I have an Argentine red tegu female and your videos are very helpful hopefully one day I can be ordering my first male from you . My dad had two and I just fell in love with them . Finally was able to buy my dream tegu , ordered a male but received a female . I’m okay with it tho just means I still need a male 😂❤️
If you lived in florida I'd love to help you out. As someone with no experience with these guys It'd be awesome to help someone out inexchange for learning how to care for these mini dinosaurs.
Okay, I have a awesome sweet buddy name BOGA, he is a Blue. BOGA is 2 years old and he is going into brumation. His Birthday, which is a important fact, is September 3. This when is when he decided to start preparing for his deep sleep. This is his first true brumation because when he was a baby he really didn't go down and then when he turned 1 he only went down for a couple of months. This brumation has me a little worried because I am not seeing him drink much water. I am worried about dehydration. He has fresh water all the time. He has a running waterfall, which he prefers to drink from, and a water dish off to the side. I took him out out and he is doing a hard swollow, like he would if he was swallowing food but there's nothing in his mouth. My question is should I be concerned? I took him to his Vet already and she did see anything real concerning other than the stuck shed. Go to The Adventures of BOGA On Facebook to see BOGA life story.
i noticed that in your baby tegu setup in the totes looks like pine branches, if they are pine branches, i assume its not as bad as pine mulch? Just your opinion, I live in Georgia and pine trees and reptiles live together and do well. I dont think every reptile in Georgia suffer from a respiratory diseases. Is it a big deal? i know its off point. I always respect your opinion. thanks brother
Good eye, and yes some are pine. To my understanding what you want to look out for is the sap. These branches are completely dried out and dead so there is no sap. I have never used and dont ever plan on using pine shavings.
Great vid, they're absolutely lovely :) Lets say you've got a sickly tegu and you don't think it could survive brumation, is there a way to keep them from brumating? Are there any negative effects if you keep a healthy tegu from brumating?
You say to use Calcium supplements but egg shells are almost entirely calcium so can't I just give extra egg shells? Also whole prey is bones, organs, and meat so if you feed bones organs, and meat why would you have to supplement in that case as well? There is D3 in many foods like liver, cheese, eggs, salmon for example. This is all meant to be constructive i'm just pointing out that we can easily provide a complete diet without supplements and it is in the food we are already feeding. I only point this out because I am thinking would I be over dosing them? What am I really paying this separate thing when they are getting all of that anyway? I didn't mention about the multivitamins but again if you just do a variety of veggies and fruits along with different meats they are getting all those nutrients from that as well. Lastly you can use dog food as you have mentioned as a supplement to their main diet as many are very well balanced.
So will they always dig into a den when brumating. Is that what I’m looking for bc mine both are still eating pretty good but they are under their black tub hide most the time..
Hey joey, i have a question for you please since im thinking about getting black n white tegu- which uvb bulbs you recommend? And you thunk that a combo bulb like powersuns zoomed (uvb and heat for basking) is good for a baby-jouvenile tegu? Theres a long discussion about that in tegutalk. Some recommend mega ray for uvb but im afraid its too much uvb for tegus.. what company you recommend for basking and uvb?
Dang, I just emailed you. I wanted to include asking you what you think these Tegu’s morphs would look like when they get older? i.e., I’m looking for a blue and/or high white tegu. Thank you
Keep these uploads coming man! They’re filled with helpful information and tips. You’re doing great and we all appreciate!

what UV And Heat lamps do you use?
Do you still recommend this product Repashy Calcium Plus
Or is there anything better now please
Will work for tegus!
Does the wood get moldy from humidity?
I would love to work with you

That meaty food what are the ingredients? I’d like to make the same. Just got my baby black and white Argentine tegu. She’s around 2 months old
What type of substrate do you use in your indoor enclosures?
When can I start
Hey bro, thanks for the video. Just a quick question, can Tegus eat cooked meat?
No. They cannot digest cooked meats. It's best to feed raw such as ground turkey or chicken.
Do u add insects to meat mix or no

Great question! I'll cover that in the next video.
Makes me think of a pet shop maybe

Am I doing things correctly I add food daily for her but she don’t come out lol
So where in Texas are you moving?
So will they always dig into a den when brumating. Is that what I’m looking for bc mine both are still eating pretty good but they are under their black tub hide most the time..
Yes they do but it's possible yours are just digging down for the night.

I use Coco substrate and clean it out once a month but spot clean daily. but it smells all the time
I have an army of pill bugs. I put a little dirt over the poo, and within 2 days the poo is gone.
I put meat mix for her n she still don’t eat it I guess mine is down lol
