I'm so greatful to have been recommended this video for several reasons: Naturally, the first one is because I find it useful. Then, the old-fashioned calm is so refreshing. Young creators are so euphoric about tech and just rush to speak up their minds. Young people tend to forget that elderly people also use tech and should be up-to-date in order to take advantage of the new updates and trends. I feel glad to see you, dear Ellen, teaching everyone that no matter your age, tech is for every age.
The early reminder feature is the best for reminders. So glad that feature is now available because I have been using it already. Keep up the great work with these videos. Your production quality is 5 star level
Thank you so much! Great stuff! 👌🏻As a non native English speaker its very easy to follow your well articulated instructions and explanations. Look very much forward seeing your other tutorials!
Thank you for your easily understandable explanation. I enjoy your videos. I’ve learned so much from you. I tried setting up my grocery list and it worked great. I think I can actually stop hand writing my list. I dislike grocery shopping and always would rewrite my list in store aisle order to get done quickly. This is perfect!
Wonderful! You make it so understandable and I really enjoy learning from you. Your speech, pace and knowledge are just what I need to make my iphone serve me better. Thank you!😃
This app is so in depth. I followed your last reminders program and set up the data base as you instructed. Now the base work is done it’s up to me to test drive it. I’m a visually impaired Apple system user but I’ve never understood this App, because it’s so in depth. Like a data base in some ways I’m thinking. Impressive work Ellen I will preserve with it I think.
Excellent clear and helpful. Thanks Ellen. I converted my shopping list to a groceries style list, but had to put it back to a plain list. I use the shopping list on my Apple watch. When I view the list on the watch it displays all the categories most of which are empty but you need to scroll through them all looking for the few categories which have something in them.
Excellent instructive video. I am trying to learn the new apple updates quickly. Your willingness to go step by step and at such a level of detail is truly appreciated. Are you a former Apple instructor? Changing topics 1. What microphone are you using? Are you using an iPhone to record this video?
Thank you so much! I’ve never been an Apple Instructor. I just love Apple products. I’m using a Shure MV 7 microphone and I record my iPhone using Screenflow. Thanks for the questions.
Another wonderful video. Thank you Ellen. It’s clear that after Christmas I’ll have to upgrade my iPad because I can’t get IOS17. My iPhone is in the same state so I have an expensive January coming up!
Thank you so much !! Learned a couple of new hacks. One question though, just like how you used grocery section template for X & Y grocery shop, is it possible for us to create custom section template and use the same in one or more list ?
You certainly can set different sounds but it would be for all your reminders. Settings>Notifications>Reminders>Allow Notifications>On>Sounds. Choose the sound that you like in the next screen.
Here’s my take: The calendar is for appointments (e.g. doctor visit on tueday at noon). Reminders is for your things to do list (e.g. buy milk, put out the trash, finish research project).
Are you asking g if you can change a Grocery List back to standard? If so yes… open the reminders list tap the three dot in the upper right corner. Now choose show list info and charge grocery to Standard. Hope that helps.
Within a list, the bullet is an open circle. By clicking on the circle, does it remove the item (as if it has been completed)? I want my list to remain static and click the circle for what I need that particular trip. Does my question make sense?
When you click on a circle that item disappears removing it from the list. The rest of your items would still be there. Let me know if that’s what you’re looking for.
Very clear and understandable As with so very many other instructional videos, there is a recurring language crutch. I’m reluctant to point it out because it will become an ear wig. “GO AHEAD”
after i make my reminder ....i want to add a date.....how to i make the date for several days....i know how to add for one date but how to add several days?....Thank you !
Use the repeat option. Create your reminder, tap on the (i) choose date and time and then choose repeat. There’s a custom option or choose one of the pre populated ones. Hope that helps!
After summoning Siri, I requested "add steak and green pepper to my shopping list," and Reminders created the items into 2 separate categories (neat AND produce). Two for one!
Hi PopcornMike! Here some information on the reminders audible alarms it’s been there for awhile: You would need to go to Settings>Notifications>Reminders. From there, set a Sound. Make sure that Allow Notifications is turned on and that the iPhone is not on Mute and the volume is turned up. In your Reminders, after you enter a reminder, for you to receive a notification, you have to configure the reminder with a setting under Date or Date and Time for it to generate a sound reminder.

One of the best features in iOS 17!

I watch a lot of Apple "how-to" videos and this is the best one about the new Reminders features I've seen. Thank you! Love your videos!
Thanks so much Lee! I appreciate your support.

Glad it was helpful David! Sorry it didn’t work out for you. You might be able to remove some of the categories.
Thank you Ellen. Very clear!

Thanks Elisabeth! I think you’ll love your new iPad and iPhone. I hope you can find some deals.
Thanks Ellen good presentation what a great idea you said I’ll try it straight away. Hope you are alright thanks very much Jed

This is just new in iOS 17. You can create your own sections. I’m not sure if you can turn it into a template.
Will we be able to choose a different notification sound for groceries lists?
You certainly can set different sounds but it would be for all your reminders.
Settings>Notifications>Reminders>Allow Notifications>On>Sounds. Choose the sound that you like in the next screen.
Can you explain the difference between using Reminders for appointments and the Calender Alerts.
Here’s my take: The calendar is for appointments (e.g. doctor visit on tueday at noon). Reminders is for your things to do list (e.g. buy milk, put out the trash, finish research project).
Thank you
You're welcome Kevin thanks for watching!
Is there any way to get back to my original reminders list

In the Portuguese IOS unfortunately there is no List Type features 😞
Sorry Paulo!😢
Are these features just on the ipad? I have a iphone 15 pro max and do not have them thanks
No they should work on the iPhone as well!
I followed along with you it does not give the option to sort the grocery list or early reminder notification@@EllensTipsForiOS
Tap the reminder itself and then (I) for information. That will let you setup early reminders.
Very clear and understandable
As with so very many other instructional videos, there is a recurring language crutch. I’m reluctant to point it out because it will become an ear wig. “GO AHEAD”
Thanks Glenn, I think 🤔 Not really sure about the rest of your comment 😂

Great job! Thanks for watching and sharing your tips!
My iPhone and iPad for some reason doesn’t have list type, it just has make into smart list.
Are you updated to iOS or iPadOS 17?
@@EllensTipsForiOS Yes just realised there is an update. Sorted now, many thanks 👍
I’m glad it was an easy fix. iOS and iPad OS 17 have some great new features.
I have avoided the reminders app long term because it doesn’t offer audible alarms when you need them (or it never used to)
Hi PopcornMike! Here some information on the reminders audible alarms it’s been there for awhile:

@@EllensTipsForiOS Thank you for your patience Ellen, I will set aside time to start again and learn from the bottom up!
