Hmmm .... if the red light on the GB70 is solid then it's reverse polarity. If it's blinking, then it means the internal battery is too hot and the GB70 needs to cool. Usually, if your vehicle's battery is bad, the "Boost" light on the unit won't come on at all. How old is your battery? It might be a good idea to just replace it anyway if it's really old.

Good points and thank you for watching our video! You probably already know this, but the way we have the RAD 380 positioned on the windshield in this video is not entirely correct ... the unit should be pointing straight forward versus tilted upward. Admittely, this was one of the first radar detector videos we did, so we have learned a lot along the way.

Thank you for your feedback. The little "engine" might be overheating and causing it to shut off as a failsafe. Also, if the exhaust port on the bottom of the vacuum is blocked or obstructed, that can also cause it. You mentioned the filter . . . The R8 and it's little brother (the R4) are both great radar detectors. We own them both. I ran with both the R8 and the R4. They both struggled through the Chicago area with false alerts and with road construction areas on I-90 in some areas of Wisconsin. Range, however, was excellent on the open expanses of I-90 through Wisconsin and Minnesota. On a relatively flat road (with the occasional hill) in rural Iowa on this same trip (Highway 75 in Plymouth County), we recorded a personal record in range detection of 4 miles with both the R8 and the MAX 360 MKII in this video. The officer was stopped on the side of the road with another car pulled over. I had the R8 in my SUV, my brother was behind me with the MAX 360 MKII. The range detection was exactly the same in this instance between the two detectors. It was a rare instance where we could drive with two detectors at the same time, but being it was a family event we were driving too, we had the opportunity. For reference: I'm the older brother and the voice of this video. I had the Uniden R8. My younger brother did the filming of this video and the editing. He had the Escort MAX 360 MKII (the radar detector in this video). I hope that helps. ~ Carl

This will come down to which style you like better . . . do you want a "two-in-one" unit that combines the radar detector and the dash camera? If so, the MAXcam 360c is the way to go. If you want the ability to remove the camera from your radar detector, then you will want to do the M2. If you like the idea of having the dash camera and the radar detector separately, go with the MAX 360c MKII with the M2. The MAXcam 360c is a MAX 360c MKII radar detector, just with the dash camera integrated. So in terms of performance for the radar detector side of things, everything is equal in terms of range detection and false alert filtering in our experience. Both are compatible with the Drive Smarter app and the settings menu (including the segmentation filters) are exactly the same. Here are some additional resources for you. Yes it does, although it's important to specify that since laser guns shoot only a narrow beam at first, many radar detectors will miss them initially. That is because the officer is aiming for a small but flat surface on your car, such as the license plate or headlight. Looking through the gun as the operator, it will appear as a small dot when you aim it. Thus, if you are the first car targeted, your radar detector (regardless of brand) will likely not alert. As the laser (i.e. LiDAR) spreads out, then a radar detector can pick it up. You will have more luck with your radar detector alerting if you are a few cars back from the initial car that is targeted by laser.

Yeah we only mention it briefly in this video . . . it's a naming thing and probably more of a technicality. The Redline 360c isn't technically part of the MAX family because "MAX" isn't in the name, but a lot of the technology inside of it (Blackfin DSP, for example) has filtered down and through the other members of the MAX family.
