Extremely helpful, I was about to buy a new drum but thought of searching and found your video. You saved me a lot of money. Thank you!!!
Wonderful illustration! Vivid & encouraging! Many Thanks
hi, I followed your instructions since I had been getting the "drum" alert on my Brother machine. Just finished putting it together.. drum was OK, just cleaned as you said..hated the little ring business, now it's getting a new cartridge, THANKS :)))
Thank you. I think you have saved me an expensive trip to go and buy a new drum! Fortunately I have some isopropyl alcohol in my workshop. Sometimes it is good to be a bit geeky. ;-)
Thank you! I was having blue splatter spots all down the left side of my pages. Turns out there were blue spots on the drum roller (at least I think it was the drum roller). Like you said (at 2:05 in) I wiped it clean with a dry cloth. There were almost no spots on the next print job. I cleaned it again and it's perfect now.
Thanks for your teaching
Good job! It worked. Thanks.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH
Thank you.
You save me a 100 bucks thanks
You did all the things you cautioned one not to do. You touched the drum with your thumbs. You rubbed the drum in both directions. Which way is correct????????
+nurse mom you can touch the drum with fingers before the cleaning, I cleaned the drum only in one direction.
YOU ARE A GOOD TEACHER.
thanks from sri lankan. sri lanka is wonder of asia. and iam ethnically tamil
I was almost traveling from village to city for just a mare cleaning
Thinking that the drum was ruined due to squished spider guts all over it, I was just about to buy a new printer. But after watching this video, I thought, "What the heck, I'll give it a try... if I ruin it, I'll have to buy a new printer anyway". (The price for a new drum was twice what I originally paid for the printer!) I had eyeglass cleaner wipes (isopropyl alcohol) handy and with the drum in place, I wiped the drum clean going back and forth with no harm done. The isopropyl alcohol was visible after wiping so I dried the excess with an eyeglass cleaner micro cloth. There's no need to remove the drum, you can spin it by pushing on the gear as you go through the two-step process on all the (eventually revealed) surface areas. Reinstalled and had to run about five or six print pages to get a somewhat clean page. All of the black dots and excess toner were gone from the test pages after the seventh or eighth printing.
I dont mean to be so off topic but does anyone know a method to get back into an instagram account??
I was stupid forgot my login password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me!
@Jadiel Kyle Instablaster =)
@Landen Francisco i really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and im in the hacking process now.
Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@Landen Francisco it did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my ass :D
@Jadiel Kyle Happy to help xD
Did not have IPA in my chembox, used some mysterious nondescript "Alcohol 95%" and paper towels.
worked just fine, printing quality improved from "almost unreadable" to "few tiny dots here and there", but those are permanent kinks on the drum.
Probably shouldn't print any ransom notes on it, but otherwise, it's just fine.
my printer is hp lase jet m1217nfw mfp ...the glass is clean the scanned documents which are saved on my pc ...does print very lightly ...and the normal prints are gud
I have an hp colorlaserjet pro mfpm182n and I have I installed new opc drums in some of my toner cartridges, the print first had faulty colors but then after color calibration they were resolved.would you please tell why did that happen and what actually color calibration do to the toners?
Calibration only adjust the "position" of the toner cartridges, it has little to do with the dark/light settings.
How do I get access to the non-drum rollers in the HP toner cartridge? I have an HP Laserjet Pro M402n. There's a partial horizontal line that repeats on every page at the far side of the page, with a small 1/4 inch gap in between it. The distance between marks is about 1.4 inches.
what's the non drum rollers? fusers?
Where did you get the new drum at 1:17? It looks exactly like the one I'd need for my Samsung ML-2850D laser printer. I'd be more than happy if you could direct me to a store where I could buy such a replacement drum.
Try Delacamp, Uninet Imaging, Alibaba, avoid ebay
Many thanks for sharing. I did this and I still get black lines down the left and right hand side of the page. Problem comes when my cat had cat curiosity with my printer. What cleaner do you advise? Is soft toilet paper okay to use or do I need to use a cotton cloth?
It's the same, you can use both
Bot a new aftermarket Drum Ass'y for Brother TN360 and placed it into printer; have gotten message re "drum unit end soon" but it's new. Do I need to do a reset of some kind on it? Printings are rather light but don't believe it was exposed to light other than very momentarily between packaging and immediate insertion into printer. Help
yes, you'll find reset procedures in this channel
what's the difference in the various toner powders, can you use one powder in another printer.
no, it's not possible. Only in certain cases
How to insert Hp lesserjet mfp141a iam confusing that
I just changed the toner of my panasonic printer model KX-MB772, but the quality is bad and I see small black dots on the paper, what's you suggestion to do? By the way, I found a toner leak from the old cartridge and I cleant it as much as I could. I'll send you a copy of my printing paper to your email.
+Mohamed Maroof the bad quality probably is related to the drum unit, not to the toner cartridge that is only a container. try cleaning the drum unit
where can you buy just the drum and not the whole drum unit? I have a brother mfp-9430cdw and I can't seem to just find the green drum.
Try searching with google, or on ebay. it's not easy to find because it's difficult to change
Wait, you touched the drum? Is it okay to touch the drum if you clean it afterwards?
Also, I have a printer (Brother HL-2140) that I tested with a pure black print. There is a single horizontal white line and the bottom of the page seems faded like a stain of white. The drum has never been changed on the printer and currently ~8000 pages have been printed on it. Is the problem with with drum or the print cartridge (they are two separate units on this printer)?
+Imran A. Mughal yes, it's possibly to touch an OPC drum if you clean it afterwards.
probably the problem of your Brother is the toner cartridge, or a damp paper.
viandant5 Okay, thank you! I will try another toner cartridge and hope for the best. Btw, awesome videos you have here, I've watched at least 10 already...some of them twice!!
+Imran A. Mughal happy to help you!
my hp 4000 laser jet got into a jam with some labels. sticky stuff got on the drum and there are big black smudges on it. finally i got the jam cleared out after several attempts and now this cartridge might be trashed--i dont know. i have a picture but cant upload it here. it doesnt rotate easily...any suggestions??thanks for the video
+banjolady May be the wiper blade has flipped, try rotate the drum by hand some cm conversely, then again in the right direction. also, may be the wiper blade is damaged
+viandant5 thanks it doesnt move at all either way. its a 27a for the hp4000. can i send u a picture?
+banjolady yes, send me a picture
hello, i was able to clean the drum of my hp color laser printer 2550L with the isoprophy liquid and after that, my printer outputs are now light than it used to be.thanks for your tutorials,. I learnt from this video that its as a result of over exposure to light. what can be done to reset this so that my print-outs are normal colour as seen on pc?
A worn out drum must be changed, it's not possible to repair it
hi again, i removed the wiper blade to clean it, i realised brownish powder covered by the blade, is it ok to shake off all this powder and dispose or they are a useful powder for the drum?
hi again, i removed the wiper blade to clean it, i realised brownish powder covered by the blade, is it ok to shake off all this powder and dispose or they are a useful powder for the drum?
That powder is waste toner, you can remove it
my printer is a hp laser color M274n .Ifilled the empty toners with the adequate colors but the problem is that the toners leak.the printed pages are always dirty.(small particles (red, blue yellow)appear on the page even when the print is black)Icleaned the opc drums several times but the problem persists.please ,can you tell me how to fix the problem?
NB: my printer is brand new and this is the 1st time I refill the toners.Ichecked the procedure of refilling the toners many times but the problem is still there.
Thanks in advance.
may be the recovery blade is defective, or in case the drum is dirty it may be the wiper blade. check the mylar blade of the developer roller
I HAVE A CANON H12256 LASER COPIER IT HAS A NEW TONER BUT STILL PRINTS TOO LIGHT.
CAN YOU HELP ME TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THANKS
You can clean the transfer roller with a cloth slightly dampended with water, change the paper may be it's damp, check the laser scanner glass
Hi Buddy,
How much is life of an OPC drum. I use cartridge 320A, ~ 322A and after 2-3 refill, printouts are not as sharp as new cartridge.
Probably you have to change the drum after the second refill
viandant5 thanks buddy
From my toner came out a lot of lubricate and got into my drum. around 10% of one side my drum can barely print. is there a way to get it out? i was a bad toner and it all came out from its gear. it will not evaporate no matter how many prints i do. is there a way to fix that?
Clean the drum with isopropyl alcohol
What is the reason for toner appearing on the drum. Due to which there are streaks on the print outs.
Probably the wiper blade is damaged
Is there a way to change/replace the wiper?
it's often possible
Can I use a pure wool soft brush?
make attention, drum are easy to scratch. in my opinion it's easier ot use a soft cloth.
is there any alternative to isopropyl alcohol? i guess it's not easy to find in local grocery store
isopropyl alcohol is the best. plain alcohol could leave residues on drum surface
Not the grocery store... you need to go to your chemists. They sell small bottles cheaply.
What about the never touch part?
you are right, obviously it's better never touch the drum surface after the cleaning
hey! why is there a fat ink line in the middle of the paper when i print something????????????? Plz reply if u have a suggestion
without knowing which printer do you have it nearly impossible to say, may be a faulty cartridge
Hi,
I'm working with a Canon CLC4040, my problem is that after replacing the magenta drum, after few hundred prints, the drum gives the same problems as the old did... after the first page, prints have magenta stripes on 1 side?! Can you help me please?
may be the wiper blade is defective, or take a look at the developer roller
viandant5 aren't they both inside the drum unit? Which is pretty new and has the same problem as the old one...
dId you change the whole unit or only the drum? it's strange, give a look at the transfer roller
viandant5 the whole unit! Thanks
sir
i want to buy a first RC machine of canon. how to kow good condition machine in all respects. please give the full and clear answer at your kind perusal. which parts i have to see and which area i have to test , how to test
for start look at the fuser, verify if the drum is too worn, print some test copies.
Is there any physical way to analyse that the drum is damaged due to exposure of light?
Sometime it changes color on the areas exposed to sun or light
I cleaned all drums of hp laser jet color printer 3600. while quality of print and font darkness has improved, the horizontal black lines are still coming on the print. any guidance will be helpful
Mahesh Dubey which is the distance between the horizontal line? are they alwais at the same distance and position? anyway may be the drum is damaged, so cleaning it is useless
viandant5 distance between two horizontal lines is one inch approx. these are regular on the printed page.Being colored prinetr there are four cartridges and one fuse cartridge/ drum ' Though I cleaned all, which oneyou are mentioning for rectification or replacement.
Mahesh Dubey probably it's not fault of the drum. the distance of one inch may be the developer roller or the charge roller. to clean them you have to disassemble the cartridge.
SIR WHICH OPC DRUM IS SUITABLE FOR BROTHER L5900DW PRINTER
It has its own drum
Where do you get the ink to lubricate the drum? How to get it from the cartridge?
the waste toner will work, or take it from the toner roller
My canon IR 3530 OPC drum black from left cornner i clean it ISOPROPIL ALCHOHOL bu after some time itss again black from corrner . Its new OPC drum i used it 3700 copy only. I also change cleaning blade . How i can do

hello sir. can i clean my xerox 7970 drum unit?
yes, it's possible
@@viandant5 thanks for quick response
I have an hp colorlaserjet pro mfpm182n. The problem is with the magenta cartridge that it's wiper blade has very tiny defect due to which magenta lining occurs on page after certain prints. Can you kindly guide me that how to repair defective wiper blade which is minutely defective.
I have searched for new wiper blade compatible for my cartridge but that's not available in my region. So if the defective wiper blade cannot be repaired them please suggest me another way.
Can I also switch the wiper blade of any other toner cartridge like yellow/ cyan/black which are used in less proportion or have bigger toner particles so that they would work fine even with a defective wiper blade.
Kindly guide.
It's not possible to repair a damaged wiper blade but you can remove the wiper blade from another cartridge, black cyan mageta or yellow is the same
@@viandant5 from which cartridge should I exchange to compromise least on quality?
@@hathakker802 they are all the same
@@viandant5 ok I get your point. But I am asking that from which cartridge should I replace the defective wiper blade with.?
Because some cartridges are used in less proportion than other.
@@hathakker802 it's the same. the color cartridges make less prints but the toner is more abrasive
I have faded paper problem with SCX 3401 printer. I am also tried to clean the Drum but its not working. So please help me.
The problem may be related to the toner powder, the developer roller or the charge roller
Gurdeep singh Adol Clean the blade of magnetic roller
my prints are coming fine but the problem is my scan documents saved in the pc are coming very light ..any ideas how to solve the problem i have re filled the ink wht no use . the prints are fines but the scan copies from the pc are not coming properly
Without knowing which is your printer, may be the glass of the scanner unit or the lens inside the scanner unit are dirty
Can a light exposed damaged also cause darker print?
In the copiers it could cause too dark prints with grey background on the page
@@viandant5 and for printers can it happen that damaged opc drum cause dark print?
@@hathakker802 it could cause light prints with grey background
Cleaned it, still getting black edge all along the page. Upon subsequent removal, drum's edge is dirty with toner again.
It-s useless to clean a worn drum. You have to change it
@@viandant5 Guess I have to do that then, thanks.
What happens if you clean them wit alcohol 96?
It could leave residues on the drum surface
Is it possible that doesn't print again? I mean, the laser doesn't stick on drum like before?
@@schlackstudio5326 it's possible that alchohl 96 ruined the drum surface
@@viandant5 So, I think I fucked it up D: Can I do something for it to print again?
