Being an old guy, I put ape hangers on my road bike and thought BMX bars would be good on my mountain bike, so I did that too. The reason for doing so was because riding upright was more comfortable and less painful. Got the idea from looking at the Dutch style bike (they really don't make adult size sting ray bikes unless you make your own).
Nice one Sam, I’m 54 now and old skool BMXer from the early 80s. Spent my days in Gillingham and Romford skateboard park. I’ve been watching your UA-cam channel now for some time and it always puts a smile on my face. Keep on making the memories they do last forever. This takes me back to those 70s skatepark days on my Redline BMX
BMTB? The thing I love most about Sam is his never ceasing drive to keep pushing, learning and creating with his riding. Curiosity and always finding new joy in the simple pleasure of riding a bicycle. Love from Durban, South Africa 🇿🇦✌🏼
How rough do you ride on those bars? I’m looking at getting the exact bars and they have them rated as a 6 which means up to like 50cm jumps or something along those lines… should be more than enough for me but I also see all these two-piece bars and wonder if the one-piece Ergotec is lacking in structural integrity? Thanks.
Hah… I’ve now started finishing Sam’s sentences. The opener… “Oh my Gawd, it’s actually”… then I said “the dream”…. Can’t get enough of this guy’s enthusiasm for life and living it. Keep shredding dude. For a lot of us….It’s a much bigger deal than just watching a man-kid have bicycle fun.
I like trying different types of bikes with tall bmx bars. If I wasn’t 6’3” I probably wouldn’t. But I had 2 bike accidents in 2011 & 2012 ( than flew over my bars In 2017 or 18. But wasn’t as bad as the others but felt like mentioning since it was more recent). So due to the older 2 accidents I have : shoulder , neck , Back and leg problems due to the accidents. And it for me really helps to use big bmx bars and a good seat. Than I can get a good up right seated posture. But I do enjoy other bars. Just depends on my back And neck. Being upright obviously feels the best. So I’m not surprised you liked it right away haha.
Every time he comes up with one of the those ideas I go "what? I'd never go near that thing", and then I enjoy watching the crazy stuff done on it. But this time is what I believe to be the first time I really want to try those thing. It honestly looks really fun to ride.
I did this last year too my clunker I built . Then again to my sons 24 inch MTB. I got the idea after see a SE fat ripper. Definitely a comfortable setup
Dude. I can’t get enough of you videos. You always make me want to shred. Watching you made me get a allmtn 2.0 and it’s my favorite bike I’ve ever owned. Love your grips also, just ordered another pair. It was great seeing you over here in the USA you were in my state. Ny Thanks again. You the man..
yeah.. 97 giant sedona with the riockshox indy.. the stem and some fairly low and wide bars. I'm loving it.. It required housings and brake service anyhow so I did the big BMX with some Billy Bonkers 26 2.2 I'm loving it
I've had a Kona humu humu nuku nuku ap'u'a deluxe that I put marzocchi forks on for the past ten years and is still the comfiest bike I've ever ridden! Wouldn't jump it though! Love watching this madness! X
I did this to my norco storm 29 with 4 inch rise bars and its so much more comfotable amd enjoyable cruising through pine Forrest trails. Idk why this isn't the standard for the people who aren't racing.
The bolt upright-ness reminded me of the start of 'pretty in pink' the film, you look like molly Ringwold, u needed to ride across a bowling green while the grey army are playin, shoutin "up ya bum" 😂
I actually did that with a straight face back around the turn of the century. My first DH bike was a 22" Santa Cruz Heckler with an OG Z1 Bomber on. When that frame cracked, I replaced it with an 18" front end and added some 7" rise BMX "Cruiser." bars. It was a bit smaller and more flickable than yours being 26" and a smaller frame and was, as they say, "The Dream." Eventually the Super 8 came out and I switched to that.
I love how even a rainy day turned into an "epic" one! (Y) lucky for us Lewi sucked at pool! 😂 Def like to see this happen again at some point.. what about fitting the bars to an eeb / freeb or even that petrol mountain bike..?! 😂 (Y) (Y)
I had a mate back in the 80s ..lol..anyway he had this massive bmx fat tyres chrome molly frame must of weighed half a ton ..yeah your beast reminded me of it ..love your fear factor ..I enjoyed this ...cracked me up ....

Should put those bars on a dh rig 😂
Or on a dirt bike
Hi deluxe I watch you vids
Love the new bicycle category; it was honor to witness this historic event. The flip was awesome 👏
MTBMX
Sam. Here an idea! Weld a car seat to a seat pole and fit it to your bike with the steering wheel👍 now that would be sick🤣
Shits gona be heavy! 😳
OMG yes!
@@JubbLaRacing he’s gonna use the ebike anyway
@@JubbLaRacing yeah get it on the eeeeebb🤣

bmx means bicycle motocross, mtb means moutain bike... so bmtb would be bicycle moutain bike lol
@@natandirtmtbmx
@@makncheese6836 Yea that would make sense :)
This is why I love Sam's ideas! So unique yet he still pulls off insane tricks no matter what!🔥😂
Glad you liked it!! 🤙
@@SamPilgrim No worries. I just sent you a DM on Instagram. Please let me know what you think.
True. Yet after like every possible bike mod he still finds something new!
@@pauldirac1367 Yeah exactly!!
Hello Sam could you tell me the location of that pump track been watching your channel absolutely cracks me up with the things you get up to 🤘🤙
“With the rain falling like the roost of a smashed berm” pure poetry
😂👍
I’ve done this to my ‘96 Giant. Now it fits and rides perfectly. BMX bars on mtbs is the future I tell eee…
Always a great time with the Pilgs
0:56 I felt Lewi's pain in my soul 😆
A while ago on my enduro I changed the flat bar with an Ergotec riser 70. It is really comfortable and feels way better on steeps! 😁👍
I ordered a pair of 90mm risers a while back to try out. Might work might not 🤣
If anything this video seems like a huge endorsement for high rise bars.

@@jimh3665 I'm riding rough enduro and stepdowns up to 2 meters. For a weight up to 100kg "6" means up to 120 cm height.
@@uwe_bikesweet, much appreciated
Sure wish I’d ticked the ride my bike for a living box on career day at school 😂.
Sam’s living his best life, much respect 🤘
It can happen anytime mate!!! 😉
Oh man. Me too!
Sam: "I have invented a new category of bike, BM-DureX"
Lewi: "I wonder if there are any companies would be interested in sponsoring a series..."
Yip with safety in mind and protection, I'm quite sure I know who you are thinking of 🤣🤣🤣👍
I'm pretty sure SE bikes invented this over a decade ago... With the OM Duro. This is old hat to the old guys...
This is my favourite type of video. Sam is so funny when he's on one! 🤣
History has been MADE!
The BMDurX hath been ripped, flipped, and Pill grips hath been slipped, right on!
Ride on! 🤙🏾🚴🏻♂️
I needed that Sam. AHH! Laughter is good for me with you when you shouted was fun for me. Thank you. Good to see you Lewi. Your alright?:) From Craig.
I actually have BMX handlebars 9in. to be exact, on my rigid hardtail mountain bike 29er... Very comfortable ride and won't be going back!
I plan to put that on my surron, is it hard to go steep uphils with those high bars ?
I love it . Always hated low bars .
Plan & Simple - bloody awesome!
I just love the way you guys speak! Big cheers!

This is an amazing idea. I’ve been doing it for years. You can probably find a slightly lower rise, and it’s pure gold
BMX bars on your jump bike 🥸👍. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy the ride

It was so funny when Matt Jones did this exact same thing. It was a great hilarious video of his.
Sam, writing history once more…
Laughed my ass off in the process too 😂
🤘🏼
Matt Jones did this a long long time ago on UA-cam. But ok.
@@LunarTikOfficial and didn’t make me laugh, nor put flare to it like mr. Pilg...But ok.
