    I planted Bald Cypress trees from seed in this video. There are many different methods on how to stratify bald cypress seeds. I took my advice from Dr Carl Whitcomb. Watch the video and see the method he suggested.

    Bald Cypress are a hard tree not to love. My neighbors tree is setting pods right now and I think I'm gonna take a few.

    Hi there! Very nice follow-up to your seeds video, hoping to see some of your sprouts 🌞 can you add to the video how you water them right after placing them into the soil mix? I have a beautiful cypress, just like yours with a serious multitude of cones/split cones that has produced a few sprouts on its own over the years, one of which was successfully transplanted yay and I would love to save and contribute as many cones/seeds back into nature as I can but I am afraid of initially over watering them so I have never saved the seeds. Thank you!

    Great video working to get them to grow power company took a lot down.

      Sad, The problem is people planting big trees close to power lines in the first place, It inevitable that they are going to get pruned or cut down eventually.

    Great video. I just gathered a bunch of seeds from a Kashmere Cypress, which I think is the prettiest tree in the world, looks like a weeping willow but it is a Cypress. I think I will do what you are doing. I can see no need for all the extra stuff people do, because in nature, they are just naturally sewn, no alcohol, no refrigerator. I think if you just put them in a jar and left them outside in a safe place, they would react like they would if on the ground in winter. I have a shed outside where I will store them and plant in spring. Enjoyed the video, thanks for the information.

    How long does it usually take for a bald cypress to produce cones? I planted one in May of 2018 so its heading into its 4th full growing season and nothing yet. Its growing very well, I planted at about 4' tall and it has to be every bit of 11' today.
    I love these trees, my neighbor likes to joke that I take better care of that tree than I do myself. Sadly, she's right.

    I love bald cypress too. Ours is planted in a dry spot and it is thriving 😅 it isnt very finicky. The seeds dont willingly germinate though since it is dry I believe. One has and i dug it and have it in a pot. Ive had it in a pot for about 5 years now. I have tried germinating some seeds and had no luck. How did this go for you?

    • @blakespower
      @blakespower 15 днів тому

      I planted 34 of them from trees I collected seeds from in Annapolis in a small lot that has like 5 or 6 of them none of them have produced knees I planted them back in 2006 next to a muddy sandy stream. I was looking forward to seeing the knees but none developed, maybe the tree species I got the seeds from was a kneeless variety maybe the stream I planted them by prevents them from growing knees it turns into a raging small river during heavy rain

    Bald Cypress is the easiest tree to germinate and survive of all the trees I tried, I only tried Chestnut and Beech Giant sequoia, and Oak they always died of mold or the leaves turn black and die

      I'm taking a crack at air layering an 8' I grew from a sapling the size of a pencil. I want so badly to get the top for a tree as well as the nice flared base. Love this species, I've heard negative results with cuttings and air layers though so I'm learning up on seed germination for spring '24. Thanks for the video
