Darren waxing lyrical about Back in the USSR compelled me to play my MP3 rip from the 2018 Super Deluxe White Album. Probably very few Beatles fans would declare Back in the USSR as their favourite ever Beatles song, but it's an absolutely joyful masterpiece, perfectly clocking in at just over two and half minutes. The exuberance, they joy and the playfulness is utterly infectious, and of course it's a brilliant rock & roll song. It's perfect, and also perfect is how meticulously the jet engines weave in and out from start to finish. As if that wasn't a fantastic enough start to an album, it then segues into Dear Prudence, another masterpiece. Maybe the best two songs to ever grace the start of any Beatles album.

To answer the question Ken asked Darren- Yes I do have a higher affection for Ringo songs that he wrote with others or by himself than songs someone writes for him. I have the same view for every singer. That’s why Time is one of my favorite 😍 Ringo songs. Those lyrics say so much about him and what he went through in life. Those are the kind of songs I look 👀 for from a singer songwriter.

My first feeling about this album is that it’s a Linda Perry album with special guest Ringo Starr. I love Ringo and like the EP thing. I think Darren”s comments about something being off is spot on.

One overlooked great intro, IMO, would be "Revolution 9." I mean, who hasn't been entranced by the repeating "Number 9"?

I thought what John was saying in the beginning intro of IATM was “To your mother” Lol, don’t know why.

Thank goodness for Allan saving this show. Paperback Writer and WMGGW have the best intros! 😊 Honorable mentions for me going to Eleanor Rigby and What You’re Doing

"I'm Down" has a great, hard-hitting intro. "Do Unto Others" by Pee Wee Crayton was around before "Revolution." A great lift and riff.

If one isolates the center channel of the 5.1 mix of "It's All Too Much" on the Yellow Submarine DVD or blu-ray, it sounds to me like George is saying "To your muff". However, this wouldn't be a reference to the Big Muff distortion pedal, as it hadn't been invented yet. I don't know what he might have meant by this.

Well I heard February Sky only so far …I think I would prefer to hear LINDA PERRY sing it! It sounds like kind of a quality song. Musically it sounds to me like MOST modern recordings in that it does not have a feel of musicians playing in a room…because it’s not! The arrangement always sounds cut and paste in that there is perfection in the licks and harmonies but for me it is a tacked on , almost a “demo” feel even with all the high tech..it just does not “breathe” . Ringo’s voice on this song anyway are not a perfect match😁..but I guess I should hear the other tunes.

I think Ringo’s new ep is a disjointed mess. He needs to stick with collaborators who are more in his wheelhouse. I do like the zoetrope albums.

I've enjoyed all of them, but I prefer the album format. I'd rather take the EP's, collect all the songs together, and make one long album.
