You can use this mix for your dog also, if you have a dog and a tegu at the same time! Brilliant! 2 birds in 1 stone!

It’s definitely a great base. I might add a little bit more plant matter to the mix after the fact for a dog.

I REALLY both love and respect the clear care you display for your animals. Moms y videos are centered around making the breeder look good (Underg.....), yea you get it, lol, and others are absolutely about shock value, killing a live blah-blah-blah.
I respect your efforts Sir, thank you for loving these beautiful creatures!

Half frozen is only way to go. I’ve done thousands of pounds of meat. It will grind up the slimy membrane and not clog your grinder

Cut your chicken into cubes first, or at least across the grain. This is a general meat grinding tip :D But also eliminates "Stringy bits"

I know it’s been awhile but one reason why it comes out so stringy is due to it not being fastened enough. Plus the grinder plate and blade need to be changed out. You’ll notice a much more coarse grind when you do that. Worked in meat processing for many years. I’d also get into the habit of just cutting the chicken fat off due to that clogging it up.

I understand the value of making the most complete diet mix possible, but I'd make two separate mixes: a chicken mix and a fish-based one. Then alternate them for the sake of enrichment.

Random question but I normally have a very large garden. I do not use any chemicals or sprays. Do you think if I can or freeze veggies and fruit from my garden I could use that when I might have a hard time find not over priced fresh stuff in the winter? I have chickens and quail that I have for eggs and meat for my family. Which once I get my tegu they would have them regularly as well. I'm doing tons of research on what to feed them among a long list of other things..... also do you know of a good site to see what types of food I can and can't find them?

Decent alternative to whole prey is bone-in, if your grinder can handle it. Wanna be careful that it doesn’t leave bone shards in the grind tho. (Talking chicken/fish bone. Don’t try to shove a t-bone into a meat grinder, lol)

I’m curious, does anyone else not have any luck with mixes? My guys won’t touch it lol they are selective on what they eat.
Pretty much the staples I use now are chicken eggs with the shell, chicken breast, hearts, and gizzards (I also include ground bone or small bone), frozen chicks, frozen mice, tilapia, super worms, grasshoppers, night crawlers, banana, black grapes, mango, blueberries, and mustard and collard greens if I’m lucky. If it’s mixed though, they won’t touch it lol
