I'm really pleased with this! It works like a charm ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ Takes less time than my old electric sharpener because it can take more off the knife faster, and then it smooths out nicely with the finer grit polisher. I don't know how long it will last before the grit wears away, but I wouldn't mind having to replace it every once in a while.

subbed, cool advice. got the feathering disc adhesive and various grit sandpaper but then had two strokes in 2021 and loss total use of one hand and only partial use in that arm so my knives see minimal use/do not need sharpened any longer but good to know my eleven year old daughter and I have some things to experiment once hers get dulled or we tackle the cheap kitchen cutlery for her mom

I used to do this with the 3M Wet/Dry papers up to #2500, with my KME rig.
I'd use double-sided tape, taped to the backs of the included DMT diamond plates.

Great idea and even more respect for sharing with people . Simple as it may seem sometimes we stumble across things that work excellent and like to tell people and im glad u did . I was in the fence about this due to no aftermarket stones of higher grit to polish except for my rant below . Being a resourceful person has allowed me to modify pretty much anything I want . I’ve been doing my blades with a ceramic rod and can get them to close to mirror but it’s a lot of work and sore arms holding everything perfect . I’m done with it and the leather wheel strop works great but marks up the blade or takes finish off . Great for tools tho bros 👍👍

Thank you so much. I bought this system the day it hit amazon. I love this system and have pretty much wore out the two diamond stones. This has taken about a hundred knives to do and they still work but it's taking an hour to get an edge on a cpm s30V blade when it was new I could do that in 10 minutes. Due to high demand I can not get replacement stones. This will buy me alot more time before replacement stones are needed what a godsend.Thank you sir.

    • @Sweetknives
      @Sweetknives  3 роки тому +3

The harder steels like S30V do take more time, especially with the included 320 grit, you really need like 100 grit or less on the early stages with those types of blade steels.

I looked high and low for this 3m stuff and couldnt find it I got "Aleenes tack it over and over" its like 4 bucks for a 4 oz bottle and it works perfectly. Its also water soluble so even if you leave it on overnight you can just scrub it off. I literally just did my first 2 knives on this up to 10,000 grit and it works like a freaking charm I didnt even use any of the diamond grits because they seemed inconsistant with the sandpaper grits I got. Six bucks for 120-10000. so ten dollar investment for what would have cost hundreds. Great trick thank you so much!

After someone here mentioned double sided tape, I went ahead and got a roll of 3M Scotch Removable double sided tape commonly used for photos and pictures. It also works like a charm. The tape is wider than the stone and I had to trim it using a Xacto knife but it works almost exactly like your adhesive and for one-third of the cost. 👍🏻
I'm currently trying this system with my Maxamet PM3 and will see if I can put a mirrored edge there. Fingers crossed.

Wow. Just discovered this video and it’s still amazing! Used your method to reprofile my Kershaw Cryo that I messed up on while learning to freehand sharpen on whetstone. Was able to slap on 100 grit aluminum oxide sandpaper and the adhesive worked fantastically. Thank you!
Like you said, a little goes a long way, and you do have to wait a while for it to initially get tacky so your sandpaper doesn’t slide around. With the coarser grit, it’s helpful to start slow and use a pull stroke only. After the grit settles in, then it’s easier to go up and down to hog off material faster.

    great ideea!
i do something similar, i just put electrical duct tape at the egdes. i use the ceramic in combination with metal polishing compound. i only use 2000grit . im pleased with the results, for me is no need to go 1000 and 1500 before 2000 and then ceramic. my knifes are not so high end. just some cheaper Spyderco (prices in Europe are double then USA) and some multitools, Gerber, Skeletool CX, Surge. on Surge i only attempted to sharp with Worksharp. the recurve does not allow it.

After watching your video multiple times i have an idea about my spyderco triangle sharpener with the white ceramic stones and the paper and adhesive. Mainly with the coarser paper and very little pressure. Being careful I do believe it will work. Awesome video. In my opinion it is the best on UA-cam. I will probably buy this sharpener when they are available.

Awesome to hear you liked the video, hopefully it works for you on the Spyderco triangle sharpener too.

@@Sweetknives I really think it will work on the triangle stones as well if a person uses the right grit paper and doesn’t apply too much pressure. Use the weight of the knife for the amount of pressure. The worst part is buying the adhesive. $30.00. Like you say it will last forever.

I can’t seem to completely work the kinks out of using the belt grinder style work sharp. This is an affordable system as well. Same concept as some super expensive items. I think I’m sold on this product

The sharpener was in my Amazon cart and I was reading and watching people say they wish there were more stones available, but you just sold me. I'll be ordering the compound from your link too. Can't wait to cut those strips and get a mirror edge. BTW what degree angle were you sharpening at? I read that if you get low enough on a narrow knife the clamp will get in the way of the stones.

YEAH! THIS IS THE 3RD VIDEO I'VE SEEN ON THE WORKSHARP .this is The Best one yet ! Thanks for the Tips. I've spent alot of money on Lapping film. For my pricey! System. Your help is going to save me Money and give me a Better mirror finish! What about strop? That would make mirror edge even better!! NEW Subscriber

With the high lapping films above 3000, 6000 grit, or 6 micron you dont need to strop. Its personal preference but I have found with the ultra high lapping films you dont need to strop at all if you have your angle lined up right.

I just ordered one of these tristone guided sharpeners. How well does it work with just the original Three stones? I just want my knife sharp I don't care about polished Edge. Thank you in advance

Awesome review. I ordered one of these sharpeners and then cancelled it. I was going to get a KME for 5x the cost but a tube of that 3M adhesive and all the sandpaper grits I want and this sharpened will be perfect!

I just bought 3 spare Work Sharp stones. Same grits as the original 3 stones. They were only $7 bucks a piece. 3 for $21. Thats super affordable and a great price compared to the other top of the line sharpeners.

@@matthowell4623 The new stones come with double stick tape on the back of them. So if I had to guess they don't slide out, you probably have to pop them out and then restick the new ones with the double stick tape back in.
