It was an unwelcome discovery when I learned I hadn't bought a 30 rd mag. Thanks for the video
Thanks! Will do this tomorrow on my 2 MFT mags....I was ticked when i discovered they were 20's and not 30's. I blame MFT for not making it clear how many rounds they hold, and Academy for not changing their labels from "30 round" to "20 round." Thank you sir!!!
Academy still hasn't changed the labels, I bought six of these an hour ago and started loading them.
I'm incomprehensible, fucking catatonic with rage over this half ass limp dick marketing
Saved my life with this hack. Thanks man. Its pretty lame when you cant even see your ammo in the bullet window with a stopper there. Makes it pretty much irrelevant! Good stuff brother!
Not all heros wear capes. Thank you sir.
Yeah. I got a 15/30 in Comirado. Thanks for the guidance!
Thank you for your service 🇺🇸 This is a true testament to ‘not every hero wears a cape’. Sometimes it’s just an ordinary man doing extraordinary things for the people.
Thanks from NY👍🏽 fixed mag and I had a double feed. Was easy for me to let the spring hang and the bullets in the mag loosened up and fell easily out of the chamber!
Thank you sir. It was a little difficult to cut around the glued on stuff but once I did that it was cake from there. Great video!
This is amazing. Thank you sir.. this is proof that not all heroes wear capes.
Thanks for the video. The first one took 15 minutes the second took 5. Very easy.
I just got a couple of pro mag magazines it's the same deal I thought thay were 30 rd. Thanks for sharing this information.
Thanks for the video.. I thought I was going to have to take it to a gun shop but your video explained everything.. leave it to California to think this up..
I just bought 12 magazines from MFT today 10/30 to 30 thank you
Thanks for the video man I was lookin at this clip wondering WTF the 25 mark was for if it only fits 20. I converted both of mine and it works perfectly. I also didn’t have to remove any seals I just use a key for all of it
Yeah they got me too. I didn't realize it until I got home and tried to load it up.
Thank you! Now I know how to convert my 20/30 round magazines.... Gracias!
Thanks for doing this video. Like you I was loading away and #21 wouldn’t load. Why these things end up in retail stores in Oklahoma is a beyond me. The 20 rd capacity is listed on the packaging but it’s in small black font on an olive panel whereas the product description is in big, bold, white, easy-to-read, lettering on olive. That’s a little sketchy.
I found a vise wasn’t necessary. Holding the magazine with the front of the magazine facing left and the magazine upside down, I was able to slide a slotted screwdriver down into the hole on the left, pressing down the non-textured black tab, and pulling the screwdriver to the right. The base plate slid to the right where the screwdriver retained it from sliding off so the spring didn’t fly out and hit me it the face. I used a mitre box and handsaw to make short work of the plastic limiting tab. Thanks again.
The vice was to give me an extra hand to film more than anything. Glad it helped.
Thanks for the vid! My magazine went from 20 rounds to 31 rounds!
Thanks cause i was heated when i could only get 20 in a 30 round magazine i thought my fingers were weak 😂
Great video!! Thank you for the information!! 🇺🇲
MFT site - The bottom of the magazine is PERMANENTLY sealed and cannot be readily restored.
I was like wtf when I got home lol looks like I’ll be modifying mine lol
Great video! Thank you!
Umm.... here in Commiefornia we are NOT limited to 20 rounds in a magazine. WE ARE LIMITED TO TEN ROUNDS ! ! ! !
Damn… yet another reason to get out of that place.
15 in colorado
Just bought two I’m taking them back tomorrow and getting magpul
Thank you very much great video
One of these was given to me and I was trying to figure out why it wouldn’t go past 20? Right away found this video on UA-cam 👍🏼 easy fix . Glad I saw it because I would’ve have known to cut out the bottom piece with a razor it did seem like it was closed with plastic.
Thanks bro. I bought these mags years ago. Threw the package away and never did the mod. I forgot the base plate is sealed to the magazine and needs to be trimmed with a knife.
The plug is actually a drain hole if you want it to drain water quickly so leave it out
Thx man didn’t need a knife I just banged tf out of it with a hammer !!
thank god I got a few and saw their bloody 20 rds and I was like WTF?
Yep, they got me too. I would have just purchased a normal 30.
Thank you sir!
Thank you
FYI...
if you live in CA.... check for a manufacturers’ date stamp (found in a circle)
MUST be prior to 4/2019 to qualify for legal Freedom Week purchase.
good video. thanks man
I kept seeing these nice American flag and "Come and Take It" mags in Academy but noticed they *only* sell 20 round magazines period. For shame!
I thought maybe this conversion was possible. I actually run *40* round mags in my squirt pistols, so I still am not completely sold, but 30 is the standard.
I might consider a few more of these for events where I need my rubber band shooter.
I did the entire conversion with a few EDC tools. It could be done with any multi tool.
Bravo.thenks
Thank You
Thanks a lot
Thank you!!!
From the MFT site: "The bottom of the magazine is PERMANENTLY sealed (Glued) and cannot be readily restored. " The Hexmag's are Glued too, I have some!
Not so permanent. I followed the instructions in the video and was able to remove the mag blocks. Magazines work fine.
Where you get the springs?
The good news is these mags are only $11. Well worth it.
Bought today from Academy for 15.99
Bought today just to do this conversation lol...
Hello! thanks for the video!. Do you know if the 10 round/30 pmag has a full length spring as this 10/20 or does it have a shorter one? thanks.
I’m not sure. I would imagine it is the same spring
Totally not watching from CA 👀😂
I live in Maryland and the law is 10 rounds, my Hexmag that’s supposed to be a 10 round mag won’t work , it drops out of my rifle if I put 9 in it works fine
I’ve got one or two that I have to slam extra hard with 30 and don’t have to with 29. The other option is to put the magazine in with the bolt to the rear and that might help you.
The hex mags I bought here in Jersey are capped at 10 and just like with the MFT mags you gotta give it a love tap or 2 to make sure it's seated properly
In Commie Fornia it’s only 10 rds per mag by the way
I'm so confused because I bought the 30 round MFT window mag same exact one and it holds 30 rounds
California only allows 10 round magazines!
Yea that was bull I thought it was just cheaper because it wasn't magpul 😢
Bought one at academy ,Texas. Thought was a mistake, wrong! I changed mine this morning. Word of advice not worth the money or time to change capacity. Took me 1/2 hr to save a dollar!!!!
I totally agree would just buy a 30 round mag and spend the buck, but if you have one you bought by mistake or live in Commifornia then this is an easy hack.
It’s still a pain to get the bottom off even after cutting with a knife lol
I prefer to keep that plastic and hold 20 round to extend the spring lifespan
I hear ya. No one is making it mandatory to take it out. If you’re happy with a 20 round magazine keep what you like. I will say this, I don’t think the spring is really affected too much. I spent 11 years in the Marine Corps Infantry and never once had a Mag that had a spring compression issue.
@@christopherhelms559 even with the old mags in bootcamp, they worked fine
Or just load 20rd after removing limiter smh.....
Or do what I did and chuck it in the trash once you realize whatever they used to glue the plate to the sides of the mag make it impossible to remove. I had the cheaper $11 one so not an expensive lesson.
This might sounds like a joke but you could saw your mag in half and sand both sides and super glue back together. Might be stupid and pointless but I have a bunch of pmags 30 and I wanted something under 15rds for a rifle that could sit close to the dirt
@@dsilva6074 Yeah it is as stupid as it sounds, when you could just buy 10 round mags.
Is it the same for a 10 round mft mag ?
I would imagine so but can’t confirm.
Yeah I did this I got 15 of the Useless things I broke 23 base plates trying to even do what you’ve done I’ve used a heat gun I’ve done every message I know I’ve only got seven of them to actually open up right so yeah I’m gonna be around a bunch of base plates now
I wouldn't over feed the mag if I was u bruv, it could jam easier
How has it worked for you since then?
Haven’t had a malfunction yet. It is literally just a plastic block that just needed to be trimmed.
If you put them back together the way it came then it should work just fine. All you're doing us cutting that plastic block out.
Still working like a champ
This helped but damn these mags are TRASH.
Mine have functioned just fine. I don’t like that we have to modify them ourselves.
So who'd you vote for?...... JK, thanks for the vid. MD only gets ten rounds, but we know what to do about that👍🏿
Is it still 20 in ca? I always thought it was 10
Yeah it is 10. Sorry I live in the great state of Texas and I was not current on my Cali law. Same concept though.
@@christopherhelms559 same lame shit either way, huh?
Is it safe if i do it with a hot knife?
I assume it would be fine to do that.
@@christopherhelms559 I don't have MFT's, but I do have the Series 2 Hexmags that are now GLUED and Riveted and you can't cut the bases because of the Hexmag "shelf" design of the base plate!
California has been 10rd for years
Why are these even capped at 20 when most restricted states are at 10? Such a weird cap. All of these MFTs I see in Florida are limited at 20 and we are unrestricted on capacity.
Same in Texas. Not sure why, but they obviously know people are going to do this. Lawsuits cause some of the stupidest rules.
Ditto for Oklahoma. There's no limit on capacity here but they're selling 20 round magazines? I could read that before I get done on the commode.
Hack saw faster, don’t have to plug in!
I bought 3 thinking it was 30. I live in Florida why do they even put it on shelves!!!
Same thing we have here in Texas. Makes zero sense.
Longest video ever, for getting some trim
HAHAHA I see what you did there.
strange. The little black plastic insert is molded to the bottom. I cut around the edge as deep as possible and it wont budge :(
Mine just popped right out. I’ve seen where people drill them out with a small drill bit.
@@christopherhelms559 that’s what I had to do
Ended up drilling it out! Not worth saving a dollar.cut with hack saw cleaner cut.
Love the Trump sticker!!!
And why? P mags are plentiful, and inexpensive, I would never trust a modified mag
I’m not suggesting go out and buy one just to modify it, but if you did buy one and want to modify it you can. Also the “modification” is literally cutting a piece of plastic smaller. It isn’t like you’re changing the entire function of it. 🙄
I’ve shot each of these “modified” magazines multiple times with ZERO issue.
Jerseys only 10 lol
lol comifornia…
Weird how Trump shit on the 2nd Amendment during his whole term.
Even weirder that you felt the need to make that comment instead of taking the real point of the video which was about converting a magazine to 30 rounds.
@@christopherhelms559 Just thought you oughtta be made aware. 🤷♂️ Somebody's gotta tell ya. Then again, you people don't listen.
Go troll somewhere else snowflake.
FJB
You forgot to put the trump sticker as a essential tool, or else you won’t hear the bald eagles screem when you shoot it 🦅
😂
In communist countries 40 round mags are permitted!
Well not by the ordinary citizens. Only the State police
411 .... Kalifornicate is TEN ROUNDS! Not 20.
What's the deal, according to the MFT Website their 10 or 20/30 Mags are SEALED and can't be converted!! "The bottom of the magazine is PERMANENTLY sealed and cannot be readily restored. " Is this recent or something??? Hexmag has done the same, GLUED and Riveted the bottom plate. I have a couple of the 10/30 Hexmags and you CAN'T cut the bottom Glued areas because of the design, it's a "shelf" design and you can't get a cutting blade to the glued areas!
