted this reply then how'd your family be sorrowful...???
Hell I'm alive and I wish they'd forget about me so I could just move on already
This song reminds me of my dead great uncle.
He was high and walking down a drive way (I don’t remember the specific details, since this literally happened like 60, 50, or 40 years before I was born so I might have the story wrong).
his family lived near a highway so it was kinda probably brings butterflies in your stomach, and not the good kind.
a 18 wheeler was going by, and he didn’t see him (idk why, I wasn’t told why) and then once he was on the road I think he saw the truck but it was too late
he was literally splattered into limbs
Later on the police was involved and didn’t do any justice,-
the driver literally was going crazy because he felt so guilty, whilst the mother and father of the dead victim got forced to pick up their dead son’s bloody body parts since the police said “your son, your mess”
It was terrible,, also adding that his younger sister had to watch it happen too (she tried to warn him but it was too late)
Shits messed up
Be careful if you live near a highway, or don’t be high while next to a Road.
That's so, so, awful. I'm so sorry.
im so sorry.
i'm so sorry that happened
yoo what the fuck? thats disgusting.. i honestly cant stand the police
I feel like im going to vomit if i read this again

The background and effects remind me a lot of the witch's labyrinths from Madoka Magica.
