- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- In this episode of TFBTV, James is at Triggrcon 2018 in Bellevue, WA, where he meets with the engineers at Master of Arms to talk about the world's lightest AR-15: The 3.65 pound ENYO. Moreover, the MoA guys have a 3D printed, titanium monocore silencer to show off - the extraterrestrial-like "Duckpuppy". See the video for more information, and see the specs below:

From MoA's press materials:
"We set out to design the lightest no compromise AR-15 rifle that had ever been produced. We have designed all of our components around high performance materials, combined with advanced engineering allowed us to not sacrifice accuracy or durability while reducing weight in every possible component. Our Esoteric receiver set manufactured from 7095 Tennalum is not only light, its incredibly strong. We utilize a proprietary tensioned handguard system to ensure that our custom profiled barrel does not move during extended firing periods. In order to achieve this accuracy the barrel is heated during installation to allow the barrel to grow. Once the barrel has reached its maximum growth, we assemble the upper and torque the nose cone nut to ensure that when the barrel cools the handguard resists the barrel from shrinking, keeping the barrel in tension."

Refreshing to see so much innovation, technology, modern science & manufacturing techniques go into one beautiful creation. But enough about James's ripped physique, the rifle is pretty neat too.
PNS SHOGUN WoW
You are a creative guy my dude
Sorry to be so off topic but does anyone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account??
I somehow lost the account password. I love any tricks you can offer me!
@Pierce Edwin instablaster ;)
Normally i feel like the prices are pretty high, but the amount of innovation and quality is insane with this company and worth it
That ball bearing spring idea is brilliant!!!
spektr540hemi It's perfect for when you don't want your BCG to stay together when you need it to work... buffer the BCG with the Buffer look at DPM
We shall see how it goes. Only use will tell.
spektr540hemi true... thrown it on a binary lower ...
But that cost
Much ado about nothing
It's called a tuned mass damper (except this one doesn't have a damper per se). Some skyscrapers use them to deal with earthquakes.
I like the wight saving measures that don't involve cutting a bunch of gaping holes in the receiver. Nice job guys!
TFB TV: come for the videos, stay for the homoerotic comments about james
I love titanium as much as this guy, my wedding band is even in Ti64.
I gotta say, this has been one of if not THE best product presentations and shit-shoot I've ever seen. Real down to earth, homestyle stories of development, and brilliant design choices. MOA are real standup people, credit given where credit is due, that's not a bad price. To be frank lots of people are going to freak about the price, but the quality of concept, production, and machining looks spot on, and I know plenty of guys who've sunk right around $3,000 in aftermarket parts alone into ONE of their multiple AR's.
Without optics $3,200 is pretty nice for something you won't put much else into, especially compared to some custom 1911 proshops and small-batch rifle manufacturers.
Completely agreed 100%.
Handling this firearm in person was impressive, but I will admit that there is little distinction in felt weight between a three and five-pound rifle when they get that light.
I am looking forward to seeing more developments with the tensioned-barrel concept. If an integral suppressor were added to the barrel-retention nut at the front, maybe even mimicking the profile and thickness of the hand guard, I bet the set-up would be very light and extremely quiet for a 5.56.
I think the difference is in the accessories. With cautiously picked accessories, a mid 3lb rifle could be a 5 pound rifle with optics, suppressor, laser etc. Whatever you need. Vs 5lb rifle moving up to 7lb region
James, which Baby Gap can I get that shirt from?
Just kidding, love the show.
Would like to see a pistol version $3,800
Yea, would like to just look at pistol version.
Id just get the Fostech Fighter LITE...its just 2lbs heavier and has an echo trigger for $1299...you could get lighter weight BCG and other parts after that'll make it weigh even less and still be a fraction of the cost.
That AR Gold Trigger isnt worth its cost, I'd take a ELF Tactical over it...
3D PRINTED GHOST SILENCERS?! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
"Your reticle is video game smooth"
What's the bolt have to do with the reticle??
@@thomassteele1728 the shifting weight, when there is a heavy gun around it means the recoil or flip will be completely reduced when you reduce the shifting weight of the bcg
@@100ghillie it's also marketing BS. the amount of momentum transferred to the shooter is the same, they just dump it all at once when the carrier bounces off the buffer in the back. no way there is enough spring pressure to slow that rocket of a carrier
@@ravener96 You're right, but for the wrong reason. There are springs that can dampen the violence of the BCG. However, the momentum (being a function of both velocity and mass) will be affected by the mass and velocity but only marginally. It also depends a lot on the buffer spring coefficient. In a perfect setup, this would help recoil but it requires tuning across the entire rifle to make a large difference.
@@tmpace9 momentum is always conserved, it's a law of physics. since you give the same ammount to the bullet either way you will recieve the same ammount in turn. the entire gun as a system will impart the same momentum on your shoulder no matter how you set up the BCG. kinetic energy is a different story, but recoil is about momentum change.
Didn't make it to range day .... but made it arm day
...boom
@FederalPhoenix Ask the government, media and the medical community
Drew is a a genius. I did the Form 1 on the suppressor and it's quieter than my RC2.
Nutn fancy just came due to the SAWC of this AR
I love all the cool stuff reviewed that you cannot buy anywhere. If only they had a website in this day and age
Nice watch, James.
Just what I needed to find yet another Ultra expensive AR that I really want
Oh my God!!! 3D printed guns? Help me, I'm scared.
there there
It's nothing new. They have been around.ever since 3D printers hit the market..... pretty much any ways.
That AR fires like butter.
Such an incredible mind. You can tell this guy never sleeps, and studies to be the best at anything.
No one else cares enough to coat their individual parts in 'self-lubricating' coatings.
nickle-teflon parts have been common for decade and a half
@@rustys.1070 but this particular individual is a perfectionist, and has a mind for material science.
I just assembled a 5.5 lb. AR ,thats with a fully loaded mag and red dot (reflex) sight and sling for under $1000
Spec. ? I want to build something light weight ar10. New to a build.
So 2 pounds heavier?
@@banksta3 Is this loaded ? A 30 round loaded mag is about a pound and then the RDS and sling
My total was $1000
I leave this under every video I watched, it helps the algorithm.
This thing is a beast, but that price is NOT in my budget lol. Thanks for the vid, James!
I don't know, sounds great on paper the price aside but a bit far out there for my tastes. WWSD build would be as far as I would go
3-D printed silencer, literally, this is the future.
The guy in this video seems cool. Pretty interesting uses of additive manufacturing
Wish i could be there! Want everything lol big fan from Oregon!
This is the epitome of modern AR Range queens. But nobody can deny the sheer amount of Quality and Quantity that can be bought relatively cheaply in an AR. Absolutely mind blowing.
I like the ball bearing idea.
Don't like the price.
BlindAF verɪfɪed DPM... get one
You mean DPMS?I got a FailZero
Yeah, I build my own.
The price of the Master of Arms Nyx Titanium Carrier with Nickel Boron Bolt is 437 USD.
if they made a steel bcg with that ball bearing system maybe they could bring the price down from the skies lol
I'm not saying they're overpriced, it's just, I'd rather buy a complete surplus rifle with that money.
ENYO FACE! I love it. Good news is I won't see one in person because I would take it home. I would honestly rather have this than two $1400 ARs.
So rad. I )love innovative thinkers and executors even more. Onward!
2:15 failed to lock back.
ENYO...heck yeah, #3.6 And digging the Ti Can...
Looks pretty cool, can’t wait to see you guys review one
That is pretty awsome! I like that set up.
When are we going to see a review of this duckpuppy suppressor!?
That was the very first thing I saw when I got there on Sunday morning
Lost me at $3,800. Dayum.
J name I can't remember where I seen this figure but I believe it actually costs 1500 to make a SCAR due to the union that represents their workers. The materials aren't that bad but they pay everyone very very well
exotic materials and processes involved in making something like that.
I guess you could buy a $5,000,000 titanium printer and do most of the work yourself. If you're good with cad that is.
@@pcodyssey41 I've heard you only need a couple of weeks to understand CAD & with titanium 3D printer, buy a lower end element printer to start off. Is it really necessary to start off high class to protect yourself?
@@lilbarz5226 There's a big difference between being able to understand cad and being able to design parts that will withstand thousands of rounds of abuse and also perform well doing it. As far as the printer, there is no cheap printer that handles titanium powder. The cheapest one I could find was over $250,000 and that's just for the printer itself, it doesn't include any of the post processing machines you need to put out a finished product.
Looks awesome! 3,000 is alot but thats what you pay for 100% in house manufacturing and cutting edge designs like this. That deadblow BCG is genius!
This gun is for like real professionals who only do top tier competitions... or idk. I'd be afraid to sneeze near it, I love the design and the craftsmanship but you can't trust me with this one for a long term lol
So im guessing marines wont use it because it's too light to buttstroke effectively with
USonuMabeaCh
I’d give it a shot
Buttstroke?
Christian Terrill well you see my good man, our marines get very lonely out in the field and all that equipment can really chafe so........
Christian Terrill it's when you get lonely and you hit your friend in his face with your TOY lol
Carry an extra bullet.
Wow, Bellevue, Washington. This event occurred just a few months prior to the passing of I-1639.
Lightness requires compromise...... Guns are no exception to that. You probably don't want to get into a firefight that lasts more than 1/2 a mag with this gun. I'm curious to see what inexpensive graphene will do for firearms a few years down the road but I don't have much interest in a zero margin tolerances lightweight. The suppressor is a different matter though especially at $350 + 200
Damn you're right. I don't know about you but I'm getting into modern combat firefights about 2-3 times a week now.
You fail at snark and humor. Troll better!
It's not a troll, just a facetious joke, mate.
The compromise could come in the form of the price you pay for the gun and still have top quality, durable everything else. I don't think that's the case here. But it could be the case somewhere else.
The moment you fall in love...
Wow Drew loving your stuff man see you at work tomorrow ..wyatt
I had no idea this was going on in Seattle.
Kewl rifles & cans too
will want to see how its cost compares to the wwsd rifle. looks great love the work
I never knew how much I needed a very complex and expensive, 3d printed, titanium muzzle brake. I guess I'll get a titanium tube too. Just to use it as flashlight holder of course 😈
that suppressor seems pretty innovative, especially for the price.
Avoid holes in the reciever to prevent dust but have no dust cover. But still greatest light weight AR btw.
So light
Nadiel
She's a svelte little beauty...
It (barely) beat the Carbon 15.
...IT'S A TRAP!
this must have some incredible spring pressure to slow that rocket of a bolt carrier
Anybody else notice muzzle flash inside the handguard? Was the gas block loose, or was it a 10in barrel under a 15in handguard? See time stamp 2:09...
So how many rounds is the semi-disposable suppressor good for?
When is this getting torture tested on TFB TV? 😮
I wasn't aware the same company made the rifle AND the suppressor core until I watched this video. What kind of good luck is that?? I can't imagine the amount of study time it must take to read through expired patents, even in today's online searchable archives. On top of that the guy says he just printed one out and gave it a try!
Some folks have all the luck!
PS. Lots of very high marks in reviews of the unusual looking suppressor core on UA-cam.
This enyo is amazing. I'd love to try the bcg on my rifle but godamn $450 for it?
Much ado about nothing.
That suppressor interests me greatly.
Also called the "out of business."
This dude said I will built it and they will come. Fuck the price send it to the moon baby we’re building the most innovative shit ever devised.
That AR is going to drive the Californian legislators nuts, it has a anonymous look to it without the 'tactical' bells and whistles hung on it. You could says its a hunting rifle and make the Californian legislators prove it isn't. The dead blow ball is a brilliant way to smooth the reload cycle.
Lol. True! 🤣😅😂😆
Great, but pricey! Like to have one.
I want that silencer. He mentioned it being "disposable", but being titanium, it's got to be pretty long lasting on low volume of fire rifles, right? Not sure on the legality of selling it as a muzzle break, pretty sure Sig got in trouble for that years ago. If that does come to fruition, I'd love to get one for 30 cal and form one it. Would they then sell the sleeve and caps?
Titanium erodes more than other materials, thats why Ti cans spark a lot especially during mag dumps
@@quiettime6871 Bruh, this was 4 fuckin' years ago. Shut up. This thing isn't even around anymore, and I specifically said low volume of fire, ie no mag dumps.
I built a ar that weighed 4.6 pounds. So that's crazy light!
Yup! That's it! I'm buying one!
Hobo Bob half inch barrel
Yeah I heard that. It sounds as if its very well made. That being said I am no physicist so I hope that it is a solid firearm especially for the price. The bolt carrier group design is really an interesting invention. I'd like to see if I can fire one of these somewhere or find someone who has that can provide some valid information on how it operates. I'll probably wait for a few gun channel reviews before I pull the trigger but its on the list now and high up.
That "muzzle brake" is 100% a suppressor regardless if it is sleeved or not according to the ATF. All suppressor part are suppressors.
great vid brotha thanks..
This looks as if “It is as heavy as 10 boxes that you might be moving” *Jackson Lee
Lead in the dishwasher, smart
That ball bearing thing reminds me of my friend when he jumps down off of something high.
That thing is SWEET
Call Nutnfancy....3.5lb AR15 hahahh
Doesn't look like it'll fit in a fanny pack
@@blitzkrieg2003 fit's in his prison wallet.
Flatwire springs are the better way to stop bounce and return speed on the carrier.
We make everything... and then says. We don’t make trigger etc.
I saw that.
Siiiiiiick im buying one
I wanna see more from these guys, Im kinda smirking at that suppressor core.. i think i want one🤔
TFB TV James, whats all that flame about while the person was shooting, you can see flash right under the handguard? Thats scary lol
Now load it up up with 30 rounds of 77gr 5.56.
Muzzle blast INSIDE the hand guard....no thank you.
Yeah, youre gunna have to enclose the can. But your hands are still out in front of the real barrel. Cans do pop, and ammo does fail.
Are those "suppressors" NFA items? What about if it's bought as just a "muzzle brake?" And is an FFL required?
*Pumped up kicks intensify*
Check out the Ferfrans DSAS BCG has a similar system.
Damn, that's more than the last car I bought!!!
What's up with the flash coming from the forend?
Muzzle flash
I noticed that as well. Looks like is coming from the gas block.
@@jackkrinkov9273 Nah, it's coming out of the barrel. Pretty unusual. Guns aren't supposed to do that, right?
Jack Krinkov half inch barrel. Dumb idea imo
Joshua Aaron half inch barrel. Something goes wrong with the retention barrel he’s screwed. Doesn’t make sense
im in love
James getting a bit uneasy when he said "we can just sell its as a muzzle break too..." lol
Just when I thought they couldn't do more with the AR-15. Man, the DOD is REALLY behind on small arms development. I'm sure cops would love these, too.
This is not a battle ready rifle, as he mentioned it's extremely thin barreled and likely would not hold up to sustained fire let alone full auto.
This is for 3Gun and other such sports, hence why it lacks a dust cover, back up sights, forward assist and other military features.
Video game smooth with a DLC coating
I saw flames where the gas block is. Hope that doesn't cause any issues
Why are there no videos or anything about the duck puppy except this one?
Let's see it after 25,000 rounds
They were not kidding about the homoerotic comments. I fucking love it!
All for .223... "We've reduced the recoil". What recoil?
When you're shooting competition, it becomes different. Every 1/32" of sight movement costs you time.
Classic Random Hobo: Hey, you might be right. I don't compete. But I know what that rifle is/does in combat. Not stopping anyone from seeking out the rifle, but I know you can fire an unmodified A2 off of your groin and still group at 25yds.
Lassi Kinnunen: I know the bearing serves to add kinetic mass to the bolt and carrier. Or you could have not fluted the carrier, It would've added an ounce or two and then you'd not had to worry about ftf. You'd still have a 4-5lb rifle. Just seems a bit over designed is all.
"I know you can fire an unmodified A2 off of your groin and still group at 25yds" There must be a really strange story behind this info.
TexZenMaster yup and off of your forhead no problem, like a light push
I'm a bit surprised the ATF lets them sell the core as a muzzle break when it's the same thing they use for their suppressor.
Seattle?! I'm from there! Sadly I haven't been there for 9 years... Anyways, I love Seattle and I love Washington. I just despise the guns laws there. Speaking of which, guns in Washington? whaaa?
I though SBSs are hard to get everywhere and because of that bullshittery we have people like Fostech now selling what technically by definition and function is an SBS as a non-NFA "firearm".
Spokane as well, don't forget about the bump-stock ban, it went into effect this July
OOF. Infringing our rights. In fact, if we shoot liberals who infringe our rights... isn't that legal? I mean, we have the second to shoot thise scum bags, right? Why did nobody shoot them yet?
Very Cool
I was hoping it was a Miles video so I can say something mean.
I wish a company would make a sub $1000 sub 5 lb AR.
The U.S. is already trying to capitalize on 3D printed guns. UNEXPECTED!!! WOW
