I usually discover new music by going to as many shows as possible, and browsing old record stores. I discovered BM by randomly picking up an album because I liked the cover art.

Usually I use one of several things:
1.A random RYM list from a user I have similar tastes in.
    2. UA-cam channels such as Heavy Metal of the Eastern Bloc, Death Fetish, or NWOTHM Full Albums.
    3. Being bullied into listening an album on Discord
    4. When I was on FB, there was a group that would post last.fm collages of what they listened to from the previous week. That immensely helped my jmetal education

Personally I love discovering hidden gems, especially in record stores. I once found a raw black metal demo (Wolves Are Descending In Town by Voido Quontur) for a dollar in a record store that was connected to the label you mentioned, Tour de Garde, and aside from a metal archives page and a UA-cam channel with the songs there isnt much info about the band or demo itself. This other time I found an album called Unleashed by the band Edge Of Insanity (again for a dollar). I tried looking them up and couldn't find any info on the band at all. They have some early 2000s elements mixed with some Thrash and hardcore, and it one of my favorite hidden gems that I've found.

Going onto "esoteric" for a genre or year rather than "best" brings up way more hidden gems than you would think. It's how I discovered one of my new favourite metal albums, The Order Executors by Thunder Way, which is a heavy/power metal band from Albania. Also, if a record has interesting cover art, I click it without considering what genre, and I've discovered some brilliant gems that way.
Also, record stores can be amazing for discovering new stuff, especially those with super interesting and/or selections. Today, I bought an death/black metal EP that was in a record store called The Cursed Travails of the Demeter by a Dublin-based band called Vircolac, since the album cover looked interesting and kind of disturbing. Checked out a track on my phone while I was there, and loved it, and snagged it for £10 on vinyl. Also, a local record label called Dry Cough records, who almost always puts out killer sludge/doom/crust music, seems to supply their records to this store I frequent, which is amazing for me but not for my wallet lel

I try to keep up with everything from KEXP, Audiotree, to Stereogum and Mojo magazine, to Piero Scaruffi's album review index (found artists like Lida Husik and Solex through him), to all the albums talked about on some of my favorite UA-cam channels like Sea of Tranquility & The Music Hole. Another thing I do is check the CD section at my local record store, look for the disc I'm the least familiar with, and just buy it. Usually never disappointed with what I end up discovering.

I like discovering new music at concerts. You're basically getting a free demonstration of what they do because they happen to be on tour with the main headlining act you're coming out for. I've had some great impressions made in that moment where I'm saying "I gotta check their stuff out when I get home!" I made a whole countdown about this on my channel, but to give one example of a band I talk about in that video: when I went to see the Metal Alliance Tour in 2013, I was mainly going to see Anthrax headlining. They had Exodus, Municipal Waste, Shadows Fall (filling in for High on Fire on some select dates), and the one band I had not heard of on the bill, Holy Grail also on this tour. I ended up being quite impressed by Holy Grail's set and checked out the two albums they had out at the time when I got back to my dorm.

Me and my friend have this event wherein we each choose an album we love, and actually sync them up and listen to them together on the spot, in turns. One walks away having experienced new music, and one usually reports that that specific time they listened to it was the best one, however familiar with it they were beforehand. I highly recommend doing this with a friend if they're open enough and down to burn about an hour and a half.
    tl;dr have music friends

I'd argue, if you can't find new music then you're just not looking.
Similarly to the Metal Archives search option, you can also do the member search within discogs for specific bands, and bands they were involved with. It basically leads you down numerous rabbit holes. This same whittling approach will also work for labels.
You may find some interest in the French Shub Niggurath from the 80s.

How many albums do you all go through each week? As cliche as this may seem I mean this with good intent, there is simply too much music out there, diluting quality at the cost of originality. I'm in a fortunate place to be able to get through 50 weekly on a good week however, I've become more inclined to like fewer and often fast-forward and skip completely, mainly current stuff let alone the entire history of the past. As I'm writing this I'm close to completing all of Veyl's Bandcamp and I have appreciated Maenad Veyl's Body Count at the cost of enjoying everything else there, besides recently finishing all of Skee Mask's stuff. Why I've brought them up is I'm starting to trip into techno, industrial and electronic holes more without having much understanding and thus have been more patient. I guess I've been more confident with knowing when something works but it's good to be proven wrong and retry. That's the ultimate quality with art, in being able to revisit it for good reason.

So if we’re saying the average album length you are listening to is 45 minutes, you’re spending nearly 46 hours a week on listening to music? That’s more than a full time job. There is not enough time in the day for me to even come close to 50 albums a week if I want to get any sort of rest. @@NeroAngelo616 you’re trying to make a blanket statement I never made. I listen to music a lot and never said listening to music makes you unproductive. Spending nearly 50 hours a week on any hobby is borderline counterproductive. Many people would agree with that. I literally just listed out my average week. I can still afford to listen to music but you’d be hard pressed to spending MORE THAN A FULL TIME JOB only listening to music, having a life and also being able to operate as a normal person. Unless you’re working from home and listen to music while working or you’re allowed to listen to music at work (assuming you work 40 hours a week) I’d still barely be able to believe that you’re listening to music that whole time, and wouldn’t believe you if you were listening to music 8 plus hours a day. How are you unable to provide the slightest hint of how you’re able to spend that much time listening to music?
