Are those plates you have installed the DMT 4" diamond stones ? I just bought a set for your holder coming this week and I took a lot of scrolling to find the right ones.
Just ordered this and the brace support from your etsy store! I have the leatherman skeletool cx with the 154cm knife that I can't sharpen properly on the precision adjust because the clamp was too deep. It just couldn't properly hold on to the blade so every stroke of the diamond stone would cause it to move from its position. After finding your etsy store, I was overwhelmed with excitement knowing that I had finally found some products that fixed the very specific problem I've been having! So thank you man. Your ingenuity and skills are very much appreciated 👏
The design has had some slight updates. I have updated the top blade fence to make positioning and flipping the knife easier. Hopefully I will be able to make a new video soon.
So glad I found your video man. Your prices are excellent compared to some other stores that sell parts for the precision adjust. I’ll definitely order some Friday.
I absolutely love both of your inventions for the sharpening system. Im gonna buy both of them next week 100 percent for sure. I will let you know when I get them and how much I love them cause I know I will. Thank you very much.
I just received my magnet attachment today and it works pretty well. I would recommend printing thicker blade stops maybe twice as thick. Some blades have funny bevels on the top edge. The magnet seems to be strong enough to hold medium to small size blades. The magnetic force takes a little getting use to when actually stroking the diamonds across the blade. I like the idea of the painter's tape, but I was considering some double sided tape to catch the filings that the magnet attracts to the material the knife sits on. Instead of building up there, it could be removed with the double sided tape.
Hi Thank you for your good video, how long does this knife sharpener usually work? And after how long should it be replaced? Question 2: I do not have an electronic angle meter, and without using an electronic angle meter, how do we know what angle number to use for each type of knife, such as 15 degrees or 17 degrees or 20 degrees or 25 degrees or 30 degrees?
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by your first question. As for the angle gauge, it would be difficult to find the appropriate angle without one. I recommend getting one if you can,
@@Practical3DP Hi Thank you very much, my good friend, the meaning of the first question was, how long is the useful life of the diamond stones of this Work Sharp knife sharpener model?_
Hmm... the issue I see with that magnet setup is the centerline of the blade (spine to edge) isn't parallel with the angle gauge because of the hollow grind, so the actual grind angle is going to be steeper than what the gauge says. The OEM clamp would be more likely to hold it so those lines are parallel.
I have thicker knives such as the Ontario SP 8 . That are a .25 thick . Of course they won’t fit the work sharp clamp . My question is will this work for knives like the sp8?
I think a knife of that size is beyond the capabilities of the Worksharp PA in general. I’m not sure if there is enough stone throw to cover a 10” blade? I cannot say if it would work as I don’t have one like that to test. I designed this with EDC folding knives in mind. I think additional magnets would be required for a blade that size.
The magnet in mine works for small blades the size of carving knives, it doesn't hold larger bladed in place. Tired of messing with it to get it to work and it went into the trash today.
That blade doesn’t move with either. That’s not the point. This attachment isn’t meant to stop blade movement. It’s meant to use for blades that don’t fit well in the clamp or if you want lower angles.
What sharpening stones do you use? still fairly new to this and just got my precision adjust but want to get your upgrades and some really good stones so I can get some mirror edges (I know, not really practical but it’s what I want)
If u want a cheaper mirror edge i suggest buying 3m lapping film after u use ur ceramic ull get an incredible finish and there cheap and stick on ur ceramic stone
I found its better to just use light pressure and bypass the stabilizer add on. When you use the stabilizer it changes the angle quite a bit and you have to take it off and put it on so many times that it isn't worth it.
@@Practical3DP I never thought about doing it so it just touches (don't tighten past) so it doesn't move it up sounds like a good idea thanks for bringing something so obvious to my attention lol
Hey Seth, I just ordered your stone holder, and this magnetic knife holder. What width and thickness stones is the stone holder designed for? I'm looking at the DMT continuous diamond stone, at 4" x 7/8" x 3/16", and the DMT 4" for aligner stone, but I don't know it's width and thickness. I am looking forward to using your products. @@Practical3DP One more query, Seth. Will the design of your 4" - 6" stone holder accommodate the Spyderco 5" stones.....the 1/4" thick Double Stuff, and the 1/8" thick C303F & C303M? I'm having a hard time sourcing budget stones, here in Canada. Thanks!!

The thumb screw does not need to be larger. The size keeps people from applying too much torque. The surface of the top of the stone holder is actually flat. You can put the angle finder there if you want. It’s not magnetic though. Easier for me to use the rod.
You know I can appreciate all the ingenuity out there trying to make the Worksharp Precision Adjust more accurate. But at what point do you say you are polishing a turd?
