I just picked the seeds from my neighbors tree. I am going to go through the stratification process and hope to propagate them in the greenhouse. Just love the look of this tree.
Great! I am collecting seeds now in hopes of a good crop in the spring. Please let me know how your seedlings progress! Thanks for your viewing support!
I've tried the last 2 years to grow these from seed and failed. Ill be trying this this year. Can I store the seeds until spring and then let them soak? I live in the snow belt im not shore if that matters.
It's weird- this year I only had five seeds sprout. I would suggest that if you have access to bald cypress I'd collect fresh this fall. If you don't have access I'd be willing to mail some to you! Sorry it took so long to reply!
My experience with other seeds is they need stratification. If you have a few place them in a ziploc or seed tray with wet moss. They must experience cold temps for 60-90 days. I use a refrigerator to maintain the temps. My success rates are 75% or better.
One of my favourite Trees! Thanks for sharing. 👍
I was out today collecting more bald cypress seed. I hope to add to the collection! Thanks for watching!

Good luck. Get lots of seeds. I have grown them 2 years and only get about 20% germination
Good stuff! Love the cones on these. Thanks for sharing!
I didn't have the best luck this year sprouting BC. I'll give it another run next spring. .....
Thanks for the information
You're welcome! Thank you for watching! I am excited to know that spring is just about here!

@@phielo3941 I'm familiar with stratification. I don't think the tree by my house is fertile.
Get lots of seeds. I have grown them 2 years and have 10 trees. Probably started with 50 seeds
Have you heard of a dwarf bald cypress variety called Peve Minaret?Check it out it's pretty striking of a specimen.
I have not heard of it- I need to talk with my nurseryman next week, I'll ask him about it! Thanks!
soak up to 60 days !! wow
Apparently it takes time to soften the seed coat. I am going to experiment this time line more this spring. I collected a bunch of seeds today!
