In this video I show how to fix a kitchen faucet with low hot water pressure. The same method could be used to fix a kitchen faucet with low cold water pressure. By employing this method, I am flushing out the faucet mixing valve by allowing, in my case, cold water from the faucet to backflush the hot water side of the faucet, and having the sediment and debris from the mixing valve empty out in the bucket that has the hot water drain line placed into it.

This video saved my sanity. After tearing apart a wall to replace a supply line that had been clogged, I put everything back together only to find the hot side still had low pressure. I was ready to tear it all back out, but googled the problem first. I was able to clear the debris from the mixing valve in seconds. You, sir, are my hero.

Helped me today big time! It worked, I had to reconnect the hot water supply line, turn the valve back on. Turn back off and repeat probably 10 times. Each time seeing more debris and eventually more flow. Then I hooked it back up and there was more pressure than ever! Just wanted to say that in case someone thinks it's not working. Keep putting it back together, run it, take it back apart see if you're still getting more debris and it will eventually clear out. At least ours did! So stoked!

You deserve an Academy Award for “Best Useful Advice of the DECADE”!
I have 5 bathroom Delta faucets, 2 kitchen Delta faucets and 1 laundry room Delta faucet. One of the faucets had very LOW HOT WATER FLOW RATE. I tried your extremely simple advice and now the hot water flow rate is exactly as good as the cold water flow rate. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  • @chihack

Yes! Did the trick for me. A finer point on the sequence, at least, this is what I found. Start with the valve open on the hot side, rotate to cold (keeping valve open), run for 5 secs (or more), switch back to hot (again, staying open). Leave it on the hot side and allow the water to release out of the hot line. 5-10 seconds. When it slows to barely a drip, repeat the sequence. As you repeat the sequence, you'll see less and less water backing out of the line. When I got no more backflow, I re-connected. I did the whole thing three times, with debris coming out each time. I could've kept going, but I'm inpatient, and it came back to 95% of the cold water side, which was good enough for me. Thanks!

I didn’t get very much sediment out of my 1.5 year Moen kitchen sink, but the few bits of white must have been enough to slow the flow, as the technique worked.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I was getting so frustrated. I just installed a new kitchen faucet today. I had to pull it all back apart and make sure there were no blockages. I checked the supply lines too. Then I was told there might be a blockage from my water heater to my sink. My water heater is in my attic. I was not happy to hear I might have to crawl up there and possibly go into a wall looking for a clogged pipe. ALL other faucets were working perfectly. Then I jumped on here desperate and found your video. It took less than 5 minutes and ALL this black rubber looking rocks/gunk came out. It's working perfectly now. You rock!!!

This worked like a charm on my Pfister kitchen one handle faucet. After 8 years or so, the cold water pressure was fine but the hot water was down to almost a trickle. I was about to buy a new kitchen faucet. I tried this 3 times and after each time I would hook up the hot water line and turn on the valve. Each time I redid this I got a little more sediment and now the hot and cold are the same pressure. Thanks!!!

Like other people on this comment section, this video saved me a visit from the plumbers. Thank you! For people trying this out: to have the cold water back flow into the hot water supply line, you need to have the water on from the faucet and shift it slowly from the hot and cold position. Hope this helps.

I read tons of articles, watched a bunch of videos, and could NOT get my damn hot water to improve on my kitchen faucet. I was this close to calling a plumber when I decided to try again, and your video saved the day! Sent a donation in as thanks :)

@@HomeAdditionPlus unfortunately the fix didn't stick, but now I think I know the location at least. I'll have to try to do some more rinsing, and maybe unmount the faucet (the hose goes up into the faucet and I can't access the faucet side connector from under the sink)

This totally helped! I had already run water through the line so I knew it wasn't clogged. I unhooked the hot water line and did this flush. I found out that the o-ring had turned sideways. I reseated it and was good to go! Thanks for the video and the recommendation!

Thank you! Your method worked just like your video showed. The gunk that came out looked very similar to yours. What a relief!

Thank you!! This fixed my problem, after I had to replace the hot water heater. A few small specks of rusted metal for flushed out, and it then worked perfectly.
