I love that a cottage industry has sprung up around the 1up machines and people have created a community for it. The manufacturer is out there just making a product and the enthusiasts are coming together to enhance it, personalize it, grow it.
Awesome review. It must be a great feeling being able to share these classic games with your daughter. I had no idea these existed. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Awesome video. I was fortunate enough to get started before the pandemic, when I was able to pickup Rampage and Space Invaders for $75 ea, and Street Fighter II for $150. I paid full price for Costco MKII package. I have since modded 3 cabinets with Raspberry pi, a PC, and Nintendo Switch / PS5 capabilities. There are just so many options and possibilities available. Definitely a fun, fun rabbit hole!!
Insane work was put into this vid! Esp the naming of reams of games, each with a few seconds of audio too. Great job! Also u have great taste, MK2 is my fav cabinet of all time 😍
SAme with you. Always wanted an arcade at home. First time I saw these ARcade 1 was in WalMart for NBA Jam. It blew my mind, especially know you can play online. Ever since I got Simpsons and working on mod. Best thing ever. REALLY FOUND MY HAPPINESS

Thank you for the help and tips! I just started piecing together my Raspberry Pi powered Arcade 1Up cab, so I've been trying to find as much info and how to's as possible. Also, I love to see you getting your daughter involved in arcade gaming. I have a 2 year old little girl who I plan to raise the same way:)
I just pulled the trigger and bought 1up mortal Kombat 30th anniversary and street fighter yoga flame edition cabinets today 💪 can't wait to put play them. My first 1ups👍🏾
Fantastic! Been looking into buying my first home arcade when I entered this rabbit hole of home arcades and was overwhelmed with information. This video was very helpful! Thanks!
Dude… this is awesome content. You have absolutely inspired me to get an MK II unit and mod it myself. I had been thinking of going the lazy route and buying one modded, but this is the way. Awesome game recommendations, too.
@@triborn217 Haha! I did! I ended up getting a Simpsons unit (couldn't find the MK) and ordered from Upgrade Arcade - awesome service and install went pretty well. Now well over a year into it, I am thinking about selling this one and getting a larger, full-size from them. The 4 player Simpsons unit is a bit cramped.
I have 3 cabs myself and still it's just so cool to drool the home(r) arcades of others - yours included. The feeling, the art on the cabs and the room's lighting makes so much of the experience. Have not modded my cabs although it would be fun, just so expensive.

Whoaa.. Beautiful arcade Frankie!! I loved tmnt, mario3 and mk2! I also liked playing girl characters, that's why mk2 and street fighter were my top picks.
I was lucky and super happy picking up the Capcom Legends 14-in-1 cab at Walmart on clearance for under $250. definitely looking forward to sprucing it up a bit with some LED strips and maybe replacing the buttons and joystick with higher quality gear.
I just got the newer Simpsons cabinet on sale at Wal-Mart for $200!!! I had been on the fence for awhile but an awesome sale changed my mind, now to start the modding as I want hundreds of games not just two
Only mods I made to my MK2 cabinet was I swapped out the stock 4 way gates on the joysticks for 8-way octagonal gates which is what they should have had stock. The joysticks also felt weak and spongy to me with very little resistance so I removed the stock springs in them and added 4 pound springs.
Great video I really enjoyed your story. Another option and what I did was a bit more involved I found an original cabinet arcade game called Twin Cobra. Stuck a Multicade / Jamma board it was a 60-1 direct plug and play. It plugged directly into the Jamma PCB Board. The only downside is original cabinets way so much. I had a real hard time getting it into the basement. I picked up the Cabinet for $200 and the Multicade board was $50 so for $250 I got a real authentic Arcade Game with 60 titles. I'm so upset that I sold it. I think the Arcade1Up is the most feasible approach to this and then spending the time to get a Pi4 with with a prebuilt image.
Honestly, if they made it, I'd buy an EJ's Donkey Kong cabinet in a second. As is I'll probably flirt with the notion of picking up an MKII or Pacman machine for the next few months.
Another great UA-cam channel for retro game recommendations would have to be Flophouse Plays. Matt McMuscles has played all kinds of hidden gem beat 'em ups that would be perfect for one's custom cab.
3:25 I wish my local Ollies had those machines because that is an Ollies Bargain Outlet ad. We're saving for a home and I plan turning a spare bedroom into an arcade.
build a mame cab, you can use genuine buttons and joysticks, the decals are reproduced and available and you can build it to full scale (with working coin mechs) you can use mame to add multiple effects to a mimic a CRT screen too.
You gotta constantly be checking Brickseek to see if they go on clearance. I got the first TMNT that only ONE walmart had on clearance for $200. I've heard of people finding them on clearance as low as $60
Look into just getting an At Games Legends cab instead. It is awesome and cheaper in the long run and you can just stick a USB with all the games in it
I replaced the screen on my mortal Kombat 2 cabinet with a 17 inch dell monitor took off the control panel and threw on a Pandora’s box 12 it’s awesome, next is leds and speakers

I’ve gotten a few A1Ups so far. Star Wars I’m modding with a PC to also play other yoke controller games like Star Wars Battle Pods, STUN Runner, Vindicators, and the like; converting a PAC-Man to a dedicated Qbert & Congo Bong; Tron; Dragon’s Lair I’m considering modding, Pong pub table, Simpsons 4 player cab I plan to mod for other 4 pl games and a MK cab I’m going to mod into a buttons only control panel for games like Armor Attack, Asteroids and Space Duel
If youre interested the Yoga Flame model, it runs on Android 10 and has a sd card slot. Ive got all sorts of emulators and the like on it. As long as the emulator as an apk file youre gtg. I know redream and Duckstation automatically set the controller although you may need to remap the buttons. I literally play Power Stone and JoJos Bizarre Adventure.

Is Donkey Kong a A1Up release? Seems as essential to an 80s collection as Pac-man, but its not on their website. I just got Big Blue and Class of 81. Both came undamaged and relativelty pain free to assemble with no missing parts. Some instruction illustrations were wrong, but reading ahead resolved that. I have no idea why they make the kid sized cabinets given that the target audience is probably mostly Gen X adults. Doesnt make sense. Kids would be just as happy playing some console game. The stools are like meh, but thats the case for all bar stools now days. Overall I am glad I got the cabinets and actually cant wait to add a few more to the collection. "Super Mario Advance," which was a remaster of Super Mario Bros. 2 for the Gameboy Advance. It's in many ways the same version as SMB2 for Mario All Stars for the SNES, but they changed some of the sprites and also added in a lot of sound effects, like Mario's voice.
