I think people assume that Jenny had a good life. Remember she was also 14, walking the streets she had walked a thousand times before. In the beginning Ren says she was dragging her feet (foot dragger), and he stops briefly in front of graffiti that says Lick and says Can you Blame? And then, the “lady” freezes in high-heeled shoes when James was gonna “slice the rosy” off her cheeks. Ren is a modern day bard painting such vivid imagery with his storytelling that it pulls you in and forces you to keep watching - even when it gets physically uncomfortable during Violet’s Tale. And Ren uses this ability to shed light on far too real issues in the world. Ren is special. Anyway great reaction! Now you get to wait in eager anticipation with the rest of us, cause Ren has said that he and his cinematographer Sam have plans to film a pilot to pitch to Netflix when Ren has finished treatments in Canada. All we know is that it will be in the same raw style as this trilogy, but that is enough for me to say that if Netflix doesn’t give Ren his own show, they are fools 😂
As a suggestion i would make a Ren playlist, fantastic reaction 👍👍 as a suggestion....Ren and Sam Tompkins ..Earned it/mans world or Humble ft Eden Nash but to be honest anything you choose will be awesome and a must is his i million subscribers video he addresses the UA-cam reaction community.😊....Ren has another UA-cam channel called ren makes stuff.. I absolutely love that music it brings me back to living in Cali. Side note- do the videos hoe you want to, if you want to pause do it. Ppl who don't like are free to go somewhere else my friend just be you.
Thank you for being, i believe the 2nd reactor ive seen in over a year get that thetes a person sitting on the balcony in jennys tale. No one ever gets that but they always remark how awesome it would be seeing someones reaction tobthat scenario lol. Just look up in act 1 😊
Fine reaction. You’ll enjoy most anything Ren does. I suggest three of Ren’s work: Crutch, Animal Flow or Genesis. You’ll do the Money Game trilogy too, of course. Enjoy!
When you said domestic violence bothers u more that horror movies, I yelled at the screen "stop watching sweetie!", lol. I wanted to protect u from what was coming but u handled it like a pro! Greatly story, great reaction! Looking forward to whatever Ren u choose next 😊
Okay, I did not hear the intro in the last video and I LOVE it! 😅🫶 7:05 Disclaimer-I suck at waiting to comment until I’ve watched the entire thing. 😅 So, there was this amazing reactor to this song who was a therapist and I loved her analysis. She said that Screech showcases trauma and only knows how to express his needs in unusual ways and when those needs aren’t met, he has the trauma response of violence. And she also said, “Silence feels like a threat to those who are violent because then all that is left for them is their wound.” I think that explains why he became aggressive so quickly.
Yeah definately Chalk Outlines with Chinchilla next another step to discover Rens true versatility, then maybe some with Ren's band The Big Push they kill it for sure
You were following along very well until you questioned what the point of Violet's tale was. Very nice recovery from that detour once you caught on that she wasn’t dead yet. Every reactor catches the guitar rewind, but very few catch the fast forward after the beating. Don't beat yourself up about it... Screech will take care of it.
New subscriber and Ren fan here. I love your running commentary throughout the videos. The only thing I would suggest is to make your screen of the videos a little bigger as it is cutting off some of the content. Have a good one. ❤
If you are truly a fan of Halloween and all things horror related, the logical choice for your next reaction to Ren should be Children of the Moon. All I will give away is that he pays homage to the genre. On a side note, I believe it is also the first time that he and his friend/DP/co-director Samuel Perry-Falvey worked together. Hopefully the Renegades will up-vote this! Cheers.
Some takeaways on this trilogy, one theme is generational trauma. In Screech's tale, he opens with "the story it starts, just as it ends," then alludes back to Jenny's tale. But as he closes, he says, "the story it ends, just as it starts." To me, that encapsulates the cycle of violence. Violet, in her tale, comes to personify that very cycle. Instead of Ren having to spell out that cycle, Violet lives it. Childhood sexual abuse leaves her vulnerable to sexual violence and domestic abuse in the adult world. In Violet you see, in her traumatized self-silencing, the seeds of Jenny, who also freezes when cornered. Similarly, you can see in his grandfather (perhaps father?) and in Stevie, the seeds of Screech And we can't forget, in separating the twins and placing them in different homes, all the adults, and the state acting on behalf of those babies, all fail them miserably. The very circumstances that placed both 14 year-olds in a London alley in "2 zero one nine" make obvious that those placements in those homes, and allowing them to stay there or not intervening before they became runaways, or even since they became runaways, that fault lays.with society itself. At 14, as a child of the streets, Screech is a predator surviving by mugging people. His twin, on the other hand, is surviving on sex work or survival sex, dragging her tired feet home in high-heeled shoes. At age 14, the kind of home she is so desperate to return to, if only to sleep, that we are left only to imagine. Yet we know clearly, that if she wishes to escape, then surely, in at least one way, she feels trapped. We are tempted, especially as survivors viewing all this, to condemn Ren for acting out these brutal men as they terrorize women, but upon reflection we can't help but realize the social commentary he's performing. By the time he spits out his last "far from pretty," we realize he's crying out for a way to break this cycle that isn't as brutal as one member of the family line literally murdering and ending that family line. Yet we know either that family line, or the dysfunction fueling it, one of them must end for all this trauma to stop repeating itself. Like Jenny, we are frozen in denial, not wanting to see or think about any of it, wanting it all to end and needing to know how it will end. Because it must end. So, even as it seems to glorify violence, in the end it's holding a mirror to us, showing us the violence we create when we ignore social problems and allow them to fester. Sentencing so many, by accident of birth, to deep, structural poverty that must exist if we are to insist that some be afforded great wealth, that seems to be the deepest cry out/call out to end the violence by targeting its root causes.
I mean this kindly… if you talk and speculate while he’s playing you’ll sometimes miss the sense and have to post-produce with the “I missed…” There’s a lot to be said for listening then pausing then commenting. It gives time to absorb meaning and it allows a smoother experience for the viewer who will also be missing stuff because you’re talking..
Appreciate this feedback. I get this comment every video. I'll continue to do what feels natural to me as a music lover. I usually pause to talk when there's a lot going on lyrically.
Ren is amazing and appreciates the reaction community whether you have a few subscribers or a million. Each reactor brings his music forward. You are actually the first that I can recall that addressed the fact that Ren is looking right at the camera when Screech. Yes, Ren put the separate videos into one long video so people could view them at one time in the correct order. He took a hit on the original video counts when he did that for us. If I may make a suggestion with Ren videos, when you stop to talk about the video go back about 10 seconds before resuming. Ren packs a bunch into his songs and you can miss things if you just resume the video. You hit most of the points. Yes, Jenny and Screech are twins, therefore they are both 14 years old. You might wonder why Jenny did not come across as a girl to Screech (says Jenny was a lady which indicates an adult woman) and why was she walking the streets in high-heeled shoes late at night. However Ren meant the original age of Jenny when he wrote that song, with the Tale of Violet it speaks to generational violence and abuse. My suggestions, if you want something lighthearted, is Uninvited from the Sick Boi album. Otherwise Seven Sins is a good one.
Yeah, his work is *so* lyrically dense; so often there's no pause before he hurtles into the next part of the lyrics, and for however much stuff, there's not even a chorus or hook where you might be able to catch your breath and collect your desperately racing thoughts... And he almost never puts "filler" lyrics in; there's almost always important info in each line.
Hey man, I’m assuming the music at the beginning of your vids is your band. You should check out this band called Something Corporate, if you haven’t heard of them already, I think you’d dig them. For Ren’s stuff, you should check out a song called Patience which was featured in a documentary. I don’t see a ton of reactions on it, so it could be a nice stand out for you. Anyway, great reaction, really enjoying your channel. Keep up the good work.
You caught a lot. One thing that is harder to catch the farther from the original release of the first videos, is the line, "London City, far from pretty, 2-0-0-5." It's not so hard to figure out that is a year, but if you know that they were released back in 2019, then you might realize that Violet's Tale takes place 14 years prior to Jenny and Screech meeting. Also, every time he recites the "London City" line, he's angrier than the last until he's nearly spitting the words on the final recitation. My understanding is that he wrote the trilogy after coming across an article in the paper about a 14-year-old boy stabbing a woman and being shot by police and being upset that such a human tragedy was buried in the middle of the paper and not more prominent. Supposedly the line, "It's such a shame" is a quote from some official. He practiced the guitar parts until they were muscle memory so that when it came time to film each video he could concentrate on walking and singing and not worry about the playing.
Not sure of your age… your certainly younger than me but if you’re familiar with Warren G’s regulate.. I got sense in “the tale of Jenny” opens with a similar vibe both in cadence and even lyrically.. just curious on your thoughts ?! Great reaction!!
WITCHER? sorry but thats Gilligan Isaland or the tale of Moby Dick "sit right back as I tell you a tale" I think sticking with computers is your best course
The sections without lyrics are not free time for you to talk over. They're some of the best parts. You're missing out. :) Also, if you rewind a little, after pausing, you won't miss anything. :) You're missing so much by talking over it. If you have something worthwhile to say, pause it, with a rewind, then you won't miss so much. :)
I re-watched my reaction a few times while editing and I'm happy to say I didn't catch many things I missed on my initial reaction. You know what that means...? Deciding when to talk has little to no effect on my comprehension of the video. If I feel like I've missed something, I will rewind it. OBVIOUSLY. I'll continue to record my videos how I want. And there are many, many more but this is a start.
Harry Mack does a tribute to Ren and it's 🧠💥anyhoo hope that helps ✌️
❤❤❤DEFINITELY DO "LOSING IT FISCHER RETAKE" YOU GOTTA DO IT NEXT LOL BECAUSE HOW LOUD AND CLEAR YOU SAID HE'S LOSING IT!!!!!❤❤❤ HUGS from ND. Also is that your song in the intro? I absolutely love that music it brings me back to living in Cali. Side note- do the videos hoe you want to, if you want to pause do it. Ppl who don't like are free to go somewhere else my friend just be you.
Thank you for being, i believe the 2nd reactor ive seen in over a year get that thetes a person sitting on the balcony in jennys tale. No one ever gets that but they always remark how awesome it would be seeing someones reaction tobthat scenario lol. Just look up in act 1 😊
Next up should be "The Hunger"
This was too fun to watch! If you love Halloween, you gotta watch Ren's Children of the Moon!!
Fine reaction. You’ll enjoy most anything Ren does. I suggest three of Ren’s work: Crutch, Animal Flow or Genesis. You’ll do the Money Game trilogy too, of course. Enjoy!
I'm an American so I don't know but have seen posts that in the UK, John and Jane Doe are James and Jennifer.
Every time Ren has the guitar 🎸 it’s a one take and most of his videos are also , he plays numerous instruments , all genres and does his own beats
Luke and Leía - cool. Hadn’t heard it described like that before great reaction
7:05 Disclaimer-I suck at waiting to comment until I’ve watched the entire thing.
❤
Chalk Outlines ✌🇨🇦 My next suggestion after that is The Hunger.
Ren fan here and I subscribed. Sorry I was one who watched and didn't sub last ren reaction.
According to the internet, REN is 6’ 1” 😊
Confirmed via a Twitch stream. I asked and he answered! ❤
That means he would "look up" to me...literally😂
@@KidVisionReacts how tall are you??
@@francesdoll4039 Just 6' 2" lolol
@@KidVisionReacts I was honestly shook when he answered me. I thought he was like 5’8”. Lol
Money Game trilogy with 2 being the lyric version! Great reaction to the Tales of Jenny and Screech ❤
The first 2 are out already!
Yeah definately Chalk Outlines with Chinchilla next another step to discover Rens true versatility, then maybe some with Ren's band The Big Push they kill it for sure
Money game part 1,2 and 3❤
You were following along very well until you questioned what the point of Violet's tale was.
You make me so frustrated because of your ignorance of Ren's history and talents, but i'm having so much fun and pleasure watching your discoveries.
You caught it!
"The Hunger " does not disappoint
For a bit of funny horror vibe please try Rens CHILDREN OF THE MOON 🎉😅🎵🎶🔥🤌🙏✌️🐝🍀
I'd do Chalk Outlines next, then The BIg Push's "I Shot The Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip-Hop"
Don’t worry you are one of the many 100’s of people who has said “who’s violet” 🤣
You mean all of them, except a few not paying attention. 😂 T-shirt.."Who TF is Violet".
Cheers.
My vote is to take a walk on the lighter side of Ren with a song that also highlights his versatility. Love Music Part 1.
Love Music part 1 is a great suggestion! 👍
🔥
Similarly, you can see in his grandfather (perhaps father?) and in Stevie, the seeds of Screech
And we can't forget, in separating the twins and placing them in different homes, all the adults, and the state acting on behalf of those babies, all fail them miserably.
I usually pause to talk when there's a lot going on lyrically.
time for a fun ren song next!! :)
Ren got the idea for Jenny tale from a new paper he read about a 14 year old boy killing a young streetwalker with a knife
Money game 1-3
Nice. Subbed
I think you should do "Everybody drops" or "Heretic" next.
Yes it is, but I'm a solo artist! I will definitely take not of that💯
You caught a lot.
Such a clever way to depict the cycles of generational violence.
For sure you need to do the money game trilogy but maybe first do chalk outlines with Ren and Chinchilla then "how to be me" also Ren and chinchilla
Yor not the first to think violet was the girl friend new sub uk
Also: Go Sherry XD
💯😂
Sherry gets to go down in history as a part of a Trilogy reaction!
Pretty cool little badge, in a way.
in Screech tale when he make phone she busy because she with Patrick that why he never answer the door
Whee! :)
Attention span of a gnat! lol. :)
Ren is ewrythng 🪄🎼✨💯
🤘😊👍💙🇫🇮
at the start of Jenny tale Ren is beatboxing trumpet
Oh yes this trilogy left me broken for a while and it reminds me that dispite a rough upbringing people could have it worse then you.
The trilogy of Money Game.
I vote money game part 3
The sections without lyrics are not free time for you to talk over. They're some of the best parts. You're missing out. :)
Also, if you rewind a little, after pausing, you won't miss anything. :)
You're missing so much by talking over it. If you have something worthwhile to say, pause it, with a rewind, then you won't miss so much. :)
Time for money game trilogy
17:53 what was meant by THIS?! I'm so confused...he didn't FORGET the guitar, he just wasn't using at that moment.wth?! 🤷🏻♀️ lol.
Yeah it was a joke
He combined the videos into one because viewing out of order looses the effect
She had a scared feeling or divine intervention was her twin was close
