I’ve use Apple Notes and Apple Reminders for both home and work. I have pretty bad memory issues, so being able to make a reminder easily through Siri is great. There are literally days I will get reminders I don’t remember making, but really needed to know.
I’ve been trying to figure out how to use the list so I was thrilled to find your video. I’m using an iPad mini 6 with 17.4.1 version. I’m more lost than before. It seemed like you were stating your steps without showing us how you took the steps. I’m subscribed and your one on notes helped a lot. P.S. I’m 80 years old and am trying to learn my iPhone - iPad mini 6 and an apple watch 8 all that my daughter bought me so, as she says, get with it! Thanks
I think this is going to be a long comment. I hope you read it Brooke :) 1. You don't have any funny intros / Outros 2. You get straight to the point 3. You explained everything with screenshots and screen recordings (most people just say things and move on). 4. The way you explained was very clever, simple & easy to understand. 5. UA-cam recommended this channel to me and I watched this video first and immediately subscribed 😊 6. By far the best video on UA-cam when it comes to Apple Reminders tips/tricks. 7. I will now binge watch all your videos😂 Love & Support all the way from India 😊😅. I hope you grow to 100K subscribers soon and get your silver UA-cam play button 😊Good Luck! And please keep making such simple videos without any nonsense music and intros. Your style is unique :)
Thank you, Brooke! I tried the Apple Reminders app YEARS ago, but moved away from it to try other apps. I’m SO glad I came across your video! I use a different list app ( sharing our grocery list w fam ), but it looks like this would allow me to consolidate. I like seeing that you can link to notes, and that you can set it to remind you based on location. How many times have I needed to remember to do something or call someone as soon as I get home or get to work or a friends house … and as soon as I walk in the door and get distracted by our pet or a other people, Zooop! It’s gone! LOL. This could be super helpful. What a goldmine in terms of organizing, scheduling, and planning! Thanks again!
Oh my goodness! Why have I not known about you before?!!! I am a senior citizen with a very little bit of tech knowledge, but I am trainable. Thank you so much for this video. My memory isn’t what it used to be and this is so helpful! Bless your kind heart.❤️
I am a BIG fan and long-time user of Apple Reminders. I have watched dozens of videos on Reminders and yours is the absolute best I have seen for clear, concise and useful explanation of the app and its functions. Keep up the good work. I am also a big user of Notes and am about to go check out your video on that as well.
I do love the layout of things 3 a bit more but it’s not worth it. Reminders is indeed very capable and perfect for almost every job. I wish I could say the same for notes. It has still a long way to go to come near Bear or Craft
Hi Brook, great run down. I use the heck out of reminders. I work in corporate sales and I couldn't live without it. Also, linking a file to reminders can come in handy.
I use Notes, Reminders and Calendar on a regular basis and love them all! I love that they all sync to all my Apple devices. I’m not a power user, so they exceed all I need for my use cases.
Brooke, thanks so much for this clear and detailed tutorial about Apple Reminders. I do use this app all the time, but it was good to be “reminded” of all the things it can do. You gave me new info that I was not aware of. 😊 I appreciate that you talk slowly and use the little pointing hand to show each step! It helps to be able to grasp all that you are telling us. I have marked this as a “Favorites” in my UA-cam videos so I can refer back to it when necessary! Thanks again!❤
Great video!! Thank you. Regarding Reminder Groups. I made a Group, added Lists and Sub-reminders under those lists . Now I want to move one List with its Sub-Reminders from the group to become its own list not under that group. I figured it out. Save a template of the current list under the Group that you want to separate from the group. Then create a new list outside the group and use the saved template. It will create the new lists with all the sub tasks.
Apple Reminders is my choice for daily task management. I tried others but found Reminders and how integrates with other apps in the Apple echo system to work best for me. As an accountant and finance manager i deal with a lot of repetitive tasks as opposed to projects. Reminders is perfect for these types of activities. Although it’s ok for relatively simple projects. I use it in those cases as well.
I didn’t like using this app but with the updates I’m going back. Probably the best video I’ve seen so far that has simple explanations. Plus you can use a kanban format 😮
Awesome video! Over the years I’ve tried and used so many notes and reminders and calendar apps… And they all degrade, change or increase their cost and change to subscriptions, so I have been learning to get better at the apps Apple has, and it’s a treat to be using something as your main tool that is seamless with your iCloud and is reasonably private and also will not have any price surprises…
Thank you for explaining everything so well. I have been avoiding trying to learn Reminders. Hate change. Was stuck in a paper planner. Tried digital planner which I hate. This is working.
Came across your video. Nicely done. Good luck with the channel. I am still trying to figure out how to start one and about what! LOL. Love reminders, over calendar even.
Thank you for your content. A question. Do you take a training class on these tutorials, or do you just work with it until you’ve discovered all the benefits and applications. I get so frustrated trying to figure it out on my own. Again, great job, I’ll be following going forward.
I used to store lists on bits of paper. Reminders has simplifies things for me, and I don’t forget stuff like I used to. Reminders is a powerful app that also syncs across my devices. Nice demo on the iPad. I generally use my phone and Mac for reminders.
I used reminders for years for all my personal stuff and other apps for side work projects, reminders has steadily gotten better over the years and I now have just moved everything into reminders. I like everything in one place. 1 have 15 lists and it doesn’t feel cluttered or too much at all. This is obviously for me and other may like to keep personal in one app and work in another. I completely understand that and it actually makes more sense having things siloed but I like everything all together so I can see and easily switch between. I agree that notes should have its own reminders section another idea is to have a list in reminders called notes and go that route. But it’s still quite cumbersome to have to have a note to reminders to set a reminder.
Thanks Brooke. Like you I am into productive tools I have used a few, one being Things’. Like most software, things evolve and the Reminder app now does everything I need. Would like to see tighter integration between Apple Mail and reminders.
Hello, Apple reminders has a peculiar issue. One cannot re-order the tasks In the Tomorrow view or in fact on any later date, today itself, i.e. on the day before. Am I missing something and if not is there a workaround. Thanks!
I don’t think you covered the way I would love to use reminders. I put down a reminder for a task at 4:45 on Mondays. How do i get it to pop up on my screen to remind me …. So i don’t have to remember to go into reminders to see what I wanted to remember???
This us exactly my problem. I want to know HOW the reminder is delivered. I would really like to receive it by text because I’m not necessarily on my iPad at the time or place to look up reminders and if I can only get reminders by opening the app then I need a reminder to open the app too! 🤷♀️
Hi Brook, with your ideas as to adding sections in Reminders, and the Grocery idea, I have done a variation of it. Reminders, made a list for my grocery store isles, then I did sections for each area (seafood, meats, cheeses, and then each numbered isle: #1: SPICES, OILS, PICKLES, OLIVES: ; #2. And so on for every isle in the store. This allows me to make my grocery list by which isle has what etc. If you respond to me I will send you the a picture of the reminder. Yes, Apple’s grocery allocations is fine, but I like using my store’s isles. I had my grocery list in NOTES, by isle, but now I can put an item under the section of the isle and when I pick it up then it 9:32 just disappears. I hope I was not too confusing. Your fan, Roger of Orlando
I wish you would make a video about using apple calendar and apple reminder apps. That way when I have a calendar event I can use reminders to notify me.
@@taggs34 I understand what you are saying I just wish there was a way to have everything together. All of my daily appointments listed with those reminders of I have. Open up a program showing either the monthly view or daily view and see everything that I have to do.
Looks like a useful app for those who don't cross platforms. I use MacOS, Windows, Android and IOS so I'd only get reminded half the time!! Great video though, your presentation is excellent as always.
I have a question. I just bought an embroidery machine, I also have a flash drive that can fit into my tablet and the other end into the machine. I’ve tried to use my laptop to save pes files for my embroidery machine, but for some reason, I can’t seem to save it as a pes file, (even though it downloads as one). My laptop want to open them into explorer, and other areas that won’t work for my machine. Anyway, would it be possible to use my tablet instead? After you download the file, how to find it and how to drag it to the flash drive? I’m hoping this may just be a little bit easier.
Grocery list i prefer apple note. that sort automatically when we use checkbox. we have completed list and pending list after one shopping. in reminder, once we touch the checkbox, it vanishes, and we really confuse what we already bought.
I'm a bit confused because I did the update on macbook and on the iphone and still I don't have the wealth of items in the context menu as you. It looks very pared down in comparison. I'm on Sonoma. Maybe they removed some of the options? E.g I can only create subtasks by creating them as tasks, then dragging them on the iPhone onto another task.
Thanks for bringing this up! I just tried it on all my devices and this is what i found. iPad: no issues adding subtasks. iPhone: can only add subtasks when I’ve added a reminder to a list and press the ‘i’ button on the right of reminder. If i simply hit ‘new reminder’ then ‘details’ i dont see subtasks option. Mac: don’t see subtasks option at all. Thought maybe it was a bug but this article seems to support that on mac you can only do it by dragging or indenting: support.apple.com/en-ca/guide/reminders/remn32a9622b/mac
I moved from 3rd party apps for reminders to Apple. But I do wish a calendar month view option for quick date changes of dates on items in iOS and iPad OS. Right now it’s 1) press item you want date changed 2) press calendar icon, (options for today, tomorrow, this weekend, Date & Time) 3) press Date & Time 4) select date within calendar month view. Really wish the default was calendar month view from the first or second step.
Apple native app are the best because they work with each others and it's free. The only thing I don't like is both Calendars or Google calendar doesn't come with monthly view widget
My only big complaint with the app is that it does not allow you to indent/subtask reminders under ‘Scheduled and Today’ list, however, you can do it under ‘Reminders’. That’s a bit of double tasking.
Good review. For me it’s more like a task manager, not a reminders app. Too many clicks to quickly set date/time, which is a vital part of a reminder. When I want something to be reminded about, I usually want to specify when to be reminded. Siri solves this, anyway. And as usual, if you don’t have a mac, icloud web is the only solution for using it in front of your computer.
I learned a lot, thank you, but the app still is missing a birthday list. Oh, I have a list of birthdays, but it's generic. I can't put in a birth year so that I'm also reminded of the age of the birthday person.
hmm that’s interesting. for birthdays what i do is add it to the person’s contact (there’s a spot for it) and that adds it to my calendar. so i’ll see a calendar event and how old they’re turning.
I'm very disappointed because the two new features I saw in your video are not available on my ipad - I don't know why. In the 6th minute you showed, how we can create grocery list - it is not a possibility in hungarian language. The second, however, is not language-dependent: I cannot add a reminder to the note, as you showed at minute 12th, I can only share the given note for common use...
I’ve use Apple Notes and Apple Reminders for both home and work. I have pretty bad memory issues, so being able to make a reminder easily through Siri is great. There are literally days I will get reminders I don’t remember making, but really needed to know.

I moved from 3rd party apps for reminders to Apple. But I do wish a calendar month view option for quick date changes of dates on items in iOS and iPad OS. How do I send an email to Reminder so that I can create a Task?
Why would you need to send an email to Reminders? Just type in the task you need in the app. That’s the point of the app
I drop in emails so I can follow up. Great feature. It’s just drag and drop
My only big complaint with the app is that it does not allow you to indent/subtask reminders under ‘Scheduled and Today’ list, however, you can do it under ‘Reminders’. That’s a bit of double tasking.

Thanks!
Great video…lots of very useful information! I am trying to be more efficient and organized and I stumbled onto your tutorial right on time.
Great to hear!
@@brooketierney THANK YOU! I never gave the birthday field in my Contacts any thought and I'm so glad to hear this.
WoW 🎉🎉❤❤awesome 👍👍👍
Thanks 🤗
I'm very disappointed because the two new features I saw in your video are not available on my ipad - I don't know why. In the 6th minute you showed, how we can create grocery list - it is not a possibility in hungarian language.
The second, however, is not language-dependent: I cannot add a reminder to the note, as you showed at minute 12th, I can only share the given note for common use...
Brilliant. Thanks!
You're welcome!
Great video but please watch with the Siri examples, all my devices started up since you actually said the wake words. That can be very annoying.
Someone else mentioned this as well. Thank you! Rookie mistake and I will be more careful next time!
