The amount of leitmotifs this battle OST has is insane. From the main TotK theme to Zelda's Lullaby, the Dragon instrumental, BotW theme, and more. It just has it all.
@@mattarificwolflink9280I’d say it’s more reminiscent of the Fairy Fountain theme than anything - what with the four descending notes with each cadence.
I don’t care how weird this sounds. When Link rammed the Master Sword into Ganon’s head, and the secret stone smashed to pieces, I started crying. That felt like the final act of revenge- Ganon took everything from Link. Two generations of his friends, the kingdom’s well-being, and Zelda’s humanity. That final strike was so utterly visceral and emotional it was overwhelming.
I don't care that Tears of the Kingdom didn't win Game of the Year at the Game Awards, this scene and virtually everything that lead up to it, including the entire story of Breath of the Wild, made it EASILY my favorite game this year!
Sadly, the Demon Dragon is Ganondorf, which is neither Ganon, the great evil from most Zelda games, nor Calamity Ganon, and the dragon doesn't have consciousness, so the final blow was against Ganondorf in the previous battle.
3:08 - 3:21 listen to the horns in the background instrumentals - that's the BOTW theme!! and then 3:21 - 3:35 ish, a different set of horns play Zelda's Lullaby! aaaaa I love this song so much

This really felt like it was supposed to be the conclusion of Ganondorf's story, he loses his consciousness to become the Demon Dragon, then gets obliterated as a result. I'm really hoping we see a new villain in the next installment. Maybe they can bring back Vaati. Seeing Vaati in 3D would be epic
Tbh that's what Dark Beast Ganon was supposed to be, Zelda even said "He's given up reincarnation!" so assuming the demon dragon transformation would work the same way, then this Ganondorf hopefully should no longer reincarnate. I mean, Demise's curse has to run out at some point right?
@@xSharpW, Not necessarily, if you recall, Demise said that his curse would have no end, so I'm sure at some point, Ganondorf will show up again at some point. @@danko8983 well yes but in BOTW ending he didn’t return it. But imagine he returns it to the korok forest, but something happens to it. In BOTW, malice weakens it. In TOTK, Ganondorf completely destroys it. What if in the third game, Demise completely steals the master sword and you face someone like Ghirihim, Vaati, or Zant to get it back?
So I had realized something of the whole concept of the secret stones and draconification in this game. It's based off the Japanese myth of the Ryujin, or Dragon King. Although the script here is flipped. Instead of the princess stealing the dragon's gem and the dragon becoming human, an evil king steals a gem from a queen and the princess becomes a dragon.
This fight really feels like a culmination of all of the different Links saving Hyrule from Ganon. It's at the very end of the timeline, this Zelda has probably been through more than any other in the series, and it really feels like you are finally getting rid of Ganon/Ganondorf for good. If they introduce a new permanent antagonist for the series after this I wouldnt complain.
Ya, I wouldn't get my hopes up on a new permanent antagonist as no matter how many times Ganondorf has been struck down by the Master Sword, he'll always return.
its also philosophic they let the dragon grow biggger and bigger. Till the archtypical hero showed up and defeated him him by picking up the old and the new and slaying the dragon. With the culmination of catching zelda (the head of the kingdom) and saving it all.
As a fight, I think Demon Dragon was WAY better in terms of visuals and gameplay, probably PEAK if I do proclaim. But the music for this one honestly sounds just ok. The first and third phases are great, but the second phase is honestly just bland. It’s honestly rather disappointing in comparison to Dark Beast Ganon’s music. I’m not saying every song out there has to have an amazing solo, but I’d like it to have SOMETHING other than high strings and low brass. I understand they were trying to convey the importance of the scene being connected to Zelda being a dragon, but the references to Zelda’s Lullaby and the BotW main theme were cool in the beginning, and got old in the 2nd phase. It really isn’t a bad song, but the 2nd phase is so boring that I can’t in good conscience say that it’s better than Dark Beast Ganon’s theme. That theme OOZES with passion and dedication. While this theme is just… another Zelda boss theme. It honestly hurts me to say that because it IS a really good song outside of the 2nd phase.
