  • The 1,000-amp #NOCO GB40 #JumpStarter will jump various lead-acid batteries, including absorbed glass mat (AGM) batteries. Despite being a small, portable unit, the GB40 will handle gas engines up to six liters, which covers a wide swath of half-ton trucks and every small to midsize SUV. In this video, we cover the GB40's spec sheet and top features. Watch to the end as we use the GB40 to power our portable blender.

    I got the GB40 yesterday and charged all afternoon tried to start my 2.4L Camry but didn't work. It was getting dark out so decided to try again next day. This morning it fired up just fine like I had a new battery. I would not be without it again. Highly recommend

    Had to use the GB40 this morning on a 3.5L F150 in 20°F. Gb40 was sitting in glove box so it was cold too. Took me 3 cranks but got the vehicle started up, most likely due to a combo if the cold weather & an aging battery.

    Will these jumpstarters work and compatible on AGM Batteries ? That is the big question of the day now, so will they become obsolete if they don't with so many AGM Batteries popping up everywhere?

    • @Automoblog
      @Automoblog  7 місяців тому

      Yes, they will work with any and all AGM batteries. Good question, but yes, you are in the clear. More specifically, the NOCO GB40 will jump various lead-acid batteries, including wet cell, gel, maintenance-free, enhanced flooded, and absorbed glass mat (AGM) batteries.

    The cables might be too short to properly boost the newer Toyota Sienna . Not positive though as the ground connection is off to the P.O. assenger side of motor. 🤷🏽‍♂️

      Hi Chris . . . yes, this is the only drawback to some of these portable units, NOCO included. It is my understanding that the cables of these portable units have to be shorter to mitigate power loss. If the cables are too long, you run the risk of not being able to deliver a full boost relative to the size of the unit.

      yes i agree the leads are way to short the only reason they have short leads i think is the compact storage

    I bought one of this in the hope of jump starting my 2021 toyota hilux sr5, I connected all the clamps as instructed, turned the unit on and wait for the boost light to come on, then started the engine, engine turned over a little bit but unable to fully turn on, the noco then overheated and showed the exclamation light blinking, 2 bar s of battery already drained, I don't know what I did wrong, really need some help.

    • @Automoblog
      @Automoblog  3 місяці тому

      It could be a couple of things ... one, your battery might really be completely dead and in need of replacement. Or second, it could be that the engine in your Hilux SR5 (if you have the 2.8-liter diesel) is right at the capacity of what the GB40 can handle. Currently, the GB40 is rated for small diesels up to three liters in displacement. That combined with a very low and nearly fully discharged battery could be the issue.
      By contrast, the GB70 might give you better results. Here is our guide that goes over the key differences between the two jump starters: www.automoblog.com/noco-gb40-vs-noco-gb70/

    I have the 1250A model. Will it turn over a 401 cu in V-8?

    • @Automoblog
      @Automoblog  Рік тому

      It might, but NOCO makes a "truck model" called the GB70 that is meant for larger engines. It has one drawback that we don't care for, but it's never failed us jumping a larger V8: ua-cam.com/video/FsfiCuefNY0/v-deo.htmlsi=Z6AS--X40hwglS66

    Ok for ranger 3.2 ?

    • @Automoblog
      @Automoblog  6 місяців тому +1

      Yes, it will be perfectly fine for Ford Rangers from the late 90s through 2011/2012 before they discontinued it. For years, I had a ranger truck with a 4.0 V6 (2001 and a 2005 model year) and jumped that battery on a few cold Nebraska mornings with less than what this new GB40 was.
      If you really want to be sure, the larger GB70 is NOCO's "truck unit." It has attached cables versus detachable ones to help deliver more punch to an ailing battery. Here is our video: ua-cam.com/video/FsfiCuefNY0/v-deo.html
      But there will be a cost difference, so that's something to consider (the GB40 could be up to $100 less expensive). So think about that but otherwise, you should be fine with the GB40. Thank you for watching our video. ~ Carl

    • @Automoblog
      @Automoblog  7 місяців тому

      No, it cannot charge a car battery ... but it can charge a smartphone or a table via the integrated charging bank on the left side of the unit.

    Can you run the car on NOCO GB40 lithium ion jump starter without a battery, and what is the longest time you could do it with the NOCO GB40 lithium ion jump starter (if the alternator is not working, so you could drive the car to the shop if it is close), if it work I will buy it.

      I'm sure they will. They probably made a million of the PCBs that they'd rather use up first instead of throwing them out for an upgrade.
