    I had one idiot at the parts department at my local Harley dealership try and tell me that the M8 motors run better with syn 3 oil then amsoil. He said the twin cam motors were better with amsoil and the m8 motors are better with syn3. He also said that they were rebuilding m8 motors with only 25,000 miles on them. I still went with amsoil. I’ve been running that oil in my last 3 bikes and zero issues.

      To each there own. Some people have their beliefs, and that's OK.

    How do you reset the service mileage for the 1K?

    • @DrHarley
      @DrHarley  4 місяці тому

      When you power on the motorcycle. When you see the warning screen come on. Than hold the power button on the radio. You will get a menu scroll down till you see reset milage. Select that. All done.

    All my coolant leaked out hose ripped. I replaced the hose. Should I be okay just re-filling it and wait till it bubbles down then refill again? No special tools needed?

      @@DrHarley Thank you so much. I thought some special tools or apparatus would be needed. Glad it works the same as other radiator coolant systems.

    • @DrHarley
      @DrHarley  4 місяці тому +1

      @rustnation2651 it does. However it is a pain in the backside to burp all the air out. Take your time.

      @@DrHarley Hey brother someone else told me this following message, what ya think?
      Hello, The system is not gravity fed. If you have air in the system it really needs to be pressurized to push the air through. Running the pump is not enough pressure to get trapped air out. This is the official Harley statement, I really don't have enough experience with it to advise otherwise. I guess it would depend where in the system the leak was and how long it was leaking for.

    • @DrHarley
      @DrHarley  4 місяці тому +1

      @rustnation2651 I know on the older twin cooled motors that is a true statement. However, with the 24's it's a gravity system. You would just need to run the water pump to help circulate

    No clutch adjustment? I took mine in for the 1k and my clutch went from perfect as far as the friction zone being very soon to release to now I have to almost let the clutch lever completely out to get to the friction zone. Hoping I can adjust it back to what it was.

    • @DrHarley
      @DrHarley  5 місяців тому +1

      Yes there is a clutch adjustment. I didn't have the work sheet. However. I always adjust a clutch in every service.

    My DCT Wing needed its first service at 4k. The next is 12k. Oil changes only so far, and Honda says change the oil every 8k and oil filters every 16k. It will probably only last 500k though.

    • @DrHarley
      @DrHarley  7 місяців тому

    My dealer for my 1k cross thread my transmission stick and broke it. I had to buy a new one buy steel one and make sure you get the o ring. (Don’t come with it).
