You need to either clean your aerator or purchase a new one as mentioned in the video.
Frankly, it's way too complicated buying an aerator but I'll do my best to explain below what you need to know.
If you have a newer faucet on the aerator cap (housing) they will print the Max GPM (gallons per minute) on the cap. Typical GPM are 1.2 - 2.2 GPM. Lower GPM will be less pressure but you'll save on water bills. Higher GPM will create a stronger flow.
For what it's worth, on my two newer faucets it said max GMP of 1.5.
You'll want to determine the aerator size as well.
This tool makes this easy: Amazon (paid link) buyersguides.co/danco-aerator
It's a multifunctional aerator tool made by Danco that is helpful with removing internal aerators common to kitchen sinks. If you click through the images the fourth image explains the four sizes of aerators.
1. Standard
2. Tiny Junior
3. Junior
4. Tom Thumb
On that image, it will show you how you can use a penny, dime, nickel or quarter to determine the aerator size as well. The tool itself can do this too by comparing the teeth of the tool against your aerator. Those same teeth are used to unscrew internal aerators that are common in kitchen faucets.
Once you know the GPM you want and the size of the aerator... you'll need to decide on the type of water flow you want.
There are three main types:
1. Spray
2. Laminar
3. Aerated
Spray - This is common in cheaper hotels or school bathrooms where the water is shot out in a spray to mimic a miniature shower pattern. This is suggested for public bathrooms.
Laminar - This is pure non-aerated water which is great for a non-splashing stream. These look classier in my opinion.
Aerated - This is a traditional style where you'll see little bubbles in the stream which create a whiter stream that is soft and non-splashing. These are the most common in households.
If you look at this dual spray kitchen aerator, in the images you'll see that it offers spray and aerated. Amazon (paid link) buyersguides.co/aerator-fauce...
This aerator is a laminar flow: Amazon (paid link) buyersguides.co/faucet-lamina...
This will have that pure stream look where the water looks clear. These are common in higher end faucets.
The last item I'll mention is thread size. Every aerator is either male or female threaded.
If you look at the 1:18 mark of the video you can see that this aerator cap has male threads (they're on the outside of the aerator cap) and the faucet itself has female threads hidden inside of the faucet head. Most faucets are like this but yours might be reversed.
So chances are you're looking for a male thread aerator if you're buying the housing.
Regular/Standard size aerators = 15/16" male threaded or 55/64" female threaded
Junior size = 13/16" male threaded or 3/4" female threaded.
Tom Thumb size is metric = M18x1 for male and M16x1 female threaded.
If you have a delta faucet I'd go with this ⇨ Amazon (paid link) buyersguides.co/delta-fauncet...
If you have a moen faucet this should work - Amazon (paid link) buyersguides.co/moen-3919

Good morning!
My kitchen faucet pressure is low but the spray gun is working perfectly fine
My neighbor called a plumber, and cost him hundreds of dollars. When my restroom faucet plugged like his, I check youtube for people like you and fix the problem for nothing. I am now a subscriber, thanks.
Maybe share this knowledge with your neighbor instead of posting a UA-cam comment and acting superior. Lol
@@codyrebelcb??? read the framing of their comment. it’s pretty obvious he looked up the information AFTER the neighbor already payed for the plumbing, maybe you should stop acting so saint like.
Sometimes you can soak it in vinegar. Then scrubb it a little..😊
Pro tip. Wrap your Plier jaws with a little electrical tape and you won’t mar the chrome on the faucet.
Another way is using the handles of the pliers to take of the aerorator. The rubber handles grip surprisingly well.
wish I read this about 3 mins ago 🤣
Alexander Supertramp yeah because a small piece of tape is sooo expensive
Wow! Thanks a Lot. 👍🏾👊🏾✌🏾🇳🇬🇺🇸
Just fixed mine in 3 minutes, thank you sir. World needs more channels like this one. Short and simple, and very helpful.
Thank you! My faucet water was extremely low to the point it was just about dripping when turned on for 8 months. A plumber is too expensive for me. Finally, I thought to search for solutions on internet. This video was the first I seen which less than two weeks ago. Today, I went to Home Depot seen a variety of aerators in the plumbing section. I asked for help from a rep who referred me to another rep that pointed out a universal aerator for $4.97. I purchased it. Got home, located my wrench, removed old aerator, and replaced it with new one. The job took less than 30 SECONDS. Now, my water flows out great! THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR WISDOM!!! It has resolved an 8 month issue and only cost me less than $6 with tax! :-)
Thanks soo much. Quick fix and I used CLR to clean my current aerator. Worked like a charm. I appreciate how there was no fluff in your content too. Hate the big intros people usually do.
I was having this issue for about a week. Watched this video yesterday and said to myself, "there's no way the fix could be that simple". Went out and bought a new aerator and to my surprise, it actually worked! Thank you so much for the video. Appreciate it greatly! 😀👍
Sink completely stopped working. I cleaned the aerator and now it works good as new. Great video!
That was my problem.thank you! I feel stupid now that I let this problem go unresolved for months and embarrassing to say maybe even a few years knowing I was too lazy to try to remove this and get a new one . And thank you UA-cam for providing a platform like this . This has been my 5th or 6th home repair that I've relied on youtube videos to fix. I've fixed my dryer heating element..my freezer defroster .. I've repaired my window screens and installed new ones using UA-cam instructionals and now this!!! Saved so much money!!
It worked!!!!!!!! Thank you so very much!!!! We definitely didn’t need another huge expense at this time!
Thank you so much! I thought I might have a leak under the house, but you helped me fix the low water pressure. I love these how to videos.
Eric, good show, brother. One tip: Before you install the new aerator run both the HOT and COLD a few seconds to push any debris out of the faucet or it with immediately get into your brand new aerator. Cheers.
edpdx50 Nice tip. I think I actually did that (just because I know I would've been curious to see how the faucet worked without the aerator but I don't think it made it on the video. I added an annotation crediting you with the tip.Thanks.
I didn't do this and Bang! Another piece of debris got stuck in mine.
You rescued me! THANKS for your video! Simple fix! Aerator was blocked by crud. Cleaned it and restored water pressure to normal!
Thank you so much. I live in an apartment complex. Sink has been like this for 2 months waiting on maintenance. You solved my problem by showing me this. Thank you
Was skeptical it would be that simple, but sure enough, that was it!
fax
It worked for my bathroom sink as well. We paid 4 bucks and some change from our local hardware store. Thanks so much!!! (:
Thanks so much! Have been noticing low pressure in one of my faucets and watched this video- fixed it in 2 minutes!
Absolutely awesome video! Watched it once and was able to solve my bathroom faucet water just trickling out. Thanks!
Thank you!!! That was the easiest plumbing fix ever...done in 5 minutes.
Thank you! Water flow is back to normal. Glad my issue was an easy fix :)
Thank you soooooo much. I was able to fix the water pressure of my bathroom sink ALL BY MYSELF! You saved me time and money. So thanks for sharing your expertise
Thanks a bunch! That was so much easier and cheaper than I thought it would be.
Great advice. I’d just changed out a cartridge for a leaking faucet; now low water pressure! Removed cap & cleaned it. Will replace it ASAP with a new screen/filter.
Thanks ! Swapping it was easy and fixed the issue. Only cost me 3$ !
thanks, dude. I'll try that on my faucet
How'd it go?
thank you so much i google my question and this came up. thought this wouldn't be the thing and this worked for both my kitchen and bathroom sink. i had to just clean the aerators on both and now they work fine!!! thank you soooo much.
i too was pretty skeptical. i was like “no way its gonna be that easy”. i’ve literally been dealing with a slow sink for months and been dreading the call to my maintenance office. little did i know a simple youtube search would help my problems. thank so much!
Thank you so much what an easy fix! I have been dealing with this low water pressure for months and after watching your video it took me less than 2 minutes to solve the problem! I didn't even purchase a new aerator I just used the old one and popped out the other parts so all that all that was left was the screen.
Omg THANK YOU BUNCHES 😄 I am so thankful for you sharing! I watched this and immediately went to my bathroom and fixed the problem... my water pressure in my faucet was driving me nuts for months! All is well now, thanks to you! YAYYYY😁😄😁😄👏🙌🙏
Thank you so much!! I had a different issue where the water was spewing out somewhat sideways and this fixed it. I just unscrewed it and rescrewed it!
Thanks for the video. There was a little piece stuck in the top of my aerator. After I removed that from the piece it flowed great
😃 Flippin awesome, thank you.
Thanks so much. Thought I was going to have to call a plumber. My bathroom faucet had very low pressure. I took your advice and it is working great.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH! this is really helpful.
Thank you so much. This just happened out of the blue and I was so frustrated!! Never would have thought it was the aerator.
I tried your method and it worked thank you so much!!
You saved me so much trouble. Thank you,,sir!!
Thanx, didnt know what was wrong with my sink anymore. But i just fixed it, didnt replace the cap, I instead dumped it in a bup full of vinegar, left it there about 2 hours and put it back on. Worked like a charm.
THANX
Thank you for this. For me there was something like black ashes in the aerator and inside the faucet so I juust had to clean them them both and put it back in and WALA !! It's even better than before
Just ordered one. Thanks for the vid.
Thank you! Solved my problems!
I can't believe it was that easy! I was sure my landlord had pulled some kind of lever under the sink the last time he was here... Decided to give this a go since it couldn't hurt, and sure enough... now I can finally wash my hands properly in the bathroom after months of annoyance :P I didn't even buy a new piece, just scrubbed down the one that was already in there. Ran the hot water before replacing it, and lots of brown water came out before it turned clear.
01:20 Mine was not idiot proof as it had no colors on it, and the beam that sprouted out of my sink when I first put it up-side-down was quite...interesting :') Best part was when I told my husband: "Look, I fixed the sink!" and then had the water sprouting everywhere xD I knew what I had done though, so I quickly turned it and I think he still loves me :P
One tip, when removing your Aerator with pliers or channel locks , use the handle that has the padding as not to scratch the aerator coating. 👍🏼
thank you this worked perfectly!
Thanks buddy you saved me from paying lots of money. immediately I fixed my bathroom faucet after watching your video. Two years ago a friend of mine called a plumber and paid 600 canadian dollar. Thank you so much for your help.
@kibreem...
I respect plumbers and their expertise; but when they overcharge for a service, that is a blemish on a great profession.
I got overcharged by HVAC... :(
Thanks,
While replacing Stem due to slow drip that I didn't want to wait to turn into a steady drain, I dislodge debris when turning off the valves, or removing the stems).
It was driving me crazy because it worked, then it was slow, then nothing.
Didn't even think it could be the aerator being clogged. Hopefully, I remember this in the future.
My faucet was running really slow and I saw a video that was much longer that had a more complex issue that had me losing hope... then I sought out a shorter video with hopes I'd find a more "favorable" problem with an easier solution. I find this video and the rest is history... history = my problem was fixed by watching this video and spending $5 at Home Depot. Thanks
Thanks for the video. I put mines in my sonic wave jewelry cleaner and works like a charm!
Thank you soooo much! I hope it works for me to! Just ordered the part! Have a good one!
Did it work?
thankyou, this really helped out.
Fixed my bathroom sink.only had a trickle of water coming out. Took out my aerator and cleaned it and it's good as new 👍
Thank you for helping me to fix the sink .Save me from calling a plumber and the
faucet cost only $2. Awesome!
Worked like a charm!! Thanks!!! UA-cam saves this 1st time homebuyer some money once again!!! ❤❤❤
Problem fixed. Thank you!!

Hell yeah!! Tanks Bud, Doin it right.
This fixed my faucet, thank you! 👍
I opened mine and it was dirty so I gave it a clean and works perfectly fine thanks
Yup this worked like a charm thank you sir
Thank you sir, you just saved me a big plumbers bill and mine did clean up with vinegar.
Just fixed our bathroom sink...my son thinks I am a fixing genius. The contractors who installed the faucet put it on backwards....so righty tightly and lefty loosey were also backwards. I thought it was permanently welded on but nope just backwards.
Many thanks.
You is a life saver, Thanks
you are the mothereffing man, thank you!!
Thank you sooooo much!
Straight to the point!!!!
💖💛💖💖
Thanks, you just saved my Sunday. 👍
Thank you so much! It feels great knowing that was the issue for my sink. Easy fix
Thanks bro...this information solved my issue.
Wow. I didnt know i was this easy.
Yep fixed it... thank you
Thx! I ended up just cleaning mine out. Surprisingly I had a small piece of black rubber in mine. Similar to the gasket.
Had my water heater replaced 10 days ago and then only bathroom cold faucet began to run slow, then the hot. Next both just dribbled. After viewing video I tried it. Lots of sediment so I put a bowl in the sink when I cleaned the hole the aerator came from and ran the water. Used a vinegar bath for about 5 minutes and picked out any sediment with a safety pin. Original aerator popped back in and I now have free flowing water. Thank you so much
Very useful.
Did the same as mentioned....got expected result. thanks
Thanks for the tip, it worked like a charm 😀
it's funny. This just started happening to my sink in the bathroom this morning. Glad I know this is going to be easy
Thank you for guide me to solve my problem
THANK YOU!! You just saved me several hundred dollars! If a plumber had come over and been able to fix the problem I'm about a minute, would he have pretended to be working for longer in order to make it seem like a more complicated problem and justify charging hundreds of dollars?
I just had an expensive pressure line repaired in the backyard for 460 no hot water for 3 weeks. Shortly after I discovered there was no pressure in the faucet in the bathroom I called the plumber back he didn't answer found your viedo an it's fixed thank you
You are amazing! Fixed my faucet in seconds!!
Great video. Did this in 5 minutes flat. Did increase pressure dramatically, however cold water pressure is really low, so must be in the actual lines going up.
Thank you so much fixed it under a minute thank you brother
will try this...thanks for sharing
Thank you very much! It worked
What about for showers ? With low pressure . I like filters on my shower too so I'm wondering if there's someway to get better pressure along with still having a filter ? Very nice video by the way thanks for sharing
Thank you
Thanks man 11/10/2023 you helped somebody
Thank you so much. I been lookup everything on how to get better water pressure. Do you have anything for shower head and tub faucet?
Thank you Eric!!
Awesome thank you! Helped me out
Oscar Zaragoza Glad to hear it! Mines still going strong and doing a much better job of keeping my sink cleaner now.

Thank you from the UK!
I thought no way mine is going to be that easy but it was! Thanks!!
Thanks nice information two taps are being repaired
thank you so much ! its perfect now appreciate a lot:)
Thanks this was very helpful!👌👌👌
If you have a cache sink and don't have a Aerator Key, a quarter will work! Mine worked like a charm, cleaned it out and water pressure is back to normal.
thanks for the help
God bless youtube for simple fixes to potentially expensive problems!
Thank you so much!! I was about ready to call a plumber, you just saved my some cash.
Video helped me so much!
Thank you for this video! It just saved me from having to call my landlord! It was such an easy fix.

When I figured this out, I was like "You gotta be kidding me!?!" because that sink didn't work well for over a year. Such an easy fix. Thanks for the comment.
Thank you so much
