This song is about Jon's freedom. It's about doing what he loves and sinking back into the youthful wonder we can all relate to. The young AI version of him questioning where his love went for music. Where'd the love go? Where'd your light go? Such a beautiful sentiment for his first song back. Subscribe to see me react to the rest of the album's rollout!❤💯
Its also innately tied to his belief in Jesus Christ aka God because it refers to God as being back in controll of his life and soul as in he was born again through his renewed faith in God
Oh this song is leading into another song on his Album. He is teasing us man I am telling you. Can't wait for the full album to drop. He is just leaving us wanting more.
I would say it’s so common to feel underwhelmed at Jon’s songs on the first listen sometimes… but then overtime you realize how incredible the song is!!
It’s just human nature, the bts video was the first real new Jon content in over half a decade and nothing will ever compare to our feelings as fans from listening to and watching that for the first time. This song is still unbelievable, it’s everything we love from Jon and more. It just no matter what couldn’t have lived up to what our feelings were from the bts video
Re the lack of choir involvement - wouldn't surprise me if he did another outro for the album like Hand of God, could see the choir being more involved in that.
I think, if you have your expectations set right going into the song, it doesn't seem underwhelming. He says in the bts video that he's not having a whole choir section, and that he's using what they sang as sort of a texture for vocal layering (which you could hear in the last choruses). I also likened the part where it was just Jon on the piano to when he did the same thing with the bts video of Guillotine; it's just Jon playing with the basic idea of the song on the piano. I'm willing to bet we'll get an acoustic version of this song at some point because that piano arrangement was just too beautiful. I think this is the only downside to releasing the bts video BEFORE the song came out; people's expectations might have been set for something grand like Hand of God or Mah's Joint with insane string and choir arrangements. It kind of goes to show that a song that seems a bit more simplistic compared to his other work really does have a lot going into it.
THIS! You can def hear the choir low in the mix during the last chorus. This song was a perfect song to comeback with, people just set their expectations wrong.
I take the variations in each verse to be Jon just having fun "like a kid" on a beat and showing how versatile he is when it comes to inflections and vocals
Jon does this thing a lot where he brings in other instruments or people to sing to see if ideas work in a wider range or to just try things (i think guillotine is a good example of it), so idk if we'll ever see an acoustic version, but it's always interesting to see the ideas he has for a song and whether or not he makes changes or additions as he works through the idea
It puts things into perspective when you hear something incredible! You realize it is incredible but realize again it isn't up to what your original expectation is. Then we sit back and are like hmm wait this is my favorite song of the past year!!! That is what Jon does and I think Jon was just teasing us with a lot of extra stuff!
I get what you are saying on the one dimensional thing, but like you said previously in the video, I am positive this is just step one in his rollout and there will be more to the arrangement in the album similar to a hand of god experience. So pumped for JB3
I’m actually stoked that he used the choir as support here and didn’t showcase them because a "here comes the choir" moment doesn’t feel as genuine imo. That being said I agree the song could have been longer, would have loved to hear more of the strings we got in the behind the scenes.
I think there will be another version of Kid Again as the final song in the album with the choir. I was underwhelmed because I expected the choir but also more than satisfied cuz I loved the song.
Yes, I totally agree with you on the final thoughts. And I’ve seen some people on Reddit saying the same thing. When I first watched the making of I was convinced that it’s gonna be 6+ minutes. Something like Mah’s Joint. A bit underwhelming, for sure. But at the same time, it feels like that was kinda the point of the concept ‘Kid Again’. A kid doesn’t use special techniques to make a drawing of a human. A stick figure is enough if it gets the point across. This is totally gonna make more sense in context of the album. Also, the fact that he kept in the bits before the actual take it makes it feel.. real. Makes it feel human. Which is again, the point. He’s not pressed to make an impeccable song by a label. He’s him again
I feel like production-wise the song is a bit underwhelming by Jon's standards and especially after seeing that choir part in the "making of" - video, but the lyrics and the message is so much stronger in this, especially when he screams "wake up" and I imagine the young Jon Standing face to face with a Jon who's not making music, screaming "wake up!" and slapping him in the face. Overall I do think it was a little underwhelming but certainly had some parts where it stood out. Something I gotta remember for the future though is to never watch the teasers since the song doesn't slap as hard when it releases if I've already heard parts of it. I also don't think we're getting an autistic version since Jon playing the piano is just a way for him to get more inspiration, like he did with "Guillotine".
Yo such a great song regardless but I feel the exact same way as you. After having watched the behind the scenes I think I had a much different version of what the song would be built up in my head than what it was. For example like you said I imagined there being much more choir in there and then at the end I was so hoping he would have the segment where he sampled the violins and chopped it up on his beatpad to make that euphoric sounding strings sample.
It totally felt like he could’ve made it more reflective of the behind the scenes energy. Something about it felt empty but in the making of that shit had alllll the soul and edge of your seat vibe.
Idk what anyone else thinks, but I read people wondering where the choir was, and I personally think that the choir is the AI kid voice, almost like he input the entire choir audio into the filter so it would pump out one voice, thats why it sounds kinda strange and throaty, idk maybe I’m totally wrong
I put zero stock in all the conspiracy stuff …. But the fact this song , his first in 6 years , in my opinion the best piece of music I’ve heard in many years , is seeing no big reaction channels , zero media coverage, zero traction on socials , barely any views , tells me he’s right. They really are the monsters behind the scenes
And that’s no bash on you. But you’re the biggest person covering this song and you have 4K subs. Make it make sense when most massive music reactors have done all his music prior to this. Even vocal coach channels and producers cover his stuff. But not this ?
I feel like you explained it really well. I was so hyped after the bts video and it did feel a little underwhelming. Maybe I just need to listen to it a couple more times
The song in and of itself is incredible. The BTS was also incredible. They don’t have to be the same product. Just because you’re given more, doesn’t mean you should expect more

Can't wait for the acoustic arrangements for this song.
YUP
He posted an acoustic arrangement on his tik tok!!!
Oh this song is leading into another song on his Album. He is teasing us man I am telling you. Can't wait for the full album to drop. He is just leaving us wanting more.
I get the same vibe, that this is an album intro to set the tone. And as that, it’s incredible.
@@juggleboy720 Absolutely! Nothing about Jon is underwhelming. It just left me wanting more and I have this on repeat until the album drops
I've had the song on repeat all morning
I would say it’s so common to feel underwhelmed at Jon’s songs on the first listen sometimes… but then overtime you realize how incredible the song is!!

@@chadbrown1083 Exactly! You summarized that better than I did💯
I feel like all of Jon’s songs take time to grow on you. That final chorus is incredible with all the layers.
I am telling you. This is just the intro to his Album. It's not even a full song hahah you can tell by the way it ends
One of my favorite parts is when you can hear the rage he has when he says “took away the vibe!!”
After a full day of listening to this on repeat I still got multiple waves of goosebumps watching your reaction.
He did have a single in 2021 called I FEEL IT with Burna Boy, so thankfully Crop Circles was not his most recent single LOL
The first time I heard this song, I player it so much it became my number one song on repeat on my spotify...... The same day
That bit at 1:23 must be him talking as a producer to himself recording, as a reference to the past 6 years.
Morning to evening on repeat. Omg this somg out of this world
Re the lack of choir involvement - wouldn't surprise me if he did another outro for the album like Hand of God, could see the choir being more involved in that.
Been on repeat with this track since

I’m so psyched straight fire man!!! I’ve been a fan of him since that live performance during Covid. Happy to see him back at it again!!🎉
Yes I was expecting a little more based on the bts but same on repeat forever lol
Sucha wholesome review my man 👏🏽 this song is so damn good
Can really hear the Kanye inspiration at 4:50. A student of the game, master of his craft.

I Feel it was his newest single 👍🏼 great song
This wake up comes from way before when he added that "LEVANTATE" in the Jonas brothers songs.
And also it's on jon batistes worship
Remember that he mentions in the clips that he was just going to take snippets of the choir and even use some of the artifacts.
I get what you are saying on the one dimensional thing, but like you said previously in the video, I am positive this is just step one in his rollout and there will be more to the arrangement in the album similar to a hand of god experience. So pumped for JB3

Yeah i agree I wish he put the other stuff from the bts in the actual song, really would have made it seem like a journey
I think there will be another version of Kid Again as the final song in the album with the choir. I was underwhelmed because I expected the choir but also more than satisfied cuz I loved the song.
¡Me voló la cabeza!!
🥊💯🤯👨🏻🍳😎🫠👏🏻🫶🏻.
The song left me wanting more. I wish he had made the outro more somber. I really love his voice
The outro leads into another song

Same here, I was hoping for a bit more, only cause the bar was so high after the bts, still a dope song
:)
*I feel it was his last song in 2021
I like the song, but I feel like I would like it better if he didn’t tease over half of it through the website/other social media posts
Wym? He posted a 10 sec clip compared to a full 3 min song
@@markyymarkk ur forgetting a full 15 min “making of” video on the teaser website he created
