I think Gin blossoms are one of the most underrated 90s alternative acts.
Not underrated. They were and are very much appreciated. They were one of the most played and popular groups of that time.
Toad the wet sprocket was one of the most underrated bands back then
I think that Gin Blossoms was the band that defined the 90's alternative sound like no other!
Millions of views on most of their videos here is NOT underrated lol
Share your favorite and let's breathe life back into them@@garyshaw6550
Who's Still Listening to this BANGER IN 2024 🎸
IMO the Gin Blossoms was one of the greatest bands of the 90's.
Why can't we just go back to the 90s and live there forever?
the 90's were exceptional
but I want to go back to 1969 and stay there
If time travel ever becomes a thing I'm going back to the 90s.
How did you read my mind?
Someone build a time machine, let's go
I know the feeling I loved the 90s makes me sad its over 😞 😢 all we have is memories I loved my youth where has time gone
This is truly an amazing band that captured the 90's vibe so naturally but didn't seem to get the recognition they deserved 🎶🤘🎶
They got recognized. By people who know good music. Good rock music, anyhow. These guys are so good live. I wish Doug Hopkins had not self destructed. There were alot more great songs and hits in there somewhere. Alas, it wasnt to be. The post Hopkins Blossoms still are good but they coulda been even more. RIP brother
They lost the drummer due to alcoholism issues I read ...they had a short but great run this album is easily one of the best of the 90s
It cannot be overlooked ❤
@@atravelerofbothtimespace4172 It was Doug Hopkins and he played the guitar and wrote a lot of the early hits. Hey Jealousy. Follow You Down. Allison Road. He was an alcoholic, But it went deeper than that. As it almost always does.......
@@ShawnConrad-tw8duthanks .a great hard hitting Rock n roll drummer
@@ShawnConrad-tw8du they also came out of AZ which was a harder launch then. I remember seeing them on Mill Ave when barely a man.
Kids, if you're listening live the life you have to the fullest. One day in ten or twenty years you'll be on UA-cam reminiscing on how great it was.
Touché. If I could go back to anytime it would be the 90’s. So many great memories. 💜
So true. Wish kids wouldn't rush growing up. I miss it

I spent to many years thinking about what could have been all it got me was useless psych meds and therapists. The only cure is creating new memories so you don't dwell on the old memories. But it gets harder as I get older. When your younger everything is easier.
I feel the exact same way and have been through the exact same things.@@dwaynedeyoung7519

Well said , everybody . 😢❤
Gin blossoms and toad the wet sprocket, great bands
Still touring together too!!
I really liked the bands tonic and matchbox 20 to
One of the best debut albums of the 90's
@@kayp4601
It's their major label debut.
berreta ppk
Still kicks my ass when I listen to this tune .. The dude had an innate ability to write terrific songs but trouble dealing with life's circumstances .. Damn He left us too soon but his writing on this debut was his testimony on his pain..
Snapshot in time because they lost the creative heart of their band to substance abuse. Real tragedy.
All of new miserable experience was amazing such an excellent album
Had I known how fast life would pass me by, I would have made the 80’s and 90’s slow down to a crawl. Bands like Gin Blossoms, Toad the Wet Sprocket, etc made those years something special. Now I look back and see thirty plus years have come and gone and the memories are beginning to fade away. If only I could go back in time...I promise I would enjoy the years past more than I did. I took them for granted.

Couldnt of said it better…it takes my breath away everytime i think of my younger years…im only 43 but the older you get the faster the days go by..
Just saw toad & gin blossoms live lastnight. They’re just as amazing as ever! They’re touring together right now with bare naked ladies
Agreed. I was in such a hurry to grow up now I wanna go back and slow it all down. 😢

New Miserable Experience, one of the BEST albums of the 90's.
Gin Blossoms are the most underrated band of the 90s. I know they had a few billboard hits but they don’t quite get the classic rock attention they deserved.
Yes they are underated.
Underrated? They had a bunch of hits all in a row.
Richard That doesn’t mean they’re not underrated. They’re not respected the same way as many of their pop contemporaries. I mean, fucking Creed had a bunch of hits but that doesn’t mean I respect them.
1000% agree with you I still love these guys
@@jjmah7 Creed is a awesome band and don't deserve the hate.
One of the best bands to come out of the 90's.
Decent... But not one of the best
U are wrong one of the best no doubt about that that's for true
I was born in 1976 and at present I am 47 years old. This song came out when I was battling my teachers in junior high(😂😂😂😂)
Grunge was the mainstream music and dominated the charts. I always have had love for Gin Blossoms because I found their music so relaxing. Personally, I considered them the best band between the angst and rage of Nirvana and the psychedelic grunge of Stone Temple Pilots. Gin Blossoms were our inspiration when I and my friends created our band. The 90's music was definitely the best that happened to this world.
My heroes were all gone now and I remember them always in my heart.
Andrew Wood-Mother love Bone
Kurt Cobain-Nirvana
Shannon Hoon-Blind Melon
Chris Cornell-Soundgarden
Scott Weiland-Stone Temple Pilots
Layne Staley-Alice in Chains
Doug Hopkins-Gin Blossoms
Bradley James Nowell-Sublime
Dolores O'Riordan-Cranberries
Thank you for the music. Rest in Peace!
This song is so underrated. I don't understand why the other songs are more popular than this?
I am from the 60’s, but loved this group first time I heard them. Under rated vocals and band!
Me as well 71 and still listen to these tunes .. A tortured soul wrote all these great songs on the record .. If only...

The Gin Blossoms were such an amazing 90’s band, thank you for being part of adolescent life, 🥰🙏❤

The best Gin Blossoms track!
Awesome song
Thank you for adding the lyrics!!
Thanks for lyrics!
The beauty of the 90's. I just missed that era.
One of the best Gin Blossoms song!
Not one of the best. The best.
One of my favorite power ballads
"My fear, pretend, that I'll never be in love again is real to me"
Relatable
I wish I had been older in the 90s, I missed all these bands.
The 1988-1998 was the best decade in music in my opinion... no make up, no bullshit, just great music you can chill to.
I just lost my father. He got me into Gin Blossoms back in the 90s. I cant stop listening to this song.
condolences I'm sorry about your Dad
Hang in there buddy, it's a pain that dulls but never ceases.
Hey internet friend! I lost mine about 16 months ago. He got me into the Gin Blossoms as well (and other goodies like Styx etc!). I usually play a few Gin Blossoms songs on my drumset every night in remembrance. Hope you're doing alright, it gets easier over time, especially when you stay connected through music and other hobbies.
My favorite Gin Blossoms song. Love the song and album. Miss the Gin Blossoms and 90's alternative and grunge.
My favorite too

They still speak to my soul in 2021❤️
Do they speak to you during a séance? How else do they do it? Or are they speaking to your "soul" way too much?
reminds me of a better time
I hear you
this.
So simple then
This time period was more like a joyful melancholia. This song is good example of that - it has an uplifting groove, but an underlying sadness.
Sure does. Most 90's songs do that for me.
The entire album holds up over two decades later. So much popular music doesn't age well. I prefer to let time be the ultimate judge of whether something is good...or not. It doesn't mean you can't enjoy all the guilty pleasures of your youth. Enjoy them now, because no one will listening to them after you're dead.
That...is sooo deep.
Time is the test...........
Couldn't agree more, and I mostly hate '90s crap rock. I still have Gin Blossoms on cassette and bought it on CD to listen in the car after a while. Can't listen to most of the shit I liked back then, but this really does hold up.
I wish my friends were more like you.
Saw they're coming to Houston soon and was just telling my wife something similar this morning. This is one of the few albums and bands i still give a listen to after all these years and the music's just as good now as when it was first on the radio
Takes me back to the time when my pain was more comfortable - still listening 2020
Um please elaborate lil bit more Vanessa Peterson. Lol
In My Prayers.
Love you vanessa
You are not the only one!!! Still listening 2020 and totally enjoying it!!! And singing out loud!!!
Praying for you
We all need to get together and listen to Gin Blossoms and come together in unity regardless or religious or political differences and be one and enjoy music. I’m talking as a country, we need something that bring us together during crazy times.
One of those songs that will stay with me forever.
My love lasts forever
“It’s loose now but we could try”....grabs me every time. Had this album and wore it out. Love the Gin Blossoms and love the 90s. There was/is never better music, never a better decade.
It's a great set of lyrics. I was in a band then, and suddenly responsible for writing lyrics when we lost the guy who did. This song made me rethink my approach to it.
it almost melts like butter,,,
" The music that touches you in your youth is magnified as you get older. Each record can be a virtual time machine, all you need is a second or two and you go back to the place and time when you first heard it. it's a brliiant feeling when music touches you profoundly and stays with you through time" Rob Halford
Thank goodness for UA-cam aka "time machine", we can listen to this whenever we want! Classics like this will never die!
I loved 90s music so much but in hindsight I didn't realize how great of an era it was going to be and the epic slice in time it made. love that decade.
+Lorelai Nokomis it is such a special time that I'm so glad I grew up in that decade. glad to have someone who feels the same. rock on

This song represents everything that was good about the 90s
The economy having a surplus
@R TTT
Lets see, the Cold War was officially over by the time this song came out. The first Gulf War was over with. NAFTA had not been signed on by President Clinton. Hell, we had not even suffered our defeat in Somalia by the time this song came out! Yeah, a Democrat in the White House is not the major factor, but the circumstances of their Presidency. Furthermore, Democrats in the 1990s were more conservative, were PRO-secure U.S. borders and Pro-immigration enforcement, unlike now!
Also, President Obama, a Democrat, didn't help our country much when he was President! I am just trying to put your comment into the proper context!
@@rockineighties
Not wanting to ruin a good song with political bullshit, but Obama did a lot of good things - he saved the economy after Bush and Cheney's illegal war had the country on the verge of a second Great Depression; he bailed out the America auto industry; he took out Osama bin Laden; he brought our troops back from Iraq and Afghanistan, he introduced affordable healthcare, and more.
@@hinjurock I know I’m a year late but I agree. I didn’t like a lot of things Obama did, but it was mainly because he had to kowtow to the Republicans in order to get anything done. Democrats are always having to come in and clean up the mess that Republicans leave in their wake. And here we are again with Biden cleaning up after we fired the worst of the worst
Yes very true! I was a child of the 80's. Big fan of 80s music though. Love this song! My favorite is "Found Out About You"
beautiful man voice...the perfect balance
You know, back in the day I derided them as a REM knockoff. But the older I get, the melancholy becomes more understandable.
A timeless song and a very good one at that.
This brings a sadness to my heart. I mourn for the days when life was simple and music was still good like this. :'(

Me too I miss my growing up times of the 60-s and 70's. Much simpler and happier. Now it seems this day and age is filled with little quality of life.
The song that kept me from spiralling down into depression...
I still listen to it - I still play it on my guitar...

One of my favorite songs ever, something about it, sincere, a song with a torn soul, a song that feels like home..
the intro to this always fucks me up. I know it doesnt come in on one, and it comes in on an upbeat.
Same... I still can't hear the rhythm until a few seconds in
Every deng time!
Remember waking up early one morning in the early 90's, back when I was a kid and this was playing on the radio. I remember thinking I will never forget this song as long as I live. It permanently connected me to that day so long ago. Now it's nearly 30 years later.
I LOVE when that happens. It shows how powerful the connection between our dreaming/unconscious mind and our waking/conscious mind are when they work together and communicate.
Bring back the 90s!
I've said this before about many songs but this truly is a beautiful work of art . Just stunning , Amazing that a song could be so beautiful .
If Art is how you decorate space, Music must be how you decorate Time.
Wow, that was deep Mike. Nicely said.
thats beauty,,,
I love how the guitar solo begins as Robins is trailing off, Nice effects
One of my favorites by Gin Blossoms. 🙂
How music is supposed to be composed with real vocals and real instruments. They were by far one of my favorite groups to listen to in the 90s and it's a pleasure to see that they still perform to this day. Although they have been through a few lead singers they are still the Gin Blossoms that we all know and love today!
They’ve had the same lead singer since the beginning.
The 90's nostalgia never gets old!
The first song I heard from these guys ; I was instantly hooked by them ! ❤
Please know if you feel this song very deeply, there is always hope. I felt this song so much in my youth & didn’t know how or where life would take me. I’m still figuring things out but have been going through my long-awaited healing process. It’s rough and it sucks sometimes but there is so much more freedom where I’m standing now & wisdom I’ve gleaned from all this. I pray the same for you & only better things. 🙏🏽💜
Nostalgic 90s , the kind of song that plays at the end of Beverly hills 90210, party of five, when the season is about to end or the characters have life altering epiphanies , I miss alternative bands that actually song with emotion and really touched the soul , Love this song forever, Gin Blossoms thank you , real music never falls away

Omg had the cassette and cd! It lovingly brings me back to junior high! ❤️😊
I wish I could build an island called "the 90's", where everything was the same as back then. The moment you step in, you forget all the pain of the current world and are just in bliss. Back then, the world seemed to have less hate, more optimism, family values, and better music. 😢.
To all those who say that "they want to return to the 90's" they must understand that every moment in life is unique, and we must live it as if it were the last. This band brings me great memories of my childhood. Greetings from Argentina
New Miserable Experience is one of the best and most underrated records ever. Every song on here is great! Very talented writers and musicians. Doug Hopkins another tragic soul. And yes, I know he didn't write this particular song. Wilson and Valenzuela did, but Hopkins was the reason they got a record contract in the first place. The record company (AM) liked Hopkins songs the best.
Agreeing!
yeah, let's hear it for doug hopkins especially..
Sign me up for the one-way trip back to the 90's too. Just drop me off with the shirt on my back and I'll do just fine, thank you.
Everything since around '96 or so has NOT been awesome. I'd give anything to wake-up and for it to be 1992 again, but forever this time. Two years before we lost our hero.
I just want to ride the crest of that seattle sound-wave forever.
And you still do.
Gin Blossoms and Black Crows. NOTHING compares today. “Babies black balloon makes her fly.” I was in Seattle. My heart hurts from the loss.
Goo Goo Dolls!
I was saying just the other night, "It all shoulda stopped at the 90s" and I was so happy when I heard someone yell "AMEN!!"
The guitar solo wraps this beauty in a lovely bow.
What was it - 1994? ...this song meant *so* much to me...I always knew she would die before me...I always knew I would be stuck here with all these memories...driving down the road and blasting this song...so young and so much life still ahead of me...now there's just so much sorrow...too much sorrow 😞
Love persists, though.

so nostalgic. i remember exactly where i was and what i was doing during these times.l growing up in small town..not much to do but listen to radio and talk about what we were going to be when we grew up. there were three of us and it's so interesting how life turned out. i wouldnt trade it for the world.
The best song on a practically perfect album. Such incredible, poetically-layered lyrics. As a graduate of ASU in the late '80's, I remember the gin mills and rainfall. Every word speaks to me. RIP.
i don't know how many people here in the uk have this album, but i know i've bought it twice. i got the 2cd version a few years back as well. it is as you say pretty much a perfect album. not at all keen on the country track at the end, always edit that one out. gin blossoms, i wish you had done more music, i suppose it had a lot to do with the passing of the main man doug hopkins
Kim…Were you at 'their final Tempe concert (Gibson's)', before going off to 'Make it big'? :) Good Times!

Great tune, sure brings back all those memories. Plus the musicianship on this song is amazing, truly. Those are real key changes and transitions, something that just isn't heard anymore.
good thing i was in high school(91-95) when the entire alternative movement was in full bloom. this was one of the best songs in the soundtrack that was my crazy youth. gen x!
Same here. Class of 95. All the way up too 2001 was like living a dream. It all changed that fateful day. Lost all my youthful innocence and have been just working and living essentially watching the country change completely around me with a sense of profound sadness and melancholy. I would give anything to do it all over again and somehow stay in those times forever.
