Hey there, Chelsea here from Little Mountain Ranch, bringing you another slice of our homesteading life, filled with heart, hard decisions, and, of course, delicious homemade cooking. Today's vlog is a special one, where I not only share the journey of our lambs moving outside for the first time but also dive into making the homemade tuna lasagna that Dan swears is the best thing I've ever made.
We start off outside, in the fresh, open air of our ranch, where I take you along for a significant moment in our farming journey. Today, we're moving the lambs outside, embracing their first steps into a new world.
I open up about the future of our sheep here at Little Mountain Ranch. It’s a time for reflection, decision-making, and understanding the cycle of life and sustainability on our farm. This heart-to-heart is an important aspect of what homesteading is all about, and I'm eager to hear your thoughts and experiences in the comments below.
After our time with the sheep, I'll take you back into the warmth of our kitchen where magic happens. I’m going to show you how to make a homemade tuna lasagna that’s not just a meal; it’s a story layered with homemade noodles, a rich and a savory filling. Follow along as I reveal my process for crafting these noodles and layering flavors that transform simple ingredients into Dan’s declared "best thing ever made."
This vlog is a blend of our daily life, filled with the challenges and joys of homesteading, and the comfort of a meal that brings us together. Join me as I navigate the ins and outs of farm life, ponder over our sheep’s future, and indulge in the simple pleasure of homemade cooking.
Remember to hit that like button, subscribe, and ring the notification bell so you never miss out on our adventures. Let’s keep the conversation going in the comments - your support, advice, and stories mean the world to me.
Thanks for watching!

It made my day to see you bring out the Cooks Kitchen Bible I sent to you!!
I was hoping that you'd have fond memories exploring the pages again. ❤
( I'm the same gal who sent you Maudie's scraper😊)
You bring so much joy to all of us❤
I’m so happy you were watching and I apologize for not writing your name inside the cover! I’ve been trying to do that so I can thank people by name. I LOVE it so much.
That was so wonderful of you to send her a copy that you had 💕She really does brighten up our lives. Hugs and luv
It brought memories to me. My mom had that same cook book. I am sure it is where she got her swedish tea ring recipe. She made that every year for Christmas.
I adore you. Mostly because of your honesty about not liking to cook. I don’t either. But I’ve been doing it for 50 years. And quite well, not to toot my own horn. There is nothing like someone else cooking for me. And I’d literally eat anything that was served up. ❤️
Your kitchen looks soooo much brighter these days Chelsea, especially when the sun is shining. Your living room is gorgeous now too!!
The sheep 🐑 speaking makes me giggle every time you share them. They’re all so precious.
💖🐑🌷
Chelsea You do an outstanding job for someone who does not like to cook, comment from Your Husband says it all. When I have cooked for other People and received compliments, I have remembered those compliments for My entire Life. Thanx for sharing. 😃
Those sheep and babies are just so darn cute, what personalities!! Love it!
I have to say Dan & Yourself & Family property is stunning. Take care.
Great compliment! Itis the best when your efforts are appreciated! I am so glad you are giving the sheep another chance! Blessing!
The little lamb that was cavorting around was so adorable. The pasta looked amazing.
I love the sounds from your sheep and lambs ❤ Love your channel. Such a nice variety of activites shown 😊
I love how much you love and care for your animals.
I was really surprised when you said that cooking is not your favorite thing to do. I would think it was hard to video as well as cook so you do a great job and make it look so easy. I enjoy your channel so much!
Thank you for showing Maple!
My parents had Arabians, our stallion came from Spain . We had some difficult decisions at times with mares and foals . What looked fabulous on bloodlines we had not go well and had 2 still born foals when we said no more . We had Beefalo cross cows that had difficulty births and they were sold , the reality of farming isn’t alway good.
Spring can be such a joyful and busy time at the farm .
Thanks for sharing. Great to hear your sheep are all fine👍🌺👍🌺👍🌺
I’m positive it is far better than anything you could get in a restaurant. Tuna casserole is delicious food. Total comfort!!
My mother-in-law taught me to make noodles the same way. Right on the counter! I made them for chicken noodle soup tonight. The lambs are so cute!!
Thank you for the diversity of content in your videos. I love it all and never knew anything about sheep before but thanks to you now I do! Lovely videos highly entertaining and informative!
I'm on the lookout for the Cooks Kitchen Bible. I'm going to have to make the Tuna Lasagna now that it's been given the 2-thumbs up, 10-star Dantastic rating. 😄😄I enjoy it when you bring out those very old cookbooks (or recipes) and make something from time to time. The sheep and babies looked extremely happy being outside and all together. Great video.
That Tuna Lasagna is such a great idea. I never thought of changing out the meat layer with tuna. I will like this one as I love tuna. Yum!!
Thanks for the update on the Sheep. Each has their on sound, just like us. I love to hear them bleet, so cute. And the dogs are so fun to see too. I guess I lovw all of your barnyard family.😊
The baby lambs are so adorable. Sadly, I live in a neighborhood, so no Cupcake for me.... Years ago, when my oldest three were little, we had tuna casserole all the time. My youngest two were not as big of a fan so it has been years since we've had it. Definitely something to try again!
The little baby baaaahs are just the cutest thing ever 🐑
I love the new intro and I really loved the way you gave book title and page number. It reminded me of the PBS shows that I watched in my youth.
Loved how Fern was peeking through the fence in the background when you moved the sheep and lambs outside.
i live on the Gulf Coast of Louisiana, and this recipe is almost identical to Shrimp and Crab Meat Lasagna! Well, not homemade pasta, but the sauce. Very yummy, so I can see how your family would enjoy it!! Thank you for sharing the sheep and babies today! I love seeing them and listening to them. Thank you for another wonderful video.
My great grandmother always made tuna casserole when we came to visit when I was a little girl. It was so delicious. I can almost see her pulling it out of the oven in her kitchen 💕
I love it when the lambs jump around they make me happy it’s nice when u get good compliments about your cooking have a great day cheese and enjoy the sun
The sheep are so great. Glad the lambs are developing so well.
I laughed out loud because i did the same thing this morning to my eggs. They just rolled right off the counter. The recipe looks delicious. I have yet to make homemade pasta. i got a pasta attachment for Christmas . The lambs are so adorable .
eggs opting out of your recipe were the highlight of my day :D
Enjoyed that bit sad to hear cupcake is going I'm sure she thinks you're her mum. But business is business, she's just so cute. Your dinner looked amazing you are a very good cook. By the way I meant to tell you your living room looks gorgeous what a difference. Look after yourselves.
So happy that you're going to keep the sheep, I'm sure you will find it easier the next time. The tuna casserole looks delicious and very easy plus economical. Thank you for sharing
Why have I not tried this before I love tuna! I make a lasagna with pasta, white sauce flawored with curry and chicken, so yummy 👌
I’m sure it’s better than anything that can be gotten in a restaurant. It looked delicious.
Similar to what we called tuna noodle cassarole. Bread crumbs on top give it a little crunch.
I used to do a seafood white lasagna with shrimp and scallops plus artichoke hearts. It was a great party dish. Your tuna lasagna shows you don’t need to use canned soup to make an extraordinary tuna noodle casserole!
I have a recipe that is almost identical to yours, but it is for a tuna and elbow macaroni casserole. I do bake it with a topping of mozzarella and parmesan (and if I have bread or crackers crumbs). To my sauce I often add worchestershire sauce. It is a family favorite and I often take it for staff lunch days as well. I have been meaning to compliment you on your beautiful living room. I also chose sage to paint my kitchen and even after 3 years it never gets old.
That tuna lasagna reminds me of an elevated tuna casserole. Yum
Definitely tastes like that, but with that homemade pasta, oh. my. goodness!!
Oh my goodness! I love hearing ALL the sheep !
I ordered the mixer. Got a bosche since you said the one you use only ships to Canada. I cant wait to get it! Thanks for all you do. We are going to try to bake all of our bread. We are getting so tired of the store bought bread.
Cupcake is so cute. I could watch her all day and get nothing done
I saw someone make spinach lasagna, that looked really good, use beets too. Nothing like homemade pasta. I have tuna, I can make this.
Looking forward to following the sheep’s progress.
It is 68 degrees here in Minnesota today.
Friend of mine can’t do the onions either-wares goggles, she wares them when it’s cold out side too. Good point on the adjustmenting on the pasta maker👏🏻
I bought an electric can opener. I highly recommend it if you have any hand pain. I held off but then saw a physical therapist who advised I get one. Something along the lines of...save your hands for better things.
The lambs bleating when they see you ❤️
Hi Chelsea...so pleased to have a new recipe for tuna! I live in the Willamette Valley in Oregon...a newer tradition for Thanksgiving is to go to the beach with the family. Last Thanksgiving I was able to buy tuna off the boat for canning. Am anxious to try some with your recipe! Thank you! Also...as a kid my family raised sheep....l have no desire to raise them again but find that your videos are bringing back lovely memories from my childhood... especially the bottle feeding.😊
I remember tuna noodle casserole with wide egg noodles. Tuna isn’t my/my grandkids favorite so I don’t use much. Keep some in my prepper pantry though
That Cupcake is just so adorable. The sheep have definitely cozied up to you now
Chelsey, l'm so glad you're back. Want to crack up? Ok, a pecan dealer said this today. You pronounce pecan "pe kahn." Pecan is something my grandma kept next to her bed, so she didn't have to get up in the middle of the night. I though of you & busted a gut! Lol.
😂😂😂
I dont pre cook home made pasta for lasagna and it works just fine. A little less fuss is always nice.
Lasagna looked great I make this exact recipe but instead of tuna I use leftover ham cut up in cubes so good.🙂🇨🇦❤
I want to guess, the best thing ... The spatzle noodles? I'll come back to this after the video.
Southdowns is a great sheep breed. Good mothering instincts. Very few issues. Alfalfa a good choice.
We agree! Is a learning curve. Separated each groups as they all need and take different feed / nutrition needs. Romney is a very docile breed. And the two together made the great cross for market lambs.
YUM! That sounds so good! We are actually have tuna (with white sauce and peas) and homemade noodles tonight but that's a level up right there!
The cook book looks really neat. So I ordered one from Amazon. Thanks
Sheepishly Me is a good youtube vlog about sheep.
Thanks for leaving in the egg accident! Some of us need to know we're not the only ones
Loved your sheep update. The tuna lasagna looked great.
Thanks for sharing this with us! Ooo..I have to make that tuna dish now!!
Yeah Dan and Chelsea.
I love seeing the animals outside ❤
Homemade pasta! Yum!
The lasagna looks and sounds really good - and what a review! Lambs look good - although minerals may have been an issue and are important, I think it is more than likely just the way things went with the development. When I had sheep I would start the pregnant ewes on grain in the last trimester and feed until weaning at which time I would wean the ewes off the grain. You don't want to feed the grain during the development stages or lambs get too big. I never worried about putting the ewes into a single pen before lambing, but certainly did so as soon as they lambed - with limited pens it can be hard to know who should go in - as you know they can be tricky..lol. I also never left the ram with the ewes throughout the summer and only put back in come fall, so that I could know when lambing would be. But I also flushed them (start on grain) before breeding season too (there is a couple months there where no lambs on them and they empty so no grain). But there are also many ways of doing things too. Just thought I'd share my experiences while I had sheep for a short time. Good video! I smiled when I heard the plop, plop, plop! lol
Cupcake is more like a puppy from all of her adventures at the house lol 😂😂❤
i wish i had a farm i would take cupcake in a minute
Your new intro in great!
Thank you! ♥️
Chelsea,
Have you ever watched Sandy Brock’s channel (sheepishly me)? She is a sheep farmer & should be able to help you with your sheep.
I love your channel, you are so grounded & positive.
How fast they are growing!! Happy you are going to keep the sheep and try again. Oh my gosh when the eggs dropped and you laughed so hard that is how we should handle things like that but most people would take it like the world had come to an end. hugs :) That lasagna was a work of art. I am going to try that. And I'm thinking a salmon version to maybe Yummm. hugs
Fantastic video, as always! Thanks for sharing tidbits of your life & farm animals. The food looks so yummy! Blessings to all 🤗🇨🇦
Oh...those little lambs are so precious.😍😍 The tuna lasagna looks fantastic but my husband isn't crazy about tuna so I will just have to dream about it. Thanks for sharing your life. God's blessings........🥰🥰🥰
Hi, I love following your channel it makes me so happy.
I also like to mention that lasagna in any form makes amazing freezer meals. Just thought Dan would enjoy that after he mentioned in another video about having quick and easy meals in the freezer. ❤
Hi, if you have freeze dried spinach, just add 2-3 tbs of powder spinach (or other vegetable) to your flour then add the rest or the recipe for the pasta making. I usually adjust by adding a few drops of water if necessary. I found that it is even tastier than if done with cooked spinach and the colour of the pasta is wonderful. Bon appétit!
love the new introduction great job. those baby lambs I could listen and watch them all day
Love seeing the lambs and dogs. Tuna lasagna looks amazing! Val C
I'm so glad you've decided to keep your sheep and if you ship to the UK, I'd have Cupcake in a heartbeat😂 My dad gave me my first ever basics cook book back in 1987 when I left home and even though I don't need to use it anymore, I could never part with it, My dad has been gone for over 20 years, but I remember when he gave it to me and how invaluable it was to my 24 year old self just starting out. Another lovely and heartwarming video. Thanks Chelsea❤
Just wanted to say I absolutely love your new intros you’ve added. Nice touch.
Ouuuuuu that’s sounds so delicious, I am making that for supper tomorrow night, 🇨🇦🌷
Oh no, I think all of us Aunties in UA-camland bonded over the internet with Cupcake and will be sad to see her go!!! I'd love to have her, but 1/4 acre property is kinda small, I live in Alabama, and I have zero knowledge of farm animals (apart from all I've learned from watching your channel). Glad your giving the others a 2nd chance at your home!! Thank you for sharing all of this with us!! Baaa baaa, Cupcake!! (That means "Aunt Pam loves you" in Southern speak. 😊)
I love this so much! I’d like to keep her, too but can’t because I’m keeping her dad.
I was watching another Canadian UA-camr. He says "Pasta" just like you. Must be US vs Canadian thing.
Where did you get that round shaped pan you made the white sauce in? I love it. I want one too.❤❤❤
I love your videos and your cooking. What was the name of the cookbook because I want to try and find one? Also, did you post the recipe anywhere? The tuna lasagna looked delicious. Keep up your good work. You are so inspiring.
Looks amazing!!!!!!❤❤❤❤
I haven't watched the previous videos so maybe I don't have all the data but how old is the lamb? She looks pretty tiny to be off the bottle. We always wait till 6 weeks to 2 months but maybe that's just us dealing with Alberta winters - lol
As well we give our ewes a selenium shot 2 weeks before lambing. Prevents so many problems.
She’s on her mama. I just supplemented her for a few days while her mom recovered for toxaemia and built up her milk.
Somewhat similar to a family fav we make: roux with tuna & peas then served in a Pepperidge Farm puff pastry shells. Yum!
That recipe sounds delicious! I’ll have to give it a try! ❤️
I will be trying that lasagna!
I like the new opening of your videos!!
💕 Love !
Love the lambs. Love Ferm. Yes to the new can opener! Not a tuna fan.
The sheep want some of those treats you been giving them
I am going to try tuna lasagna for sure. Thanks
Awesome review! I bet the noodles had a big influence on this, too.
I have the same machine as you and if you fold the dough in half each time you put it through it will toward the end it will start to make a snap noise when it's ready to cut.
Are you offering lambs a creep area? So they can get on creep ration and not have mom bug them. We offer free choice loose mineral & salt. Sheep don’t really lick a block like cattle. Are you vacating ewes prior to lambing? So many factors come into play and we still learn new tricks and tasks everyday. 😊
Had my gallbladder removed last month and haven't been able to eat any fat or dairy so am "eating" vicariously through you😂. Love your sheep!!! And love your sweatshirt! Are you going to be selling them?
I do have them for sale on my website I’m the store.😊
Never heard of onion goggles.
❤
Sandy Brock Sheepishly Me is a great source for raising sheep. She is located in Hensall On and has a UA-cam Channel .
