Thank you for this great video! I tried growing bald cypress this spring but it was a major fail, only had two germinate. I learned the keys are to plant a lot (they have a low germination rate) and to keep them moist just as you did here. I'll be trying again next year using a strategy similar to yours.
collected a ton of these seeds and they are looking just like yours so I cant wait to see if they germinate in the spring. I don't know if the success rate will be any different here in England. To be truthful I would consider ANY as a fantastic result! Thanks.
@andrewclack4881 good luck. The key for me was keeping them very moist and warm in the spring when they started sprouting. They grew to about 3 ft tall this year
Awesome video and awesome success some of the best I’ve seen. I’m curious as to how you ended up repotting them, did you thin them out or just separate them?
I had an insane amount of luck with Southern Magnolia germination, 99% germination rate, by stratification in moist peat in zip locks in the fridge over winter. 2-3 months. Have you tried placing these in peat as opposed to dry in mason jar? Curious as last year my success on the mags got me excited and now I’m trying Bald Cypress, among many others in similar fashion
@20twenty_sti40 this was the only time I have ever tried bald cypress. I have not tried magnolia but I will now. Thanks for the tip. I will post a short follow up on their growth soon.
Thank you for sharing.
Just harvested the cones from my tree and will plant them in the spring.

@@Whomadegod thanks for watching. I will have to post an update. I separate them into gallon pots and put some i to group plantings.
