What's brilliant is that Jenny and Screech's tales were written after seeing a newspaper article, Violet's tale was written two years latter. Also how the kids followed their parents traits Jenny was quiet and just stood still like Violet and Screech was violent like his father.

Ren is the GOAT of the one take. The way he uses the hallways in Violet's Tale to add a haunting tone is genius. The man deserves an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a Tony. He's a one in a generation talent, like Hendrix.

The black gloves Ren wears at the beginning contribute to the cold feeling of the scene. And, to me, he especially seems like a troubadour when he directs his posture and voice upwards to the upper levels of the buildings (and whatever people might be inside).

I loved your reaction it was so genuine and heartfelt, I wanted to give you a hug 🤗 at the end lol! Ren is a master storyteller but sadly two kids separated at birth due to the mother dying and the father locked up for killing her is all too common. The real sad part for me is the kids were only 14, the song was written in 2019 in Violet’s tale it set in two zero zero five 2005 14yrs previous. The inference with Jenny walking that street is that she was a prostitute! This is why Screech would have known she had money “give me all your money bitch”. He would however never have known Jenny was his sister as they would have been separated into social care. It’s a brilliant if tragic story.
On a side note Ren was in school with my daughter, it’s been clear for a long time he would eventually get global recognition.

I doubt that anyone would say they 'enjoyed' Violets Tale, but virtually everyone would have complete admiration for the writing and performance. Ren showed Screech as inheriting his father Stevie's violent temper, while Jenny was the innocent one, like her mother... then to bring them together to violently close a lifetime circle not knowing who the other one was was pure genius...... It's a movie in waiting!

I am pretty sure that most of us that have watched this particular work by Ren have had some degree of that salty discharge either welling from our eyes or flowing, some I have even seen experience something similar emanate from their noses as well. The storytelling in this particular piece was absolutely mind-blowing and I am glad to see that it affected you as well, to me that is a sign of success getting that sort of emotional response. It is a tragic story, Jenny takes on the traits of her mum, cant speak stays frozen, Screech takes on the traits of his violent father, so much truth in this. Apparently based on a true story, Ren builds on it and provides a classic twist at the end. Ren did a live stream today with 5 of his most supportive reactors where he discusses actively placing that twist at the end to see how much he could shock. He does watch many of these reactions btw, and has been known to drop into the comments from time to time. Nice reaction, we did warn you.. 😎 That live stream is well worth a view and gives an insight into how humble and down to earth he is. It depends on what you mean by a true story. What is said to have happened is that Ren read a report about a 14 year old school boy who was stabbed to death.
From this tragic incident Ren built the three tales. It’s astonishing to me who people with beige minds and a lack of creativity themselves try to belittle REN’s ability by in effect saying this story was written for him.
Without a shadow of doubt it is a utterly brilliant body of work, creative, clever, ingenious etc… but crying at it is rather like crying when Bambi gets shot or at a Star Wars movie or Kenny Roger’s “ you chose a fine time to leave me Lucille”
It is a brilliant work of fiction performed by a master musician and song writer at the zenith of his abilities.

Thank you @KoalityReactions for a brave and honest reaction to The Tale of Jenny and Screech!
There are only a few Ren songs that in hindsight look like they're made to devastate reactors. Still quite a few deep ones are out that don't do that. And then, there are many that just celebrate art and music. So here's my suggestion: Ren & Sam Tompkins - Blind Eyed Ft. Angry Car Park Attendant ...there are many versions of Blind Eyed, and while the song is about Depression, Ren & Sam have done it song for something like a decade over and over, and in many versions has become sort of a somewhat light-headed party on a sad subject. This version is just hilarious.

It's tragic, and it's sad, and Ren's a brillilant storyteller - but I think part of why this trilogy hits *so* damn hard, for so many of us, is deep down we know *this shit happens*. It's real. And so many of us kind of want to not-think-about-it. Part of Ren's brilliance is his ability to "pinch our eyelids and fold them up", and pull us up short about our own...complacency?

I swear to gawd when Jenny is walking down that dark street, Ren hears her footsteps, feels the bitter cold in her bones, the fear that keeps her still. When he's wailing in the dark, he feels the confusion and anger in Screech, the hopelessness when he can't find a place or a friend to comfort him. When Ren is looking at the bed in Violet's Tale, he sees her. As real as I see Ren sitting there. When he looks over to where the monitors would be, I swear he hears the beeps, and sees the irratic trail of a weak heartbeat moving across the tiny screen. He sells it so well. Absolutely brilliant storytelling.

Thank you for your genuine, heartfelt reaction and your thoughtful analysis/commentary. This trilogy is another example of Ren's genius and a master's class in storytelling; he truly is a modern-day bard. I heard it likened to a Shakespearean tragedy many times. Ren created a backstory on the characters involved on Instagram, hinting that Patrick wasn't home because he was with Screech's girlfriend when Screech called her. This is a masterpiece of a tragedy. I would also recommend you check out Ren's collaborations with Chinchilla, "Chalk Outlines," "How to Be Me," and their busking sessions in Brighton. As for "Chalk Outlines," it is one of my favorite songs right now; it is beautiful yet sad and really showcases Ren's beautiful singing voice.

Not sure how much of Ren you've seen, but ... There's something for everyone.
I'd suggest watching him and his band, The Big Push, covering "I Shot the Sherriff" (the one where Ren is wearing red suspenders in the thumb nail), for a more up-beat tune, or when they sing War Pigs.
"Genesis" is an epic rap song (entirely self produced), "Chalk Outlines" ft Chinchilla is a hell of a song to really showcase Ren's signing ability, as is "How To Be Me" ft Chinchilla (do the live one, and be prepared to cry lol), "Fire" is an homage to early 2000's rock and roll, Ren and Sam Tompkins "It's a Man's World / Falling" mash up is just epic on all fronts, "Bittersweet Symphony Retake" is an expression of working class British culture, "Suicide" is devoted to his friend. Joe, who took his own life many years ago (Ren's entire "Freckled Angels" is devoted to Joe, as is "How to Be Me").
Pick any of these, and you just cannot go wrong with having some kind of fun or reaction to Ren.

That was such a genuine reaction. "I didn't like Violet's Tale..." and then going into breaking down the lyrics of it. It sounds so morbid to even comment but the fact that it hit you the same way it hit "us" who watched it for the first time where we had to choke down emotions while trying to understand what a musician he is at the same time was great. I mean that in the best way. I felt demolished as well. That's the power of Ren, he makes you feel and it's for sure not always comfortable. Unbelievable storyteller

For a much more uplifting message from Ren I highly recommend the video for It's Alright. I haven't seen anyone react to it as of yet but it's definitely my favorite piece he's done so far. The Love Music series is also very upbeat and fun. And for an entertaining little throw back vibe What You Want is great! Great reaction and can't wait to see what you choose to do next! 😊

New to the channel. New sub. If you haven't heard him busking, esp w The Big Push, please do. He is absolutely tearing apart the industry with being an independent artist who claimed #1 on the UK charts while dealing with all the things... we bitch and moan about mental health every time there is a damn violent event but then don't want to talk about it. F it. He is going good work. BUT... don't neglect his playful side. I shot the sheriff... war pigs... and englishman in new york.. .his collabs with chinchilla... this man is SO grateful for reactors and has a life energy vibe that is fresh... he is just willing to also address what normally get packaged away and slid into closets or basements. Easily one of the most significant artists in my life. Truth.

Im glad youre doing this one as your second Ren. At least thats all i seen one your playlist. I did the same thing when i firat heard ren in February. It just seems right.Maybe its because hi ren and the tales are his most theatrical pieces. I sont know but a lot of peple seem ro go this route. I promise you will find it hard not to love everything he does tho. In every genre known to man basically. You will find that there is a heavy ska/ reggae feel to a lot of his music but there is just so much. After this your gonna be flooded with requests and you'll probably have a hard time deciding but that part of the fun of it. The discovery. Have fun and welcome to the renegades

Welcome to the Rabbit-Hole. Violet's Tale was especially difficult for me because a) that close-shot on Ren's eyes freaked me out because I've had someone force me to be that close to their face, in a punitive way, so that started my anxiety reaction, and b) then the following description of Stevie beating her was that much more real in my head, and I had to pause the video and relax for a while to get myself out of the full-blown panic attack. Props to the artistry, that it can cause that sort of reaction. Luckily, I'm able to remove myself from the song, now that I've listened to it a billion times.

Outstanding reaction to this heart-wrenching story. I wanted to sed a hug your way because I was tearing up as well. Ren makes the age-old human experience of violence and domestic abuse get REAL.... even for those who may not have experienced it directly. Ren is a consummate artist. And YOU are a really good reactor! I first saw you with "Hi Ren," and liked subscribed then. This is the first evening I have ventured beyond. I was actually a little nervous. I listened to the thing with his antagonist (King Dotta), but that wasn't a deep dive into humanity. This was. Anyway... you're great! You are one of the few that are really good at connecting with people on a platform that is often impersonal. Keep doing your thing!

It can be a lot. I'm not a reactor, but I certainly had a reaction worth noting when I first saw these videos. I was angry, and I was confused about the cycle repeating itself. But, there is so many layers to explore. The best part of Ren is that there are no right or wrong answers. He leaves room for us to see it as we think it is. That is an artist! As a teacher, I've used this and "Hi Ren" as teaching tools. I will continue using these despite teaching in a very religious school as an atheist. I'd love to delve deeper, but this is neither the time, or the place. Great reaction, and much love all around!

It's a very tragic tale that makes awareness to what is happening all around us even if behind closed doors or people turn a blind eye to it domestic abuse and crime on the streets is real. Ren did base it on a true article he read then added his twist to it ❤✌️ take care hopefully you'll do more Ren he's making his way up as an independant artist 😊

@@philiptaylor6911oh I’ve heard them mentioned many times, but only in the context of the first jacket being ‘cool’ and the second being uncool (apparently sports jackets are divisive! As a none American, I had no clue) and that the hospital gown echos Hi Ren - the number of times I’ve heard comments like those, must be similar to how many comments on Chinchilla’s long nails ;)
But yes, first time hearing someone see it as a ‘costume’ portraying the protagonist of each tale. That was a cool new idea.
I think it was the first time hearing someone refer to the back alley and the little car park area they were shot in as “sets” ;)

What a lot of people miss, is that at the beginning of Violet's tale, he's not only wearing a hospital gown like Violet would, he's sitting with the knees up -- the position of women giving birth. Hardly anyone sees it the first time.

      @themart7767 8 місяців тому

It almost felt more like a very dark story with some musical accompaniment rather than what I'd normally classify as a song. It was certainly very powerful, but not at all what I was expecting. The music was quite bare and stripped back at times, but that was very effective at getting the message across. I liked the use of stops and silence, and the stark contrasts in the voice with the character changes.
I also got the same type of bardcore/medieval vibes as you with the guitar sound at times, and that is actually quite fascinating in terms of how it sounded and what sort of story that was chosen to be paired with.

    • @KoalityReactions
