My Dad, who never liked Elvis, came into my room one time while I was playing, “Danny Boy”, off of the 33 record album, “Elvis Presley Blvd..”. He asked me, “Who is that singing?”. I told him it was Elvis. Now, my Dad having been born in Wales, this was one of his favorite songs. He said, a little choked up, “I’ve never heard it sung so beautifully!”. What a moment.❤️
I don’t think songs like this, which Elvis sang on his last albums, were an attempt to win anyone over. He was singing songs he felt an emotional connection to. I think if my Dad hadn’t been so propagandized against Elvis’s early image, but had listened to his ballads, or gospel music, he would have realized his talent sooner.
Elvis is love, pure love. Like a beautiful girl with no makeup…there is nothing contrived with his singing. He loved us. He sang for us not for himself. He was one of a kind. We will never see the likes of him again.
ME TOO.....Hes sorely missed , Alot of people who loved him, some that grew up with his incredible musical - Influence, after all these years,STILL carry their GRIEF with them....We've never really got over it, and never will.....
Nobody, just nobody, sings Danny Boy like Elvis. Cuts you. Cuts me anyway. Cuts me deep. Cuts through all the walls I have built. Enters deep into my soul. Guts me. Brings tear to my eyes. Think of my dad and all my dad meant to me. And this impromtu live version. Ye gods! That song meant so much to Elvis too.
Wem hier nicht die Tränen in den Augen stehen, der hat kein Herz. Meine Güte ...so berührend... seine Stimme war nicht von dieser Welt. Elvis war unglaublich großartig, einzigartig, unerreichbar.
What is amazing, about Elvis. he could sing hit songs. that were number one on the charts, even better, than the original artists. He is considered the greatest entertainer of the last half of the 20th century. The greatest entertainer of the first half of the 20th was Al Jolson.
I have tears in my eyes......That was so beautiful. I used to go around to each of the dining rooms of my eldercare facility and sing this as one of my residents played piano for me....A treasured memory.
Spiritual experience listening to Elvis sing this live and impromptu..with hardly any backup 😇 he was truly a gift from God. No one comes close. The way he cuts right to your heart ❤️ when he sings. I'll never stop listening. I'll never stop loving you Elvis ❤️🔥🥵😇🎶
Love how clear his voice is and how quiet it is no screaming women just elvis, This could be an official song because The quality of the Video sound is smooth
It must have been a real treat hearing it live. Truly incredible vocals..very powerful.. He did it again at Graceland for a recording in the same year.
Das war mein letzter Gruß an dich mein Liebling dann mußte ich dich leider gehen lassen. Du wirst immer in meinem Herzen sein. Ich liebe dich. Wir werden uns wiedersehen. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜❤
One of my favorite songs, and, IMO, speaking of Elvis' recordings, the studio version is up there with "Unchained Melody" in terms of raw emotional response. This live version is beautiful for what it is, but it could have been much better if it was at least performed in C, just like the studio version. It is no secret that by then Elvis was having issues with reaching certain notes - in fact, the studio version itself is an example of this, as it was first tried in a higher key, and then settled in C as soon as Elvis noticed that he would have a hard time hitting the right notes. The same happened to "I'll Never Fall In Love Again", by the way. Just imagine Elvis giving this song the "Unchained Melody" treatment live. By himself on the piano, playing and singing it in the key he was most comfortable with (was it Tony Brown's "fault" here that it was played in D? Elvis asks for the right key and he starts playing it in D), which, as I said, actually ends up being the same key as he performed "Melody". Whoa. Now THAT would be something. Alas, it was not to be. Another lost opportunity in Elvis' final years. That said, I'm thankful we have this one special moment recorded and available.
Oh, Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling From glen to glen, and down the mountain side. The summer's gone, and all the roses falling, It's you, it's you must go and I must bide. But come ye back when summer's in the meadow, Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow, It's I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow, Oh, Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so! But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying, If I am dead, as dead I well may be, You'll come and find the place where I am lying, And kneel and say an Ave there for me. And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me, And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be, For you will bend and tell me that you love me, And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me! Danny Boy é uma balada, escrita pelo compositor inglês Frederic Weatherly em 1913, baseada na tradicional melodia irlandesa de “Londonderry Air”.

What a great artist & beautiful song, it was my Grandma Flynn s favorite too
That's the secret to winning people over. You have to appeal to their culture

Can you elaborate on the story? What he thought of Elvis before and then what he came to think of him after
Many Elvis haters are just blinded by other haters but when they hear certain songs are stunned by his obvious talent.
Elvis is love, pure love. Like a beautiful girl with no makeup…there is nothing contrived with his singing. He loved us. He sang for us not for himself. He was one of a kind. We will never see the likes of him again.
Elvis puts his heart in his music and makes me cry

Goodness this is a beautiful treasure. Thank you. Only Elvis. Always and forever.
Oh my gosh I have never heard him singing this song! Oh no the tears are here. They usually play this song at Irish funerals!
What perfection that's all I can say

Sadly, there never be another, or anyone as talented. Just take time, to listen to the different ranges of his vocals. He was amazing.

Sherrill Nielsen performed it live in Lake Tahoe on May 9, 1976 & in Rochester, NY on May 25, 1977.
