- One of the greatest arcade games ever is WWF Wrestlefest, and while Arcade1Up has done a great job with getting games, we probably will never see Wrestlefest due to licensing issues. So I decided to turn my Final Fight cab into a modded Arcade1Up WWF Wrestlefest with Retropie (not that WWE Wrestlefest from 2012!) How did it turn out? Let's find out!

I remember playing this the entire summer it released. My grandparents had a caravan on the east coast of England and the arcades there was massive. I was in the arcade the day this arrived and it blew my mind. I'd never seen anything so beautiful. I played it every day of that school summer holidays.

My favourite arcade game. After a fair bit of trial and error I got this working on my Super Nintendo Mini and it's fantastic. Highly recommended 👍 👍
Dude, yes. Your enthusiasm for this old school stuff, I grew up in 80’s too, is awesome. I used to love that arcade vibe when I was a kid and seeing you with a full game room is just amazing.

There's actually a new direct sequel to Wrestlefest coming out called Retromania, for all the consoles plus PC. It looks very cool. I'm just glad there'll be at least 1 good wrestling game out for the switch, after the disaster that was the 2K one

This was the coolest thing you ever did. I personally would prefer the superstars cabinet tho. It looks more retro. I like Superstars a little better because it has Savage, Elizabeth & Andre the Giant. Not to take anything away from this. Looks great!
Wow you killed it with the Wrestlefest Idea. 80s and 90s wrestling along with the 8bit and 16 bit gaming era bring the nostalgia on this to an all time high. This was work all the work that was put into it.

Used to play this at a “Sun Dome” hotel, remember those? Where it a pool and a garden dome that made all the hotel rooms humid. Oh the 90’s

I laugh when people say that No Mercy or SD: Here Comes The Pain are the best wrestling games ever. No other game has so perfectly captured the mood and energy of wrestling like WrestleFest does!
Man we're like the opposite. Final Fight was the last arcade game I ever got to play at Pizza Hut before they stopped putting cabinets in there (also used to play it on MAME and it ran so poorly) But I never got to play Wrestlefest in an arcade. A local Pocket Change had it but it never worked.
I gotta agree with you on having way too many games in a multi cab, or a collection of roms. I never know what to play.
When I make my own cabinet I'm definitely limiting the amount of games I have in it.

Dude that is sooo freakin' sweet! I've thought about mods but I would definitely pick one that I know for sure that Arcade1up won't (or can't) do. WWF Wrestlefest is definitely one they won't be able to do so good choice and the cabinet looks fucking sick! I also agree with you about putting excess games on a cabinet and it being overkill, not interested in having one cabinet with 8000 games. I grew up in the arcade so I want those multiple machines for nostalgia sake.
I would love a SMASH TV cabinet, which I'm hopeful they'll do.

It’s a much better game than this tbh.
I bought a 6 button custom deck for my pretty useless astroids cab. It was relatively inexpensive, I think $65. It came with a baby blue T molding and a nice thick textured astroids graphic already installed. So that's an option anyone stuck with a weird button layout or two buttons. Also the raspberry pi 4 is a beast of an emulation machine, so go with that over the 3!
I won a arcade tournament at a bowling alley playing this game, got a trophy and a jar of stickers lol! I've always wanted to make a mod for the old school wrestling arcade, The Main Event. I think it was the first wrestling game with an announcer.
I actually have a WWF Superstars arcade machine in my living room. I've restored it and added a switcher so I could put in Wrestlefest. (which is what I play 99% of the time)

Back in the the day this was one of my favorite arcades! This is when the roster was the best and I wish they could have double the amount of wrestlers from that time period and include more tag teams. Great work on the machine!!
Amazing! One of my favorite games as a kid plus it had one of my heroes in it: "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig. Had it as an emulator for a few years but that computer fried, LOL.
RGT, I modded my SF2, and the coin buttons, I ended up drilling the holes on the J panel in the front (under the control deck). That way, I didn't have to drill into the control panel itself, and if I ever sold mine (though I don't know why I would), replacing that panel and putting it back to stock is easy. Just buy a drill bit from harbor freight, measure 11" from the left and right sides, mark it, drill it out, and you're done. It'll take you 10 min tops. Awesome cab btw, this was the first game I booted when I modded mine as well. It's so damn nostalgic!
I did the same to mine. Do not drill into control panel, drill below!
If you don't feel comfortable drilling in the j panel they make a pre drilled j panel for $10 that also comes with spots for mounting speakers also. I forgot what website I got mine on. But then I added buttons that look like the old coin buttons on arcades.

I'm not into modding the arcade1ups myself but I would definitely do it for games that I know will never be able to be released by them. This is definitely one of them.

I used to love going to Milford amusement Center and then a little bit up the road they had a funcoland.Ahhh memories.I would love to go back to 1995 just for a day.
Remember when you'd just be surrounded by 1000s of retro games at Funcoland, shelves and shelves and racks and shelves, all low priced, and that was just TOTALLY NORMAL? Took those days for granted.

Would be cool, but it would have to have some editing done in the event they can't use some of the wrestlers as well as edit the WWF logo to the WWE logo.

Wrestlefest is THE GREATEST arcade game ever made. If I can only play one arcade game for the rest of my life, then wrestlefest would be it. Totally worth every quarter I put in over the years.

What you can do is drill a hole to the left and the right of the front panel under the control board for your coin and start button. It's a hassle free way and looks sharp.

Use a spray bottle full of water and a small amount of dish soap or even Windex to lightly mist those panels before you lay those decals. I prefer Windex but it dries a lot faster so you have to work faster. After you mist the panel use a credit card wrapped with a microfiber cloth to slowly squeegee the decal on. If you get a bubble poke a hole in the center of it with a needle and then use the credit card to squeegee it flat. It will look like it came from the factory when your done. The dry method can be unforgiving if your not careful.

You’re right it’s such a good game! Luckily they also had Final Fight at some point, Desert Storm (I think it was called that?), Golden Axe, and a few others.

If you plug a USB keyboard into the Pi and press TAB while mame is running..... you should be able to change the button configurations
Why dont you map the combined press of Start and One of the P1 buttons to the insert coin function
Then you dont need to faff around at the back of the arcade
I'm sure Spawn could talk you through it if you're not sure

if you don’t wanna drill holes yet just have the buttons stick out the front under control panel. OR DIY Retro Arcade sells a front panel with two holes drilled out. the panel under control panel

I'd buy an arcade1up with WWF Wrestlefest, WWF Superstars,& WWF Wreslemaina. Legends of Wrestling would also go nice in the cab also.
Greatest wrestling game ever! If you haven't done it yet you should put the coin buttons on the front kick panel & use custom coin slot buttons. Also if you don't already have it on their I"ve seen a great double dragon WWF mod.

I love it! U definitely need a button upfront somewhere to access easier. I saw RAIDEN on your list! I just bought a ORIGINAL X-ARCADE MACHINE with a 27in. CRT Wells Gardner in it! It's in Nice Shape and comes with the TANKSTICK...I'm using a PS2 with Adapters for now, but moving on to my Xbox Mods with Coinops and Ninja once I get the Xbox/PS3 adapter. Can't wait!

No brainer... I’d make an Aliens Vs Predator Arcade 1-Up! Probably out of the TMNT 1-Up. The AVP game that Capcom made it the 90’s was great. Predator Warrior was my dude!
I’d keep all the TMNT games on there and load up on other 4 player classics like X-Men, The Simpsons, lots of beat ‘emthe ups, and some of the Gauntlet games for good measure.
I’d also look into modding a Street Fighter 2 cabinet to play SNES games...
