As a teenager back then I remember coming home from goofing off and finding my Dad at his stereo with my Collective Soul tape in it looking for this song. He looked at me with a BIG smile and said, "Find that, YEAH, song you listen too for me ". It is a memory I will remember forever!! Thanks Collective Soul for that!! I MISS and LOVE YOU DAD!!! Every Day!!!
You will meet again, friend. Someday, in Heaven.
I'm actually listening to this in memory of my dad as well. He passed on 5/9/24. I remember at 5-7 year old (1992-1995) cruising in his Nova listening to this, ACDC, Wilson Phillips and Paula Abdul.
Sorry to hear about your losses everybody. Keep your heads up and take care of yourselves !
Collective Saul was awesome. Are they still around?
This content is culturally significant. Posting it on UA-cam will ensure that future generations will have access to it and appreciate it. Thank you for sharing it.
I’m glad that they’re preserving this epic band’s legacy. Today they don’t make music like they used to. The music of the past decades 90s, 2000s, have more profound songs. Music was artwork. The songs of past decades had lyrics that touched the deepest corners of your soul. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Collective Soul, Nine Inch Nails, Linkin Park, Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilot. Music of the 90s and early 2000s need preserving. They are work of art.

My 3 year old son had been diagnosed with an aggressive brain stem tumor, medulloblastoma, in 1993. He and his two-year old sister LOVED this song, jumping on the bed and yelling out the chorus "Wooohhh" as I played it over and over in late 1993 and early 1994. He passed in February, 1994 but I'll never forget this song as it made him imminently happy in his last days!!

Jesus died and rose again to save you from Hell, but you must accept him as your savior first. These Bible verses explain how you can accept Jesus as your Savior and have eternal life (John 3:16, Romans 3:23, 6:23, 5: 8-9, 8:28, 10: 9-10, 10:13, Ephesians 2: 8-9, John 14: 6, John 1: 1, 1 John 5: 7, Hebrews 11, James 1:17, 1 Corinthians 15: 51-55, 1 Thessalonians 4: 13-18, Revelation 21: 4 -6) 🙂

This is the kind of calming song your dad played in the car at medium-low volume while driving the family home on the highway late at night, front windows rolled down with a cool breeze coming in, you and your siblings asleep in the back.

This the song of my time, I guess I am old, very old now. But I do not consider myself old though.
......ON WEED
For me it's coming back after getting a load of candy and arriving by the truck my dad used to drive at the trailer my grandma lives in to spend the night there.
If I can’t go back to the 80’s , I will take the 90’s for sure. I remember dressing grunge all the time. Yes, girls wore flannels, construction boots, or doc martens , and a pair of jeans. I’m 51 . I feel as if time has sped up . Bittersweet
👍
I also miss the 90’s. I haven’t worn flannel since then 😂😂. Doc Martens and construction boots left blisters on my feet but hey I wanted to look cool 😂😂.
In the 70's we hippie chicks wore sleeveless white T with bib overalls lace up brown work boots and the ever present flannel shirt. Nothing's new under the Sun except once.

That grungey guitar riff with the 'yeah' is an ultimate 90s rock sound 😎

Keep the faith brother , godspeed to u and ur family.
They played a concert in Savannah, GA in the early 2000's. It was outdoors down by the river. A storm rolled in shortly after they took the stage and it started raining and lightning pretty bad. And this storm was no joke. Half the crowd left for cover because it was intense. Huge rain drops just pouring down. Lightning not too far away lighting up the sky. They all kind of gathered at the back of the stage for a minute, then came running back out. The singer said something about how they were making them call off the concert due to the weather, but they weren't going to leave until they played the song we all came to hear. Then they rocked this song out while getting soaked. Nobody would have blamed them for leaving when they were told to, but they hung in there for us and I'll always remember that.
Sounds like it was a once in a lifetime experience, I wish I was there.
That's awesome dedication really. Great memory and experience.

My mom randomly sent this to me, man it brought me back. Wish I was around when jt was new.
I named my youngest daughter after this song; Heaven. Every time i hear it i send it to her and think about her and how beautiful she turned out to be. "HEAVEN LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE DOWN."
My mom had this cd and gave it to me when I was 6 yrs old. She is the strongest woman in the world to me. Raised 5 kids on her own no family helped us. Prayers she is very sick and she means the world to me.

This song represents a time when music was simple but great
Nah, the alternative revolution brought alot of junk that degenerated into angry uncontrolled fires. This song brought light to an era that was getting increasingly dark.
it's still extremely simple today. You just need an auto-tune

Steven Attanasso thank you. I try my best. And your dad sounds like he was a wonderful father. No matter how old we get, we always miss those who raised us and/or loved us.
@@SunBunz Sounds like he was a truly special man. It actually reminds me of the story of my maternal grandmother, a severe alcoholic who constantly neglected my mother and her two siblings. It's a very long story, and I don't know all the details, but I do know that her Christmas/birthday present (my aunt was actually born on Christmas day, believe it or not!) to them on, what I believe was my mom's 17th year of life, was to go to rehab.
She hasn't have a drop of alcohol since that day and is now slowly approaching her last days from congestive heart failure. She probably has no more than a few years left, sadly. Still, she's had a long and fulfilling life of about 75 years, so I can't complain. I'm going to miss her so much.
No one will ever match the vibes of that “yeah”. Iconic moment of the 90s
My Grandmother, rest her soul, came from a background that integrated all peoples, and helped all she could to see the truth. Not some small minded, money cashe. But the real truth. Without that, all humans are just pawns..

My grandpa was on a slow decline with his health. The last time he was ever able to drive us, we just drove around. Looking for deer. Watching the sun set and sky. This song came on the radio he loved it. He was so funny he’d say the “yeah” in such a funny way to get me to laugh. I didn’t know this would be my last ride with him or last time jamming out in the car. This song makes me miss him so much. He was driving 10-15 under the limit and it still wasn’t slow enough.. time moves too fast. This was last October and I miss him more every day. He was like another father to me. I’m sorry about what happened with your dad. You are doing such a good deed. I hope you are doing okay.
Christian song on the sneak. I always applauded them for getting us non believers to jam out and sing: "Heaven let your light shine down!" :D
Jordan Allen how is it Christian? Muslims like me And jews believe in heaven too.
Its not a christian song
Probably wouldn't even call it an Abrahamic song
Jordan Allen yeppers!
That’s pretty awesome 😎
'이것은 나를 위한것이 아니다
힘없고 나약한 나의 '형제자매' 그들을 위해 나는 괴물이 되었다"
We miss you general Cho....
RIP

.
Awesome song. When I hear it on the radio, I open all my car windows and crank it up
It's the best, my eldest brother absolutely loved it and told me to listen to it, he passed 38 and
28 years those riffs still make me bang my head compulsively.
Yes , i feel the same . This was also from the very first time i heard It , back in the 90 ' s , of course . I always remember this beautiful one and i still love It . So special , for me .
Hell Yeah¡¡
Lol yeah 🤣
Fa'sho
Who's still jammin this in 2023, damn brings back a lot of memories?
Released on 1993 and I was 17 back then 😢😢😢😢. Wish i had time machine. 80s 90s was a beautiful era
This song “Shine” is the reason why Christianity is cool…”yeah”.
Some day this song will become a big time classic. It could have easily compete against the great ones of early days.
Fredtheguitarguy I'm aware of this too, but why would that interfere with listening to a great song?
Fredtheguitarguy Ah, I see. Yeah, I guess it's hard not to think about Cho when listening to it. Still a good song though, I guess cause it's somewhat of an upbeat/relaxing song at times that it helped cheer Cho up? Maybe that's why he listened to it a lot, I mean? Not sure, that's just one theory though.

Well yes, association can be a pain at times but you don't have to connect with everyone just because they breath too.
hahahah are you serious, these lyrics are the corniest of cheesedick garbage
Good point, but many people, non-English speaking for example, only listen to the beat.
Oh 90's music, Please COME BACK!!
+Rodrigo Silva I totally agree, today its all about pop and rap
+Eli Gallet ok thats totally not fair to say. theres still a lot of awesome stuff around today. mumford and sons, of monsters and men, florence and the machine, among others are pretty solid albeit softer alt-rock groups. plus the good oldies are still around. blink 182, fall out boy. rhcp, and weezer are still alive and kicking.
+Matthew Papalionakis The only good band you mentioned is RHCP.
+Rodrigo Silva yeah!
yeah 90s was a great era for music, especially this stuff. but their new stuff is awesome so that's a plus :P
Forever on my playlist! Memories of being on a beach in South America in the 90’s where music played from a loudspeaker, music everywhere there. Suddenly, in the mix of Latin salsa music, this amazing tune came on! ❤😂❤
Love is in the water
Love is in the air
Show me where to look
Tell me, will love be there?
Will love be there?
Teach me how to speak
Teach me how to share
Teach me where to go
Tell me, will love be there?
Will love be there?
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Whoa, Heaven let your light shine down
Whoa, Heaven let your light shine down
Whoa, Heaven let your light shine down
Whoa, Heaven let your light shine down
I feel this song has one of most underrated guitar solos. The whole song is relatively simple and the solo just goes ham.
Sure
I agree 😢
Get thee into the underrated corner
This song, and Free Bird are simply unbeatable.
Their guitarist has a mastery of fast pentatonic scales played in correct meter - clean, accurate, and quick. 👍🏽
I'm an original rocker from the 60's and 70's and I can tell you that this tune ROCKS. My friends and I (ALL over 50) agree this is reminiscent of "our" rock and roll. Beautiful!
