You know not only does the black and white make it feel retro but it makes the shadows much more noticeable it makes the sense much more moody and really helps make this scene more distressing plus the creepy old cyber man music makes it ten times better
This is such a good edit of the original scene that I forgot that the original shot cut back and forth from Bill and the Doctor, and Missy and the Master. Brilliant.
I hope Peter Capaldi sees this. He'll love it. I love the sound effects and the score you used when the cybermen is revealed, it gives me the creeps. And the credits part were a great touch.
This one hits so much harder than the original version, which already hit hard enough to scare me absolutely shitless. The airy 60's scifi music balanced with eery silence is SO perfectly done. Very masterfully done, if you will.
It actually looks much more authentic when the screen resolution is dropped to 240p, and would probably be even better if the frame rate were dropped to 25 fps. Still, brilliantly conceived and edited.
I hate that eye shot. "Ok they drilled into her brain and who knows what unimaginable horrors are under the mask but let's leave her make up intact." No mate
Yea but i dont think if you got converted you would have perfect makeup. I didnt even think they would have eyes if they did why make the eye holes so dark
This just shows how black white really helped make the 60’s that much more starkly frightening. I put this up there with the web of fear and the animated version of the Macra Terror on the eerie factor
Outstanding work. It's amazing how minor atmospheric tweaks takes a good scene and turn it in to a fantastic scene. This felt like it could have been aired in the 60s.
Brilliant! Ha. I love it. :D As some people have said, it really is chilling. I never thought the 1960s music would work either, but it really does. Great job! :D
Ugh the old style soundtrack and the black and white makes this scene so much more chilling I love this why isn't there more black and white 60s style Who in the modern day
Absolutely well done. Stomping sound gone (although still there in a couple of shots). But music fits very well. Infact this version gives me goosebumps. Can't wait for Saturday's episode
This was just plain brilliant - more than that, the period music absolutely made this entire scene vastly more disturbing and horrific. I wish the beeb had done what you did for the actual program - the soundtrack at least. I am amazed how deeply unsettling that old era Who music is, and how effectively it worked. The stark B&W images also deeply disturbed... really powerful!
This confirms what I keep saying about atmosphere .... it has so much to do with the music!! Your version is immediately more tense and unnerving. Black and white helps too of course!!!
I think the stomping is a good thing! Doesn't feel like a cyberman without it. Awesome video. New with the old works great. Just like what the writers did with bringing back the mondas cybermen in this episode. Good costumes. This a little of what we need! I didn't think I'd like black and white but I do 👍
The more modern ones seem to be very machine based and so would be fairly noisy but, these things never did make much noise. They seem to have a fair amount of their body left including the torso, arms and head. Obviously, they are probably realistically stripped down and heavily mutilated but, I think the true horror of these Cybermen was how human they were. They had exposed hands.
@@baroque4days yeah the old ones are unintentionally scarier because of the low budget costumes makes them look more human almost like walking hospital patients barely being kept alive by machinery they don’t look like they are made of much metal so the stomping doesn’t make as much sense but I still like it
@@Doodle1678 There's a picture of the inside of a Moonbase/Tomb suit somewhere. Basically still has parts of the leg and arms used just with stuff between them and a giant filtered automatic breathing system. Back when they used to melt their chest plates back in the old series, they'd have been suffocating them and probably causing overheating in their artificial lungs. Horrible stuff.
Much better than what was actually shown on TV, but that closeup zoom on Bill crying still annoys me. Mainly because I knew it meant Moffat was going to pull another ridiculous deux ex machina out of thin air instead of offing a companion and letting it stick.
This was brilliant. If at all possible you should mufle the sound a bit, or do whatever it is that reduces the quality. It doesn't ruin the current example, but it would add to the classic feel. Still amazing work.
Awesome video. But I think the design of the Mondasian Cybermen should have been exactly how there were depicted in the tenth planet. It had the potential to be an amazing story but again we were let down. So close yet so far...
I agree, it's great, but can we really stop with all the Moffat bashing? Remember, Moffat is just the writer of the episode. He's not the editor or behind sound mixing. Everything Moffat contributed to the original scene is in this one too. He wrote the scene.
That may be, but as ''showrunner'' he does oversee the various edits, and is senior to all those involved in production. So part of the blame at least lies with him there as well.
Honestly, this episode was one of my favorite episodes in the re-run of doctor who. It was really well written and the introduction of the cybermen was amazing.... I am however very disappointed with the second part as it just forces in the modern day cybermen with a half-assed explanation. If it had kept the original cybermen and made them a serious threat in a very clever manner then the second episode would have been just fine. But still, the point is that I loved the first episode.
So this is my future, I can't stop it now this is a fixed point in time. Why do I keep inviting people into my TARDIS. What happened to Clara? Did I leave her or abandon her, I DON'T KNOW. This is my future, someone tell me what happed to Clara? Edit: (The real me) I know what happened to Clara really, just go along with the flow!
My wife had to have an emergency. Open heart surgery where they placed an lvad pump in her chest lvad means left ventricle assist device the hospital she was in was 300 miles from home her mother stayed with her but i had to go home and get back to work the irony in all this is that ascsoon as she regained consciousness she called me and the first words she said was I WAITEDD FORR YOUU. So naturally for some reason this caused me to be a bit emotional
the potential of the mondas cybermen wont ever be realised until the shows rating can be accepted with M or MA themes. All the other cybermen are fantastical and childish. the mondasian ones can, with the right writing, be brutal, rugged, and really disturbing. RTD wanted to aim at a whole range of viewers.....mostly the high school demographic, thus his cybermen had to be quick, polished and family friendly. The PAIN clip from World Enough. Showed how far the writers could go with the horror, but sadly, i feel, thats the limit. *without body horror, the cybermen fail as a concept* ....which is why they have been shittly written for decades. thats where the prob. lies.
Someone's GOTTA show this to Capaldi. Given the mega-fan he is, something tells me he'd love this!
You know not only does the black and white make it feel retro but it makes the shadows much more noticeable it makes the sense much more moody and really helps make this scene more distressing plus the creepy old cyber man music makes it ten times better
It's all good, but lingering on that shot of Bill crying made it even more chilling. Nice work.

Actually, this style works really well and I wonder why the New Who hasn't tried an episode in the retro 1960s style. It makes so much sense!
It actually looks much more authentic when the screen resolution is dropped to 240p, and would probably be even better if the frame rate were dropped to 25 fps. Still, brilliantly conceived and edited.
240p with full frame rate looks like authentic 1960s studio video to me, thanks for the tip, it's the closest thing to having it VidFIREd :)
We also need the sound quality to drop to really imitate the 60s
The audio is also pretty good quality but of course I don’t mind that being not quite authentic
Good job! You authentically recreated the creepy 60's atmosphere! But, you should have used the 2nd Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver sound...
On reflection I completely agree 😭😭😭
I hate that eye shot. "Ok they drilled into her brain and who knows what unimaginable horrors are under the mask but let's leave her make up intact." No mate
@@thewootpanda at least the make up seemed to be waterproof! But my thoughts exactly when I saw this. Very silly.
@@thewootpanda It's inline with the original cybermen
Yea but i dont think if you got converted you would have perfect makeup. I didnt even think they would have eyes if they did why make the eye holes so dark
Love it! The music is well chosen, and the stomping is gone! Yet the tension of the scene is largely still intact.
It has more tension than the original.
Alan Stevens Also this makes it far more scary. Perhaps the BBC should take notes. ;)
Brilliant edit, I find it more creepier than the original
'ello m8!
Seriously one of the coolest Doctor Who videos I have seen on here in some time! Well done!
I fucking love that old cyberman theme tune, its so eerie
WOW...JUst wow!! This just speaks Classic Who. This is so good! This has left me speachless
That is what I remember the show being like when I was 6 watching the old reruns on tele. Utterly terrifying. Well done!!!
Brilliant! Ha. I love it. :D As some people have said, it really is chilling. I never thought the 1960s music would work either, but it really does. Great job! :D
Zero Nine 50 years later and that music can still do good at creeping us all out.
Ugh the old style soundtrack and the black and white makes this scene so much more chilling I love this why isn't there more black and white 60s style Who in the modern day
I was expecting just to see a black and white filter but you've really put in some effort to give this the same feel as the show had in the 60s
Absolutely well done. Stomping sound gone (although still there in a couple of shots). But music fits very well. Infact this version gives me goosebumps. Can't wait for Saturday's episode
This is some quality editing, you clearly understand the atmosphere of the black and white era very well 👌
Shows how much better the actual camera work has gotten.
Now that's more like it. That gripped me just like the old days.
Delia Derbyshire and the other radiophonic wizards make everything utterly spine-tingling.
All great especially love the end credits focused on the cybermans face, really made the whole situation dawn on me.
I shuddered watching the end of this scene. Well done on your creation of this
Absolutely brilliant! Totally captures the classic Who feel.
Felt like I was actually watch a 1960s episode, very nicely done mate 😁
OK, instant fan here. So much more atmospheric and watchable than the original. Love it. Well done, you.
this scene just got 100% more creepy!
scene still hits my feels
This is wonderful! 😊
the sound quality isn't cancer enough to give that true 60's nostalgia
More film grain, dodgy audio and lost scenes would do the trick.
love it great new version
The use of the music was brilliant.

I’d like to see these Cybermen fight the daleks
that voice my god
Video Central the voice it the same isn't it?
Bounty Hunter nah it's the momdassian cyberman voice
It was always the Mondasian Cybermen's voice.
Brilliant!
That's such a well done video. I wish they did an episode with the same 1960s edit to it :) the quieter theme to the scene makes it creepier
That's really really good. Sick of the Kermit the frog intro Muffet Dr Who.
This confirms what I keep saying about atmosphere .... it has so much to do with the music!! Your version is immediately more tense and unnerving. Black and white helps too of course!!!
I'll admit it. I wasn't expecting the original music. Very good!
this is AMAZING!! and I thought the episode couldn't any more scary..
Oh yes drop the quality to 240 it's WAYYY better, gives it the true 1960's look and feel
This is friggin great!
I'd pay big money for a box-set of every Capaldi episode in this style.
BBC take note-very atmospheric. Good job.

I think I prefer this to what we had. Black, white and grey, that's the way to go.
Peter Capaldi needs to see this!
I waited for you. I waited for anyone to make this video
Be sure to set the quality at 360p. That helps A LOT.

I feel like the one thing, is that the video and audio quality should have been lowered, but other than that, it's fantastic
Sublime!
This is seriously good, well done!
This works brilliantly! Love it!
I wish the episode had actually ended like this, fading out to the 60's theme and having the ticker tape "xoz" scroll from the tenth planet!
split the current budget, give em 20 half hour eps, Lime Grove studio D, some tin foil, and let the spooky who roll.
Now that is extremely eerily!!
Much creepier than the original! love it!

Far creepier. This really works.
Awesome!!!
Somehow it became much creepier!
I have to admit that in black and white that Cyberman is scarier!
So well done!

Face-Fok Ltd. I'm really curious. From an editinf standpoint, what did you see as wrong with the original World Enough and Time?
Well done, mate! You made it into the official doctor who magazine!
I thought the episode was pretty good...but it would've been impeccable if they did it like this.
I thought about doing this. Glad someone did!
Freeze frame 3:03 and Capaldi becomes Hartnell!
how did u remove the original theme from the clip
wonderful!!

Well that was brilliant

needs less sound quality to give it that 60s effect
so Cruella de Vil was Missy?? No wonder how she survived in 101 Dalmatian Street!
vert good . i want to see a thing not for children but about filming how they convert people into thos modasian cybermen

Nice job, but I'd recommend cropping to 4:3 rather than stretching :)
Sam J Lance Thanks! it was a combination of the 2 because neither cropping or stretching worked fully :)
