    I'm really pleased with this! It works like a charm ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ Takes less time than my old electric sharpener because it can take more off the knife faster, and then it smooths out nicely with the finer grit polisher. I don't know how long it will last before the grit wears away, but I wouldn't mind having to replace it every once in a while.

    Wow. Just discovered this video and it’s still amazing! Used your method to reprofile my Kershaw Cryo that I messed up on while learning to freehand sharpen on whetstone. Was able to slap on 100 grit aluminum oxide sandpaper and the adhesive worked fantastically. Thank you!
    Like you said, a little goes a long way, and you do have to wait a while for it to initially get tacky so your sandpaper doesn’t slide around. With the coarser grit, it’s helpful to start slow and use a pull stroke only. After the grit settles in, then it’s easier to go up and down to hog off material faster.

    I like your philosophy of getting good and even excellent results without spending a lot of money. I also like your technique of doing a little on each side and flipping the blade. I don't get the "raise a burr" then sand it off, then do that on the other side. If you have a blade in reasonable shape, the strikes me like a lot of unnecessary work and material removal. Lastly, I like your going with the direction of the blade as opposed to sawing back and forth across the blade. I get that you were doing that to preserve the sand paper, but that is my preferred method of sharpening.

      I would agree with some of the criticism I have read about the worksharp precision adjust on the lack of #grits. I bought on Amazon a package of 5 sheets of 10 grits ranging from 240 to 3000 for 15CDN$. I make 14 strips that fit the precision adjust ceramic stone with each sheet. So 70 strips for each grit. The adhesive works just like what you see in the video… almost endless stick & replace. So absolutely go for it. On top of it The bundle of sheets I bought are waterproof. With these I can do the back and forth movement that is not recommended in the video without detroying my paper strips.

    some steels are impossible to sharpen with aluminum oxide sharpeners and you need diamond plates to sharpen the carbide molecules or any other hard stuff in the steel, aluminum oxide is just polishing and rounding whenever i tried to freehand sharpening hard supersteels like 204p etc. whats your thoughts..

    • @Sweetknives
      @Sweetknives  3 роки тому

      Umm, I have not run into a single steel that Aluminum Oxide cannot sharpen. I will say that if you can afford Diamond lapping films, they make the process a little faster, but these films were developed by 3M to polish glass used in the optics industry to an ultra mirror edge. Even 3M recommends AO for anything basically, its just not as fast cutting as Diamonds. Pick a steel you want to see get a mirror edge and I will demonstrate.

    Great idea and even more respect for sharing with people . Simple as it may seem sometimes we stumble across things that work excellent and like to tell people and im glad u did . I was in the fence about this due to no aftermarket stones of higher grit to polish except for my rant below . Being a resourceful person has allowed me to modify pretty much anything I want . I’ve been doing my blades with a ceramic rod and can get them to close to mirror but it’s a lot of work and sore arms holding everything perfect . I’m done with it and the leather wheel strop works great but marks up the blade or takes finish off . Great for tools tho bros 👍👍

    How well does sandpaper cut super steels? I remember hearing that you need diamond to sharpen some of the high-end steel.

    Dumb question...If the ceramic stone is 1200 grit why are we doing 800? Wouldn't you want to go higher like 1500 and so on?

    Hi. I appreciated this video and went on Amazon prime to purchase the adhesive. They are all sold out. Do you have another option of an adhesive that would work? I really want to give this a try.

  • @Hungrybird474
    @Hungrybird474 2 роки тому

    I was wondering if they sold just another 3 sided stone of higher grits ? Nope . They want us to pay $70 for some more rods and 3 stones 😂😂. All I need is the damn stone for satisfaction with the product . Their marketing strategist needs my pro advice . Always , always provide more than just one option . Even if it’s not a three sided offer various stones and watch how they fly off the shelves and make this even more popular . They’re guaranteed lots of aftermarket stone sales and would make a killing if they give good Amazon prices compared to competition or even if a company came out with a three sided or one sided pieces that for this they’d make a killing .

    But does not the adhesive build up ?
    If you had go go back to the original it would have to be cleaned.
    How much of the grit is took off in cleaning ?
    Just questions.
    Think you can just buy other grit pieces to change out. Then no extra stuff.

    I was going to buy that sharpener for my swiss army knives but I was worried that the blade would be too small for the clamp, great video even though you are very close to rubbing the clamp there.. how do you find it for sak?

    Thank you so much. I bought this system the day it hit amazon. I love this system and have pretty much wore out the two diamond stones. This has taken about a hundred knives to do and they still work but it's taking an hour to get an edge on a cpm s30V blade when it was new I could do that in 10 minutes. Due to high demand I can not get replacement stones. This will buy me alot more time before replacement stones are needed what a godsend.Thank you sir.

    • @Sweetknives
      @Sweetknives  3 роки тому +3

      The harder steels like S30V do take more time, especially with the included 320 grit, you really need like 100 grit or less on the early stages with those types of blade steels.

    Worksharp only charges 8 dollars for the replacement stones, so if and when they come out with other options I don’t think they will be terribly unreasonable. Not to say I don’t appreciate the video. Very clever.

    With a little research you can find 3 M pressure sensitive abrasives (PSA) plastic backed . It comes in all grits in full sized sheets. I use cut strips with the ceramic Lansky stone.

      I have seen the PSA backed. The question is.... if you put this on the ceramic side can you take it off easily and reuse or is the ceramic side ruined after? It's actually cheaper with the PSA being you don't need to fork out 20 plus bucks for the adhesive.
