  • One piece CNC manufactured doors with mitred moulding - cutters and process explained. This is the new Fibrapan Hidrofugo ‘Plus’ board from Finsa - even denser and better core than the original Hidrofugo moisture resistant MDF.
Cutters from Rennie Tools and Wealden Tools, Controlled by Vectric V-Carve.
The video also shows our more usual ‘2 piece method, various door section samples, and the finish that can be achieved with waterbased spray paints on this type of one piece door with a little sanding.

With a set up like that I don't think the 45 mins per door is a problem. Set it all up for multiple doors & send it on its way, allowing you to carry on with other stuff. Door looks great btw

I basically agree, it depends on the balance of work going through the workshop at the time. There are things the cnc could be doing in that time that are more profitable, in which case it might be better for staff to cut and attach a pine moulding to a simple door. But if staff are piled out with other work and the cnc is at idle, then we could do the doors this way. The time when it’s definitely a job for the cnc is funny shaped doors, especially curved mouldings - then this is definitely the solution

Fantastic video. I don't have CNC, but the ballanced panel❤. Now for a day of routing rebates.

At 0:12 it looked like a bone ;-) That 45 mins of time for a door is only a problem, if a more money-making thing is waiting to be build. If machines are not used, they also cost money. If there will be a batch of those, I suggest custom shaping bits which allow to skip some extra passes. What part of the job took the most time? Recessing?

Yes I spotted that bone shape in progress too! The longest process was the fine shaping of the profile. I agree we could design a profile to match the curve of larger rounded bits in a minimum of passes, then just get the fine tool to square off into the corners

I'd imagine those doors are quite heavy. How do you stop the screws pulling out of the hinges? Great video by the way. Thank you.

It’s a dense board so fairly heavy yes. But it also holds screws well (when screwed into the face/rear of board not the edge). We mount them on concealed hinges and have never had issues with the hold of the 35mm hinge boss and screws into the back of the door. For th connection to the carcase we use the type of mounting plate that has euro screws pre-mounted, fitting into 5mm diameter predrilled holes. Apart from all that, it’s a case of specifying the appropriate quantity of hinges per door. And if a door is particularly large and heavy we would step up to using the Sugatsune J95 heavy duty concealed hinges
