Hello - I came over here on 45 rpm audiophile's recommendation. This is really great - I never heard of a lot of these artists. Thank you for all the love and attention that you put into making this video. I can only imagine that it took a lot of time especially to pick out which parts of such amazing albums to play.

_Extraordinary selection!_ Merci beaucoup.

Really glad you’re finding stuff to your liking here, and hope there’ll be more. I almost always forget to include Autechre, even when they deserve it, because they’re so close to me it almost feels indecent, I cannot claim as much critical distance with them as with anything else. They are my very first musical obsession, and still are amongst the top 3, even 28 years later.

Well, this isn’t a video meant to showcase the sound quality of those records, but the exceptional or challenging music contained. It’s mostly on the avant-garde side of things, but not exclusively. You know better if that might be of interest to you 😉

thanks for adding the discogs list-- it will help digest this over time as it deserves. i picked up the woods a while back, need to spend more time with it-- Lee on the cello stood out. the bellows is beautiful, just ordered. the watson i've spun a few times-- love it by itself or playing concurrently with other records.

This is a great list. The Gabor Lazar track you played (Excite) might have been the highlight 2020. I also loved Faten Kanaan's Mythology of Circles. It's so weird ... some of the tracks almost sound medieval to my ears. I kind of wish the Halfie was an ep instead of an album. It's got blissful moments in the beginning, but I find the energy lags towards the end. I'm really curious to see what Anushka Chkheidze comes up with next. There were also some great electronic releases in 2019. I'd put Mikron's Severerance album and Juneunit's debut on that list. Lastly, you're totally correct on the Autechre hip hop comment: They always mention Mantronix in interviews when citing musical influences.

    • @StuntrockConfusion
      @StuntrockConfusion  3 роки тому

I’m 100% with you on Halfie. I only think the good is great, and deserves the attention. I also find the same qualities you do in Faten’s album. And yes Gabor killed it there, post club wise! So far 2021 is looking very good as well, but very different.

Hallo stunty what an awsome Stack of goodies for the year 2020.even i Was a little shocked when you mentioned that you have listened to thousands of New records in this year and how can you manage these amount.this year of pandemic i would say changed a lot for myself because i only dig for records in the wild and i refuse to Do Onlineshopping. While the times of lockdown it was sometimes quiet difficult to enter recordshops.the shopowners didnt order that much New stuff. So it stayed for only 2 records for me this time, Bob Dylan rough and rowdyways ,and the orb abolition of the royal familia.
The ones you showed wich i liked most
Wasthe Vatikan shadow,Utopia strong with a Genius Steve Davis, drew mcdowell ,Danny hyde with electric sweeper, matsumoto, and of course the hilary woods Album.i need to check Out these and probably once will find them.

Bodi, I believe that if you nowadays want to keep track of the less obvious releases and brand new artists, if you wish to get those on wax, there’s no way around online. You might think that is unfortunate, but I think that if not for online shopping, the majority of those releases wouldn’t be available around you locally anyways. So I consider it a plus, rather than regression. Local record stores make a living with second hand releases anyways.

@@StuntrockConfusion yeah thanks for your reply and i really understand your Point of view on it.lets discuss why i am different.as i told already that iam a little bit older and socialized in record buying in the seventies and eighties in my Town there were plenty recordshops in the neighbour cities same same never it happened any shortage of records you could buy whatever Album you were looking for.maybe in middle of the eighties the record industry started a big propaganda to sell CDs and slowly but surly more and more records disappeard and replaced by CD in the Shops.at beginning of the nineties i travelled india and asia specially phillipines Malaysia and Indonesia. Being away for a year work for a year at home and travelling again and so on again till1997 i was⁰ coming home permanent. But the times had changed for example Telephon cell disappeard and everbody runs with their mobile phones in the Hand.but you may still remember my list of the nineties records i bought than and showed to you.well since than many recordshops were gone tooand luckely for me Cargo records Opened in my street and i probably became a Kind of number one customer.
Since my very early record buying Habitus for me always stand clear the route is the goal ,when you enter the Shop you never knows.the result it gives me more Kicks when i later have bring the ones i found in the wild and spin on my turntable.for me its too easy to get every record via Internet.maybe betting with someone for weeks and days just abouta piece of plastic. For me its the same if i want to find a woman via Internet i say no i like the route is the goal.do and go Out and meet and this is more satisfying.
When it become back to normality there will b plenty fleamarkets record fairs Yard sales around my Area.i can not complain about the quality and quantity of that i can find in the wild for example the vizöntö lp just for 5 euro or the flavien Berger because of you i have found.in the wild and so on.sometimes i feel that records needed their time until we can meet eachother and then fully enjoy every moment but this can als the other way round that i am Not yet ready to explore.also sometimes i See records they have quite worth lots of money i just leave them if i dont like them other fortuneseeker can more enjoy.i dont want to spend my time by Selling.records online. I want to relax my.live and Listen music as much i can.stunty you know what?i am 45 RPM audiophile Michael neighbour he just lives around 30 km from my Place and iam every saturday in his City Düsseldorf helping an 85 year old friendto sell records in a markethallfleamarket .records for Not more then 5 Euro and i do it just for pleasure without Payment and specially for the ones who dont have that much money and cant afford Originals to get like zappa Beatles led Zeppelin and Lots of mainstream stuff.this fleamarked is almost non commercial and the Money my friend Bernhard earns he direct reinvest in buying used records again so every saturday he brings about 150 second Hand .this keeps the old man busy and Structured to do Something with his live after pensioned, even he Not collecting records.
Btw this year 2021i managed to buy 3 New records.

      Daniel lanois heavy Sun

I was going to ask for an entire list of the records but now I see the Discogs link. Was going to ask if you ever compile your favorite reissue / archival and now I see that you are planning that. You got it covered. And now I am attached to your Discogs profile look out! So many of these are new to me for sure. I remember you showing Duma before and that was pretty incredible. I did listen to Hilary Woods when it came out but that was at the forefront of the pandemic so it got lost for me ultimately. I will probably order a copy of that from our distributor, it is so good. I believe HHY & The Kampala Unit was from Uganda you said? That was very nice. Faten Kanaan also piqued my interest, Bellows as well. All very interesting and much of it I don't look into. Staying on top of new music is a challenge always. Thanks for helping there.

@@paulspanbauer4125 I’ll check the ones I don’t know, or don’t remember. Atkinson did underwhelm me, though. I find it a little too surface, great sense of aesthetics, but I don’t really thing there’s a strong reason for this to be. Her label tends to be ace, though.

I was moving a couple of weeks ago, so there is actually less money for music.
But I like your taste of music!

      you are very welcome!
I like music lovers who listen to very different kinds of music. There´s so much to discover in the world of sounds, so many talented artist outside there, so many ideas, to much for one life and life is to short for bad music.
I´d listen (and now while I´m writing) to Hilary Woods. Very, very good album. I had "Through the dark, love" the whole day in my head - very catchy. So thanks for your list and recommendations.
The only other vinyl I own of your list is Drew McDowell "Agalma". His best solo album so far.
And the Autechre "Sign" (the first one). Its a must have.
