This movie started my life long love for Motorcycles. I'm about to be 70 and still riding. Leather jacket, boots and Arthritis Medication surging through my veins!

Wow! We’re very similar! This one started my love of motorcycles as well and “riding as one with Gaia/Mother Earth/Mother Nature with me”!!! On the live version of these ladies singing in Black & White TV on stage, they didn’t do the ending like here of the original song! However, 98% of my childhood memories are blocked out from my horrid childhood experiences as I was growing up. When things seemingly so small as a simple song like this, it immediately unlocks/unblocks hidden away good memories when mom would play her record collection titled “Supergirls” and this was one of the songs on the collection.
But she would always play the collection and some others potentially on the edge of my psychological discovery hopefully will surface as well, but it led to me playing the records when I was older while she was at work and it was ALWAYS the side that had this song on it! 😊. For me, instead it was my searching for a unique, standing alone if needed be for what he believed and lived by, as being the leader of the pack also (some would mistakenly refer to him as a rebel absent knowing/recognizing his truth, living his own alibis) and that childhood dream/fantasy never came true so I got myself another bike (crotch rocket) when it had been 20 years since I had last ridden. However, after my first accident (not on motorcycle) damaged permanently spine & nerves, 3 spine surgeries coming to 4th, and all my other conditions since that accident, I’m unable to ride anymore having been disabled from that incident, but that insatiable, magnetic pulling, destined draw to riding again is ALWAYS there, still! Guess once you’re entrapped with more primitive, basic forms of travel, it won’t EVER change as that inner 🔥 Fire was placed inside us sooooo long ago, now. 46 here...BTW

When I was 18 I had a Harley, stood 6’2, jet black hair swept back like it was 1955, and a leather jacket. Quite different than everybody else in 2002. My mom would make fun of me and call me leader of the pack lol 😂. Looking back I guess I kinda see it now. I sure miss her. She loved this song

It’s still surprises me when I meet people that don’t have a clue that any of this music even existed. I even met someone who didn’t know who The Rolling Stones were. Can you believe that?!? Crazy!

The movie that cemented and gave cred to Marlon Brando's reputation for pretty much the rest of his life. And the bad boys were born. Compare this version of the Shangra-Las, Leader of the Pack, to the one with them singing on stage and Robert Goulet rolls up on his Honda 160. Check out the comments compared to this version. "It's a real gas, man"

My mum told me she used to turn this song up on her dad's radio with her little brother and sing this with him. Her brother my uncle passed away from suicide when I was 9, I'm 17 now, and my mum she's in her mid 50s and she still knows the lyrics. :) Ever since that Oh no TikTok became popular I was happy to see them be revived from such a long lingo.

It's one of those songs that surprises you with dialogue, that sets up the story, a story of youthful love, which ends in tragedy, a melodrama.💥 A teenager falls in love with the pack leader of a motorcycle gang, decides to leave him to please his father and the boy, after a motorcycle ride in the rain ends up crashing and losing his life. 💥The whole story is told as a nursery rhyme by Mary Weiss, lead singer of Shangri-Las while the others in the group imitate her. 💥Shangri-Las, one of Pop's (Punk-New Wave), most beloved girl groups was one of the foremost exponents of teenage angst, a group that avoids being glamorous and promotes the image of the tough girl. 💥Shangris - Las was a group of student sisters from Queens who began their singing career in talent shows , they would later strike gold with the collaboration of the eccentric Pop genius, George Morton.💥 It was one of the most acclaimed, successful songs at that time , personally reminds me of Amy Wirehouse, presents originality in the exposition, in the drafting of the entire story, from the interweaving of voices and noises that I can compare to the confusion of the adolescent period , a confusion that you carry with you once you finish listening to it. 💥Thank you for this novelty in style and writing, I think it's a rarity, to have it where it was a stroke of luck, thank you 😊😊😊..

Mm--"Is she really going out with him?
"Well, there she is, Let's ask her"
"Betty, is that Jimmy's ring you're wearing?"
    "Mm-hm"
"Gee, it must be great riding with him"
"Is he picking you up after school today?"
    "Mm-mm"
"By the way, where did you meet him?"
"I met him at the candy store
He turned around and smiled at me
    You get the picture
    "Yes, we see"
That's when I fell for the leader of the pack
My folks were always putting him down
They said he came from the wrong side of town
They told me he was bad but I knew he was sad
That's why I fell for the leader of the pack
One day my dad said find someone new
I had to tell my Jimmy we're through
He stood there and asked me why, but all I could do was cry
I'm sorry I hurt you, the leader of the pack
    Do do
He sort of smiled and kissed me good bye
The tears were beginning to show
As he drove away on that rainy night,
I begged him to go slow, whether he heard,
I'll never know Look out! Look out! Look out!
I felt so helpless, what could I do
Remembering all the things we'd been through?
In school they all stop and stare
    I can't hide the tears, but I don't care
I'll never forget him, the leader of the pack
Ooh, the leader of the pack now he's gone
the leader of the pack now he's gone
the leader of the pack now he's gone

The new Royal Enfield Meteor 350 brought me here, after I read a comment that it sounds almost identical to the bike in this video. Lol.... The guy was right! 😆👌🏍

What other songs do you know of with this tear jerking "my loved one died" theme? There's "Last Kiss" by J. Frank Wilson & the Cavaliers, of course. And I know of an old country song by The Maddox Brothers and Rose, called "Careless Driver." There must be others...especially in country music. So, if you know of any others, please share. Thanks.

Methinks the late great Ammy Winehouse adored this song! Am I right? Or, Am I wrong? Patrick’s Plaz-Times Sole Survivor! My Big Hero&Brother was shot back of head&My Heart soul&llife He is my Angel.

Bette Midler used to say that there were actually 4 girls in this group. But you only ever saw 3, because there was always one of them at the clinic. Lol.

    Butchie Speranzia ❤
Always been my true love since I was a little girl..
I grew up you noticed me ..
Then took me for a ride on your bike .
Then you started working on the
apartment..your dad came down with snacks for us.. I really was so happy for short time all those years knowing you your family high school you ..we were in carpentry class which I hope that you notice i grew up..i had to argue making a point why can't girls take the class i guess I change the error of time back then but I really want to in same class..
You gave me your high school ring to wear..we takled for hours you wanted to fix the apartment for us your father was happy next time I came back to see you i went home to shower change i was told you passed away i just went into shock my friends mom they carried me home to her house i don't remember much just couldn't get the strength to go to the funeral
John Chrissy went in your mom went into shock you sat up
Definitely wasn't going to see you like that once they place the plack @ the cemetery after awhile coming to grips i was happy to see what they placed on the stone in ground..
I really really really loved you my life would of been so very different if i just stayed with you longer that night 😢💦❤
We will meet again this i do believe won't be too long from now at the rate my transplant is going..
Little boy to teenager who i had a secret crush on..
    My happiness was short lived
gave your high school ring and later i lost my when I heard you passed away i just left you earlier if only i stayed with you..
