@@californiaswater5571 nah, not to much. Much worse things are afoot these days. Nothing like a friggin Pandemic to make a person miss the simplicity of the 90s. Yesterday, 57 people died in my state from Covid. The infection rates are skyrocketing while medical professionals everywhere are begging Americans to take this shit seriously. My wife's a pastor, and on Saturday she's doing her third funeral since October 15. This upcoming one's for a 26yo nurse who'd been in the ICU, on a ventilator for 37 days! Young people ARE dying too. There's no rhyme or reason for why some of these young folks get affected worse than others. I'm an emt-paramedic on furlough because I've got diabetes and and I'm recovering from treatment for malignant melanoma which may have zapped my immune system. A friend of mine from high school died last month from a sudden Covid related blood clot. The day before she died she ran over 20 miles on her lunch break. She was a competitive runner and rock climber who was in the best shape of anyone I ever knew. She was second in her graduating class at MIT, and was a stellar photographer! She was so kind and caring about other people. She was careful about Covid and always wore a mask. Doesn't help much if people around her weren't wearing theirs however. I hope a vaccine comes out soon. I'd like to be able to work again. I don't know why I'm saying all this to the ether. Hadn't heard this band in awhile and wanted to think back to simpler times of dating and partying and running around without worrying so much. The govt back then sure was corrupt, but it was a much simpler corruption. People embezzled millions, not BILLIONS. Who knows, maybe we'll have universal healthcare, and solve the climate crisis by this time next year! Maybe there'll be a cure for cancer developed too. One that doesn't make you wretch you guts out for days on end. Def not the best way to lose weight, but I'll take it. I'I'd take a lot of things over the current situation! Oh well...

I had a high fever like the flu bodyaches and pains and mental confusion loss of sense of smell and of course extreme depression which I am still struggling with along with the odd symptom that everything taste like metal. It is so astounding to me that some people think it’s a hoax, what fools. A quarter million people dead in our country and our president that I hold responsible as if he were a murderer. And unfortunately our citizenry is so stupid as to not listen to doctors and to think wearing masks is an option. This song feels like heartache but it's so beautiful at the same time, one of my favorites... "and again we meet in the spaces in between... you always say there's something wrong."
[Verse 1] Another day, I call and never speak And you would say nothing's changed at all And I can't feel much hope for anything If I won't be there to catch you if you fall Again (We fail) It seems we meet (To meet and mend) In the spaces (Spaces safe) In between (Between intents) We always say (Say too much) It won't be long (Long been gone) Oh, but something's always wrong [ Another game of putting things aside As if we'll come back to them some time A brace of hopes, a pride of innocents And you would say something has gone wrong Again (We fail) It seems we meet (To make amends) In the spaces (And wend our way) In between (Between intent) We always say (Looking back) It won't be long (Not moving on) Oh, but something's always wrong
Politics were very much on the minds of many, but we thought we really were living in a better world, and that we could and would make more changes for the better. We thought that this was a country by and for the people, all people. Now we know otherwise and it is brutal.
Vacations are nice - visiting a beautiful place - but I wish we could visit a special time. Songs and the memories they bring back are the closest we have. I can remember this song - my Dad was still alive, and we were still a family.
"...And I can't feel much hope for anything If I won't be there to catch you if you fall..." That line right there sums the whole song up. To love someone that you can't have... Edit: this line has evolved for me. It’s not about someone you can’t have, it’s about someone who won’t accept the love you are willing to give. After a long relationship came apart, this line sums up how I felt when I realized that nothing I did would make any difference...
I feel you on that. My love is one of the best anyone can ever hope for or need, yet seems I couldn't give it away to this one particular person for over a decade despite relentlessly trying, on and off, over and over again. They simply did not want my love, and I thought something was wrong with me all those years, when there absolutely wasn't. They had the problem, and I now know it's because my love was too good for them, and they knew they weren't deserving of it. I took it as rejection at the time, when really it was their own guilt of accepting something they knew they didn't deserve. They never reciprocated it, and never appreciated my awesomeness. What was wrong with me, for allowing and accepting that rejection for so long??? Live and learn, I suppose. So, yeah I know exactly what you mean.
I should have and will add that you could still find good music but not in any commercial vien.It is unfair of me to be too general !! All I know is DISCO SUCKS !!!
While being just a bit younger than you (58) I completely understand and agree 100%. Mid 60's to the mid 70's was the best. We were witness to the music "Revolution". And you could FEEL how special a time it was. It was all so fresh and creative and it was available to us at the flip of the switch on our radio's and in great abundance. We didn't have to "Seek" it out. Then came the 80's......oh my. Disco.....ugh and big hair bands. Everything sounded the same. The 90's brought back creativity and it was "Oh SO welcome". While there are always good bands out there, it will never be the same. And we now see the adults who grew up during the 90's saying the same thing. They are now seeing what we saw back in the day as they experienced the unique creative music our generation were privy to and the great appreciation for such. Apologies for the lengthy reply. I have no self edit button :-)
That's because for the most part singers were also songwriters. Now everything is bought and paid for. You don't even have to even sing good anymore. Stupid auto tune *eye rolls*
Covered this tune for years, people still love this band. You can play several other hits before this and just get an average reaction but we pull out the Toad and its here hold my beer! and they hit the dance floor. Which is funny because I never considered it as a dance tune, but then again I've had people dance to Paranoid so what do I know?
Geez, do I miss the days of strolling down to the local used CD shop (where I got my first Toad CDs in the early '90s). Scratched yet functional, still have "Bread & Circus", "Pale" and "Dulcinea" to this day!!
The video is more true today than ever. How many of us look for all of those things now... we are always searching for the next best thing, or quick satisfaction, and we probly have people and things in our lives already that provide us with enough love but we don’t see it or choose to ignore it. I broke up with somebody thinking it was wrong to be with them, and now I feel like it is so wrong and empty to be without them
yeah... i'm actually very curious about today's music scene... i mean, there MUST be exceptional talent out there somewhere today, making stuff comparable to things of the past... right? i don't hear a thing on the radio or mentioned by pop circles that i've liked beyond a, "eh, whatever" party music type regard. the last time i pulled over in my car cuz i heard something that blew me away was Stadium Arcadum songs by Chili Peppers, FOREVER AGO... this is the last thing i really liked.
I love Toad the Wet Sprocket!!!!! I have been listening to them for at least 25 years now! Still I love them !!! I don't know where my CD collection is!!!!!! I have always been a huge fan!!

I don't hear these guys anymore... I mean they don't even get put on the grocery store loops or anything. Last week I heard DEVO at the grocery store...why not these guys?
I'm not sure what's wrong with me, this song keeps running through my head, day after day, probably for about 6 months now, literally 3 or 4 times a day, I start singing it in my head. Like a cigarette craving, when I'm stressed, I start singing it, sometimes accidentally out loud..am I crazy??
It really seems that after about the mid nineties, music quality really trailed off, there is no joy or hope in alot of what passes for " music".These days. Even though the title of this song " something s always wrong" seems to send a sort of negative message, there is still a positive energy from it.great all around sound these guys had,. Rz1053
This song is what open my eyes to Toad the Wet Sprocket. This song came out in a time of my life when I just got through a nasty divorce I gain joint custody of my four-year-old son. Then the company I worked for folded. I now had to find a new job. I landed a new job aproximally 100 miles round trip every day but at least I was working. My commute caring for my young son and trying to relocate closer to work were talking its toll on me. Sitting at a red light in Northern Virginia this song came on the radio. It was depressing but I loved it.
I use to work for Drum Workshop back in 2000 and the drummer came in for a tour to see us building the drums. I use installing the drum hoops inside the shells at the time and all the saws were going off and i could not understand what he was saying over the noise. I still to this day wonder what that little guy was asking me. I just nodded. Great times great band.
My brother turned me onto Toad years ago and I have not looked back. So many great songs. All their albums have at least two-three standout songs with two albums being perfect (in my opinion). Dulcinea and Fear being those two albums.
Wow. ❤❤❤I love it. Their harmonization is so on point. They just make me happy when I listen to them. It's the good stuff and that's all... the good stuff.
Listening to this, makes me cry. I’m sad, and feeling really nostalgic for the 90s, but I couldn’t go back, knowing what I know now, because I’d miss my son, Vincent, and my fiancé, Ian, too much. Waiting for Vincent to be born, and then waiting to meet Ian, would be torturous.

Oh well...
@@jonathanbecker8935 what a story Jonathan. I am actually a survivor of Covid 19th. I caught it on the Fourth of July ironically enough, and had a myriad of symptoms but fortunately no respiratory problems whatsoever. I haven’t worked since March as I work and live concerts and it’s like I may not be working again quite some time. The photo is my mother, not me. Anyhow I wish you the best and thanks for sharing your story and I truly hope you get well and we all get through this together.
MEMORIES!!!
All of the fuckin wonderful memories came rushing back in a major way!!
Gott damn I loved the 90’s.
What a magical time.
I didn’t realize it then but I damn sure realize it now.
I Agree I miss the 90s too☺
You are 100% true there. I sure wish I could go back to relive those times. I would definitely appreciate them more. But at least I did get to live through that wonderful era 🙂
25 years with you. Now I'm die because of blood cancer.
Thank you for being in my life all the time. God bless you.
Lost a daughter from cancer at 31 4 years ago. I myself have flatlined twice before and seen the other side. It's actually there so my friend when your time comes, please be at peace let go and don't be afraid, for the Angels will be there and guide you home.Godspeed to you with nothing but pure love.
This has to be one of my favourites. Such a beautifully haunting melody. Just can't get enough of it . Wonderful.
This band ! Way underrated! Love Glen and his intelligent lyrics. Oh, the nostalgia ❤️
Great chill music, especially in a Virginia Beach bar in the 90s.
This song feels like heartache but it's so beautiful at the same time, one of my favorites... "and again we meet in the spaces in between... you always say there's something wrong."
[Verse 1]
Another day, I call and never speak
And you would say nothing's changed at all
And I can't feel much hope for anything
If I won't be there to catch you if you fall
Again (We fail)
It seems we meet (To meet and mend)
In the spaces (Spaces safe)
In between (Between intents)
We always say (Say too much)
It won't be long (Long been gone)
Oh, but something's always wrong
[
Another game of putting things aside
As if we'll come back to them some time
A brace of hopes, a pride of innocents
And you would say something has gone wrong
Again (We fail)
It seems we meet (To make amends)
In the spaces (And wend our way)
In between (Between intent)
We always say (Looking back)
It won't be long (Not moving on)
Oh, but something's always wrong
Wow. Powerful lyrics. Thanks man.
Thx
My favourite song by TWS. Glenn's vocals are no joke & Randy is simply a kickass drummer.
This is their best song. Not sure why it didn't get more air play. Love the baseline, drums and Guitar. Her voice is perfect too.
Glenn Phillips is not a her..
@@chas.5009 Indeed.
MTV didn’t like the music video for obvious reasons, so this song didn’t gain as much traction
Just heard this song for the first time in about twenty years! Brought a huge smile and some tears. I had forgotten how much I love the drums!
Are you MY Tommy Toes?
I’m sorry I am not your Tommy Toes, Bonnie:(
Totally awesome song
A totally awesome song a year later!
I Agree☺☺
*toadally🐸
*insert drum roll*
Yes, yes it is.
Goddamn, this song is old enough to drink. It was just yesterday. Excellence is timeless, and so is musical marrow.
Im going to a concert of them tonight. The 90s kid in me is so happy.
Awesome you got this concert in before Corona. Red Rocks will be awfully quiet this Summer.
gilbertobm let me know how it is and what about social distancing?
@@patriciarussell1177 the concert was back in February. Waaay before this whole madness. It was great.
They put on a great show! I was a stagehand in the 90s.
I saw them at House of Blues in Houston back in November ‘17. They sounded just as great as they did in the 90’s.
Back when we got all this on MTV. Way better listening to it at my age now. 😥😢😪
When music ruled and politics where not on our mind !! I wish we could rewind
Politics were very much on the minds of many, but we thought we really were living in a better world, and that we could and would make more changes for the better. We thought that this was a country by and for the people, all people. Now we know otherwise and it is brutal.
this music video is essentially a time machine to the 90’s
Love the chord progression. Definitely highlights the beauty of 90s acoustic guitar-heavy era.
Right! And that nice long instrumental at the end is magic. This song gets cranked every time it comes on my Pandora station :)
Vacations are nice - visiting a beautiful place - but I wish we could visit a special time. Songs and the memories they bring back are the closest we have. I can remember this song - my Dad was still alive, and we were still a family.
"Something's Always Wrong" celebrate its 30th year anniversary in a couple days. Truly a classic from a golden era and decade!
Whoa! This group is freaking great! Always so good. Yet they didn’t get near the credit they so richly deserved.
"...And I can't feel much hope for anything
If I won't be there to catch you if you fall..."
That line right there sums the whole song up. To love someone that you can't have...
Edit: this line has evolved for me. It’s not about someone you can’t have, it’s about someone who won’t accept the love you are willing to give. After a long relationship came apart, this line sums up how I felt when I realized that nothing I did would make any difference...
I think your evolved understanding is spot on.
I am old 66, for me music started in 1964 died in 1975 with the birth of disco and was reborn again by bands like this !!
You underappreciated the 80s
You are right John. I still love this song today.
Heard this in Walgreens. . Takes me back and makes me cry
It's always at a CVS or Walgreens you're reminded of these gems :)
Apparently I need to spend more time at Walgreens
@@Laststepp If your lucky someday that's where you'll spend A LOT of time.
I could listen to this non-stop! Wait, I have been, since the 90’s 😎. I just love that 🥁
Such a romantic and melancholy sound to this song. I've loved it since its release.
Probably the most original song I've ever heard.
I was 18 back then Class of 1994!! I miss seeing this on MTV and VH1 when they still played music videos sometimes!!
Such a great song. My favorite by Toad. Such an underrated band and song. One of my all time favorites.
One of my all time favs. If only we knew the 90s would be the last best decade 😢 #takemeback
Heard this as teen when nothing was wrong. Can relate to it everyday now as a( so called) adult.
If none of their other songs strike you, this one should. This is a personal favorite of mine.
seems like all their songs strike me, just beautiful music and great voice
Great tune. Love the way they layer their harmonies/ vocals.
Reading this comment section has restored my hope. This is my tribe.
Covered this tune for years, people still love this band. You can play several other hits before this and just get an average reaction but we pull out the Toad and its here hold my beer! and they hit the dance floor. Which is funny because I never considered it as a dance tune, but then again I've had people dance to Paranoid so what do I know?
I see it as a great dance tune.
It’s a great human spiritual song. Those who cover it are always presenting their audience with a glorious treat.
I love this song so much, it speaks to my heart and soul.
I broke up with somebody thinking it was wrong to be with them, and now I feel like it is so wrong and empty to be without them
I never thought Bizarro Quinn would get so deep...
Underated Band
definately
In the 90s there were a 100 bands just like them...
+SmithCommaBenjamin name them
Bad name !!! great singer
@@melisarodriguez6783 there is a story behind that name....
Loved this song since '94. Whenever I get the Big Sad I put this on and I don't feel so alone. Thanks guys.
I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW YOU CAN BE THAT TALANTED AND GO UNNOTICED THEY WERE AWESOME.
yeah... i'm actually very curious about today's music scene... i mean, there MUST be exceptional talent out there somewhere today, making stuff comparable to things of the past... right?
i don't hear a thing on the radio or mentioned by pop circles that i've liked beyond a, "eh, whatever" party music type regard. the last time i pulled over in my car cuz i heard something that blew me away was Stadium Arcadum songs by Chili Peppers, FOREVER AGO... this is the last thing i really liked.
Actually they were not unnoticed we noticed and all the people commented here noticed their songs were hits on the radio
Agreed 🤝
I love Toad the Wet Sprocket!!!!! I have been listening to them for at least 25 years now! Still I love them !!! I don't know where my CD collection is!!!!!! I have always been a huge fan!!
What an amazing composition ... Every note, every instrument
You want some good 90s music to just chill to? Listen to Toad and Gin Blossom songs. Gin is right there with Toad and good. soft rock 90s melodies. Both bands had great hits during the 90s
This is one of my favorite songs and I also think it's one of the prettiest songs ever made.
Heard this awesome tune in Sam's Club this morning...where has this tune been in my listens?
I don't hear these guys anymore... I mean they don't even get put on the grocery store loops or anything. Last week I heard DEVO at the grocery store...why not these guys?
Still one of the best sounding bands ever. Damn the 90's were cool
one of the best bands of the 90s for sure
one of the coolest songs ever
yup

Yes it is
are you in my phone too
are you in my phone tooz
such a beautiful time the early nineties was..✌🏻🇺🇸
Es mi rola favorita de Toad the Wet Sprocket. Es increible que ya tiene 30 años y es atemporal. Buenos recuerdos
Rz1053
Go check yourself dude
1 or 2 times a day is fine, but 3-4 is just pure insanity
you are certifiably crazy....but do not blame it on this song
Its a FABULOUS song... nothing wrong with that💕💕
This song is what open my eyes to Toad the Wet Sprocket.
One of my all time favorite songs. Never get tired of listening to the harmonization in this classic tune...
Still rocking this in 2021!!! Damn I wish I could go back to the 90s!!!
A brace of hope, a pride of innocence.
Always loved this song.
My favorite Toad song love the harmony and acoustic sound. Rock On!
At 42 years old, it wasn't until a few years ago when I could empathize with the songs meaning and now every time I hear it it breaks my heart.
This video does not hold a candle to the magnitude of this beautiful song
My brother turned me onto Toad years ago and I have not looked back. So many great songs. All their albums have at least two-three standout songs with two albums being perfect (in my opinion). Dulcinea and Fear being those two albums.
Melancholy pop but weirdly uplifting too, like cathartic even. My favorite track of theirs and they have numerous classics.
Can’t tell if it’s this song or Walk on the Ocean hits me in the feels harder. These guys knew how it felt to live in emotions
Aw, what a sweet message!
P.S. Cute picture, by the way!
I worked in Dallas for 35 years. Commuted 150 miles and listed to the radio a lot. This was a favorite.
