I like to imagine Ashardalon's Stride leaving a trail of fire behind as you travel at mach 12 speed. You also have to start a fight for this to work otherwise you can't benefit from the gloom stalker 10ft bonus. The fight makes it even more hilarous: while navigating a forest you meet a bear as a raging fire fey little guy on steroids. The bear sees you and assumes you want to attack him so you start the fight. The bard uses his Mantle of Inspiration and you run through the beast at sonic speed, hitting it with your flames, using your metamagic to increase the damage, activating your fey item and then proceed to fly about 25km away, leaving your bard friend with a mentally scarred bear.
If you were to Shapechange into a Marilith, their Reactive feature gives you one reaction every turn, and, while this is similar to have the infinite Transmutation Wizards' Transmuter Stones, you could have infinite College of Glamour Bards in the combat each using their Mantle of Inspiration to let you move infinitely within a 6 second round. It should be noted that the Glamour Bard needs to see you to use this feature and breaking light speed might put a stop to that.
One issue with this is that using Glyph of Warding for 9th level spells wouldn't work as described, since you need to cast it once for the base spell and then use another spell slot for the imbued spell, and even a 20th level spellcaster has only one 9th level spell slot. This could be circumvented via Boon of High Magic or Boon of Spell Recall, or alternatively by just using a 9th level spell scroll. So it does still work, but it should probably be clarified that these are needed. Very good video, though. Everything was explained in a way that was surprisingly easy to follow, and there's something about your phrasing that kept the whole thing very interesting. Also I like going fast, so that's a definite plus.
A super rich Lvl5 wizard with glyph of warding and expeditious retreat: "look what they need to mimic a fraction of our power" As many dash actions as you have glyphs and it actually works *because* of the rules of spells not stacking by using the dash action before stepping on the next glyph which gets rid of the previous spell and gives you a dash action
Okay sure ONE turn and I’ll give you the Quickling more than likely out classes my suggestion but Horseshoes of Speed add 30 feet to the base centaur’s 40 feet, non-attunement. So as a Centaur you’d still be moving while the Tabaxi has to take a turn off. Over 3 rounds the Centaur has moved 3 times while as the Tabaxi has only moved 2. This has the added bonus of cutting the Shapechange step simplifying it all because Centaur is a character class already.
I haven't refined it very much, but the way I made my unlimited speed build is using the Hadozee. Get them up as high as possible and because they move 5 feet per 1 foot fallen and there is a feat that allows that movement to dash now, it easily smashes most speed builds. Unfortunately, it does require a little DM cooperation because he could just say the world ends at 10,000 feet up. Still my fav speed build though. Enjoy
Great video, I've been trying to answer this question myself for a while now and I've done some pretty extensive research on this so I have a few notes. First, sage advice states that you can't cast spell with a range of self through glyph of warding. Of course sage advice isn't actual rules but most people go by them, but it's dm choice really. Second, just to get it out of the way, I believe that carrying a bunch of transmuter's stones wouldn't work because features of the same name don't stack. Third, a few options to consider that you may have overlooked, Demon Ichor, a trap in Avernus that has a plethora of different effects that come from rolling on a table, one of which is movement speed increasing by 10ft (Source Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus). Since I'm following the sage advice and won't be able to shape change the werebear hybrid form is a decent option that doesn't even require a spell, hybrid form has a base movement of 40ft. Fourth, Gloomstalker's dread ambusher feature specifies that the bonus to movement speed is only on the first turn of combat, I know this is all purely theoretical but getting all of the setup done just before the first round of combat is unlikely/very difficult. Fifth, there are a few things you mentioned that I didn't know about which boosts my own speed build. Chronolometer is great if not a bit rng dependant, but I think the extra action is worth it for the attunement slot. Didn't know about any of the bard stuff, all of that is great too. I also hadn't considered Aura of Alacrity either. My speed build differs in a few ways from this one, obviously I'm not using shape change so mine is inherently much slower. I also prefer not to use the feywild shard due to the massive rng component of its use, opting to attune to an artifact with a major beneficial property and hoping for the +10ft movement speed one. Another main difference is that I take more levels in wizard to concentrate on Ashardalon's Stride at as high a level that is viable. I ended up with Figher 2 / Wizard 15 (Bladesinger) / Monk 2, the last level can be whatever you like nothing will really contribute to speed but for actual viability I'd go with DS Sorcerer, Peace Cleric or just another Wizard level. So maths wise I ended up with 40+10(Longstrider)+10(Swiftness Elixir)+10(Unarmoured Movement)+10(Bladesong)+10(Mobile)+30(Epic Boon)+10(Artifact)+10(Demon Ichor Warped Flesh)+10(Transmuter's Stone)+45(Ashardalon's Stride 8th Level)+10(Chronolometer)+10(Irrepressible Dance)+10(Tale of the Traveler)+10(Aura of Alacrity)= 235ft x2(Feline Agility)x2(Haste)x2(Boots of Speed)x2(Eagle Whistle)=3680ft. So 3680ft(MoI Reaction) to 7360ft(Regular Movement) to 11,040ft(Dash Action) to 14,720ft(Haste Dash) to 18,400ft(Bonus Action Dash) to 22,080ft(Action Surge Dash) to 25,760ft(Chronolometer action dash). Pretty respectable if I do say so myself, considering I'm nerfing myself pretty hard by following sage advice, and the build isn't totally useless as far as combat goes. Anyway, this comment is already way longer than I intended it to be so I'll stop my rambling here, lemme know what you think.
I found a really old post about fastest speed, and it broke it into 3 parts. The first used advanced class and race features, as well as some pick up and carry shenanigans, the second was the npc rail gun, but the third was about Tensar’s floating disk. It was something about how the spell was worded you could make a specific track to accelerate it to insane speeds, but I didn’t really understand it. Could you look into it? I’ll try to find the post.
If you change your body into another creature to gain a strong base flight, i recommend looking at celestials. For species we have 100% written out as a base species we can get up to 150 starting flight speed Easily, however, if we include some of the celestials we have only seen one example of (usually a named example, but not always) we know of one celestial beast who had 240 base flight with a buffed dash ability letting each dash give an extra movement (so x3 instead of x2), and a named individual angel who had 520 ft flight and was clearly a fighter/paladin based on the skills they showed.
I would like to introduce: The Hobgoblin Railgun Matrix. A Hobgoblin mastermind rogue can use their Fey Gift (Passage) to increase someone movement speed (at a range of 30 ft.) They can do that twice (action and bonus action) as technically the help action has no limit, but the advantage gained doesn't stack. So long as they are within 30 ft. and have line of sight or can hear you, you can fit as many hobgoblins as you want. I have calculated, with Hobgoblins being above and under you where ever they can be fit, 7000+ ft. per second. Then be a tabaxi and dash a bunch of times with action, bonus action, action surge, feline agility, and even haste (haste action + doubled speed from haste)... its a lot Edit: speed can always go up- theoretically. You can take every feature that can give speed, such as the alchemist artificers experimental elixir (swiftness) giving a +10 movement speed for an hour. So take an infinite number of artificers, all the luck, and how ever many elixirs you can drink in an hour...
Xp goblin if you remeber im the one who said my life is yours if you do a long form video so now i hope you take this sugestin make a video about how to make the absoupte max undead you can have and ill give somthing better then my soul a cookie

May be good to clarify that this build is for DnD 2024, as sorcerer before that got metamagic options at level 3 instead of level 2. Also, unless they changed Glyph of Warding in 2024, if you cast a Spell Glyph then you have to use a second spell slot for the spell you are storing. That means the highest level spell you can store es 7th level, not 9th, as wizard have only one 8th and 9th spell slot and the glyph also needs to be upcast to the level of the spell, so you can't use Ashardalon Stride at 9th level (well, technically I guess you can store an 8th level spell in a 9th level glyph, but I'm guessing the same wizard is casting shaoechange). It's also iffy the ruling of using a range of self spell with the glyph (glyph of warding's spell glyph requires a spell that can target a creature or an area, and I'm not sure you can count range of self as "targeting" anything, but I need a rules lawyer for that)
Our wizard friend has the Boon of High Magic, he got it just so he can create a glyph with a level 9 Ashardalon's Stride for our needs. His services are gonna cost us an entire city but hey, we gotta go fast so we can't even carry that much gold on us anyways. This combo also needs 2 days to be prepared and involves 4 level 9 slots if we only know one guy with the Boon of High Magic.
Furthermore, it's a 2014 build or it is using a lot of material from 2014, which it could do even in a 2024 build thanks to the retro-compatibility. About the metamagic options, I think he got them from the Metamagic Adept feat like he said at 3:16 not from the sorcerer class itself, which is probably only needed to attune to the Feywild Shard if I am not missing anything.
Weird question, what would change if you instead went for most ground gained, aka slow effects are included for the max speed difference between you and an opponent. Basically adding your speed to how much you can reduce the opponents movement speed.
you dont just 'take' boons imo. you need to justify it and the only way to do that is via the aberrant dragonmark transmuters stone would likly be interpreted as a magic item. and magic items dont stack with themselves in that way the only other things i can think of is the Pennant of the Vind Rune and the artificer level 14 trick i mentioned on your previous vid
