    First things first, I'm so glad I wore headphones while playing this temple at night. It made me feel like I was really there.
    Also, I find it a funny, that pretty much all the other sages stayed and journeyed by your side (like literally glued next to you) to the temples' entrances, but Sidon's like: "Whelp I'll see you at the next checkpoint buddy!!" and leaves you by yourself

      @@pigglesgoomshby7249true, he must've just not cooperated with the physics and got stuck in walls and whatnot. He already flips into existence from the sky if you get away from him/he gets stuck somewhere. It must've been bad since his model is so huge on top of that. That actually might explain why the water temple itself was so short.

    I really felt like the Ancient Zora Waterworks would have made a better Water Temple than the actual temple. Maybe it's because I did the Wind Temple first, but having another temple in the sky felt a little forced. But I guess yet another "control the flow of water" gimmick would have been overdone. Admittedly, this temple utilized the low gravity so it did at least offer something that's not been done in previous water temples.

    I think there's 2 reasons why the Water Temple is in the sky: "The circle of water" where the temple represents the clouds providing water. And I think the Switch would never be able to render a temple in the water, or will struggle doing it.

      The low gravity is also a neat workaround to simulate being underwater, while still being in the open air.

    • @eskey6772
      @eskey6772 5 днів тому +1

      Why do you think the Switch would not be capable of doing something other Nintendo consoles have done before ?
      Edit :
      Besides, the techniques needed for a convincing underwater temple are already given by the fire temple
      1. A full screen modulator for the shading
      2. A full screen shader that simulates the water (if a full screen modulation is not convincing enough
      We could solve this cheaper too; we coul hijack the Depth Buffer in the graphics pipeline and make the Switch grade it blue and apply it to the full screen when under water, like that we can get a fog effect which is so cheap, even the N64 could do it
      Implementations in video games are rarely a hardware question
      More a question of creative ways to solve problems and a question whether you know the hardware you are working with
      The Switch is not a weak console, it has strengths and weaknesses;
      What is one of the biggest weaknesses of the console ? - it's memory
      So why are we not going to solve the underwater issue with a solution that can be solved with the GPU directly ?
      Aka reusing the Depth Buffer

    Unpopular Opinion: Mucktorok was my second favourite of the bosses, and the Water Temple isn't as bad as people say. The low gravity makes it an extremely fun boss and temple, and the puzzles weren't as hard as I'd like them but still make you think and are require some creativity that makes you feel good in the end. Sidon's powers were basically designed to fight Mucktorok, which makes the fight a lot of fun.
    I do have a light bias to the Zora though, as Mipha was my favourite champion and I love everything about them, so that might've swayed my opinion.

    I’m gonna be honest, in terms of the Water Temple itself, it has to be my least favorite. At first the music really fell flat for me as well. Doing this one after Wind and Fire left me wanting for more. The only phase of the song that I actually noticed while doing the temple was the final phase. I still love the song, but in terms of Temple construction, still left a little to be desired.
    Loved the idea of low-g, but the uninteresting formatting made me wish for an underwater temple somehow.
    Also has the worst boss, so it doesn’t have a whole lot going for it.

    • @joypink5599
      @joypink5599 Рік тому +3

      Okay, I have more opinions now. This theme is absolutely incredible, but I still think that the Water Temple itself doesn’t fit the sincerity, the grandiose, and desperation of the piece. Maybe that’s why I didn’t notice it entirely at first, was because the Temple’s puzzles and atmosphere didn’t captivate me.
      I know I’m being hard on this temple, and I still think it’s not the worst we could’ve gotten, but for a Water Temple in TotK, I think it could tried being a little more. Why is the Wind Temple clearly the tutorial story and boss, but they treated the WT as the tutorial TEMPLE. It drives me crazy. If the temple had been anywhere close to the Lightning Temple, I could’ve comfortably called it my favorite, as it easily has my favorite plot line in terms of character. (The LT is my fav for gameplay)
