The PS3 only had a small batch of games that worked with remote play to the Vita... and on that list, only a handful are games you ever heard of. heh It was the PS4 where that feature really shined because Sony made it a requirement that every game made for the PS4 had to also be able to be used with remote play to the Vita.
Yeah that's what I've been hearing, I just never got it to work personally.
Something I was thinking about in regards to this
Some original vita models had the whole "3G" capability. I wonder if they'll do a similar thing with this, and optionally support 5G
After all, playing games anywhere is the entire point of a handheld to begin with, and adding this would bring a lot of value over something that can only play games with a WiFi connection
another reason the vita was way ahead of it’s time. if Sony is smart, they’ll do this, so they probably won’t lmao
That is a very interesting point to bring up there, now that's something more I could get behind if it happens.
It ain't, Sony will never make a standalone handheld gaming device. This is just just another proprietary "accessory" only for PS5, nothing more nothing less.
Might as well use their smartrphone with that remote play app (Or pay almost $10 for PSPlay: Remote Play app, a much better remote play for PS4/PS5) with bluetooth PS4/PS5 controller.
Ok but it's no good for people like me. The last tethered Sony console I owned was a PS2. All the others after that I passed by because they were stuck with the constant internet on bs. Same with Microsoft's abominations, apart from the original and I think the 360. That's one of the reasons I only use the PC for gaming you can play 1000's games offline. And with my hardly on, 2mb per second connection it's a real blessing.
I simply don't buy physical games with required patches since at that point it provides no real benefit over a digital copy other than debatable resellability. Only a handful of physical PS3 and PS4 AAA games have required patches for single player and you can avoid them entirely like I do by doing a bit of research online before making a purchase.
Like I said many times before, I think they're just playing it safe.
I am with you James, a streaming console does not appeal to me.
Yeah, it's a disaster waiting to happen in my opinion.
Just don't understand the drawl of cloud or streaming devices. There are so many options for that, that I don't see the appeal of a Playstation centric cloud device. I'd greatly support a dedicated portable from Sony but zero interest in this.
I think it's the safest Sony method they could come up with.
I’m with you James I’m a physical gamer or digital. But cloud no thanks. Excellent video as always James.
Yeah I think at the very least if it were digital, it has a good chance of being successful.
Cloud Gaming Sucks!! Physical Games Forever!!!
A beautiful comment if there ever was one! 💪
Maybe I'm just being hopeful but I find it hard to believe it will only be a remote play device. The fact that they just partnered with Backbone seems like a conflict of their interest. I think there's more to it and I wouldn't be surprised if there's a second device. Also if this rumored device is considered the "Lite", shouldn't that mean there's also a better device in the works as well.
I do like that positive spin you're putting on the situation. That would be amazing if it actually happened, I guess only time will tell.
It is an odd move after they decided there wasn't enough of a market to warrant another handheld, they decide to make one for remote play only, when it can already be done on pretty much any smartphone or tablet, which virtually everyone has now. It's like they saw all the comments on this channel from people saying they'd definitely buy a new Sony handheld and thought 'we'll see about that!'
I know right? I could see them feeling this way back around 2013 to 2015, but now that the switch came out along with the steam deck and the handheld market is on fire lately, it just doesn't make sense.
Even if it were to be a streaming handheld, it still sounds like a hard pass. There's tons of those kinds of handhelds out right now, and even the Steam Deck I heard has its own ways of streaming Xbox/Playstation games. Maybe it'll get its fanbase but I'm happy with the Switch and Deck to not even bother.
I agree with you. I just feel that if it were cloud-based it'd be a lot better than just being a strictly remote Play device.
I don't mind this being primarily a way to stream PS4/PS5 games via remote play or cloud gaming however If it had a slot to play PS Vita games or could play Digital PSP and PS Vita games and heck PS1 and PS2 Classics you bought from PSN with out needing an internet connection to play them I would buy this. I bought a few PS1 classics last year on my PS3 I want to play but I don't always have the time at home to play them at home on my PS3
Now that I can agree with you on, if this had a PS Vita slot it would truly be a day one purchase for me personally.
Good video! James! Sounds interesting, but I would to wait and see how much Sony would ask for a cloud based system! Don't worry! I don't have a PS5 yet either!
Glad to hear I'm not alone in this Dane. High five! 😁
I’m just grateful I can play all my PS4 Pro games remote play on my PS Vita. It’s such a shame that you can’t remote play your PS5 games on the PS Vita.
I know how you feel there Josh. I think Sony could have easily implemented this but they just wanted to go with other platforms and once again shun the Vita. 😭
Streaming, cloud gaming is a cool idea but keep in mind not every country have the internet infrastructure that will support that idea today and even in the near future.
Yes that's very true, some countries don't have the best internet. Heck even my house doesn't have the best internet.
For me it will be a pass whether it is a remote play only or a cloud-based device for me it's the same because there's no internet service fast enough in my country that could run any one of these options properly but if it had at the very least an option to run digital PS4 games natively plus having a BC for PS1, PS2, PSP & VITA games even if the handheld won't have a dedicated games then yes I'll buy one
That is a very good point, not everyone's interconnection is the same.
The idea of the just remote play or cloud based games makes this device very unappealing. The mount of data you would go thru would be a lot. Our current internet service providers all tend to have a data cap that you can probably reach really quick. I hope they change their approach to this device. i just bought a mobile phone controller to hopefully try out next week to start doing remote play from my ps5 on some simple games. 2d side scrollers or some jrpgs.
I agree with you 100%!
@@PSVitaat2am i checked the setting for my remote play app and it says at the highest video setting of 720p it will use up 6 gigs per hour roughly. Lol that a lot
as for the vita and ps3 streaming game system, i managed to get it working... but it doesn't make sense. when we talk about portable games /ported games for handhelds, we expect a different experience: a shorter game or different mechanics, different levels.
streaming a console game on a handheld is already wrong for me because it makes me feel like an idiot for having bought a TV to play with the best visual quality and in the end use a tiny screen to play.
a desktop or notebook is another history since you can mirror on your TV
Oh nice, nice to see that someone out there was able to figure it out. Unfortunately it was past my skill set. 😭
I don't pay attention to rumors anymore regarding Sony and Sony handhelds... But thx 😊
I like some cloud gaming but I am not for it becoming a normal thing. My reason is first no mods... second, once this becomes the normal thing and companies stop making personal owned games. The problem will be that now sure it’s 12-20 a month for cloud gaming. But once it’s normal the price will jump up a lot!
Definitely! I really do hope it doesn't become a normal thing either. Even though I fear that it may. 😭
I would never buy a console that I can't actually buy games for. When all that cloud streaming stuff gets shut down you're just stuck with a paperweight.
True, especially if we consider the fact that you need to own a PS5 or PS4 to even make this thing function. 😂
I use my ps vita mostly when I travel, and many time simply there's no internet connection, so I don't really think it's good for a handheld to be online only
I agree with you 100%!
How no one has thought about if there is a Q Lite (remoteplay device) maybe there is a Q that is a successor to the PSP/Vita. Is that could be a possibility.
That's a very positive spin on things! 😁
I figure there's no reason to buy a stream-based handheld device if you already have something like a gaming laptop. If it turns out to be backwards-compatible with Vita games and has an amazing screen, amazing battery life, and L2 and R2 buttons, sign me up.
I know right? Another odd decision by Sony.
Yup, I used PS Now to stream games to my PS Vita. Quality wasn't the greatest, so I stuck to slow paced games like RPGs, puzzles, or adventure titles that didn't really require twitch responses.
I agree with you on that one Andrew, it was an interesting concept but just wasn't for me personally.
i really hope if Q lite release , then another full stand alone handheld will come like Q max or else 😅. like, Q lite was for stream device and another handheld like truly PSP.
As long as it's its own handheld device I'm perfectly fine with that option. 😁
Couln't get PSP/PS3 remote play to work? There were some hoops to jump through and once you managed to get it working you couldn't play many actual games with it. You could stream video with it though.
Yeah that's what people have been telling me. I wanted to play Heavy Rain on my PS Vita back in the day, but unfortunately that never happened. 😭
"cloud streaming device"? No thanks. I'd rather have a device I can actually play games on (whether it's physical or digital, reluctantly) without the need of an internet connection.
I agree with you 100%!
Liked. Commented. Subscribed. Hail the shenanigans algorithm!
Personally, I'm always Somewhere or going somewhere. So I value my sweet sweet digital media over physical media. And with the rise of digital media (I don't think I've bought a physical game in years), is collecting video games a dying hobby?
I'm sure it's a dying hobby compared to what it used to be, there's no denying that. 🤔
I'm not for cloud gaming internet is still quite expensive where I live
Yes and I got a feeling it's that way for many others too. 🤔
But I already own a steam not only could work with remote play on a ps5 if I bought one but also DOES would with my series x...oh and it plays games from steam, gog, epic games and others.
True, this sort of comment just goes to show that Sony has some heavy competition to go up against these days.
more rumours = more excitement.
I'm up to about a 6 now.
🙂
Rumors, rumors everywhere! Now I need that toy story meme. XD
I'm still not convinced, I would need to see and read what Sony actually plans on what to do with the device.
Fair enough point there, can't say I blame you.
Ι love the physical games but imo the future of gaming will be digital only, so why don't we just collect for the vita and embrace this new era. I don't mind cloud gaming if there is some 5g function to play on the go. Steamdeck is kind of the same since you need internet verification to play and steam can delist even games you own if they choose to. Ps5 physical titles and remote play is always an option
Yeah I agree, we are heading into a much heavier digital future than ever before. One of the reasons why places such as Gamestop are struggling so much.
If it is truly cloud only gaming Im gonna take a hard pass on the new handheld really not lookin on being tethered to the internet just to play a game
Can't say I blame you on that one.
Even if the "Q Lite" is streaming only, that could mean PS Vita games on PS Plus in the future?
There is always that possibility yes. 🤔
IDK maybe what they said about the q lite was only something that was to lure Nintendo and Xbox into a false sense of security and it may be able to do more than what they said initially
, interesting theory there. Never thought about it that way. 🤔
I feel like if they were to do the whole clud gaming thing it could get a small fan base comparable to the Vita but still smaller. I feel if they were to make a new hand held game system they should definitely have it's own library for itself and not just be a secondary screen for the ps5.
True, could you imagine that community being even smaller than the PS Vita community. The irony!
@@PSVitaat2am if its just cloud gaming then I believe the fan base would be smaller than the Vita. However, if it's a fully supported hand held system I think it could rival the PSP's fan base. If it gets actual support as a sony system it'll grow. Just for the love of god no propriety memory cards
Probably very specific to Germany, but requiring a constant, stable, fast intenet connection would basically make this non-mobile. LTE coverage is horrible over here. And if you can only play it at home via WIFI, then why bother playing on a handheld device? Ok, I play my Vita at home too... Still, I think I'd pass. With an 8" screen it's srill too big for my taste.
You do bring up a good point, not everybody has the same internet connection. 🤔
What did you think of the PSP Go when that was a thing? Back when I thought that was the worst idea Sony could have for their portables
Well... At the time it was released? Sure it was a dumb idea (not every PSP game was even on the PSN) but now that literally anyone can "modify" one of these devices to play any game they want? It's the best.
It was fine for what it was, I just wasn't that big into it because I prefer physical media. It does have its conveniences though.
I did try to stream from my PS3 to my Vita few years ago, but other than the PS1 classics (which are natively supported on the Vita itself) there are very few games that offer this option, so it didn't really make sense for me. Also the only times I would stream from my home console would be when I'm in the toilet or when my gf has to keep the TV busy watching the last season of dubai bling.
Overall, I'm really not interested in this cloud gaming handheld, I play a lot my handhelds on public transports like trains and planes, so most of the times I don't have a connection. Plus when I do have it, it's so shitty I can barely watch youtube on my phone, let alone giving me an acceptable latency for gaming, maybe only if I wanted to play turn-based games. Overall, the idea of an handheld that constantly requires internet connection doesn't sit right with me.
I just love the fact that sony always looks very dumb at reading the market when it comes to make a platform other than their main console. The PSVR and PSVR2 are a good example, this handheld will be another, and the Vita was the most crazy one: Imagine sony saying "Handheld gaming is dead" just for Nintendo to essentially show up with a handheld that's an improved version of the Vita, with many features straight up recycled from sony's trashbin, and selling it like hot cakes.
I definitely agree with you when you say that Sony just doesn't get the market. Either they are bad at making predictions about how the market is currently going, then when they see they are wrong and try to get back into it, they choose foolish ways of doing so. Ugh Sony. 😞
we want a Handheld that you can take with you on the go not a cloud streaming device where you have to be online 24/7 this should be simple let's learn from the mistakes from the vita and improve on that
Yep I couldn't agree with you more!
Devices only designed for cloud gaming aren't of interest to me. I already have a Steam Deck, so if I want to use remote play that's the device I'll use.
True, just doesn't feel like a true dedicated handheld at that point.
i streamed ps3 to vita... then there was this small l2/r2/l3/r3 problem... it was the longest hour of my life with the ps vita before i gave up...
Oh interesting, I'm glad to see there's someone out there that was able to figure it out. It was beyond my skill set unfortunately. 😭
I knew you would get to the bottom of this .
it seems to be as i feared. The direction sony are going in seems in for this device will be cloud gaming and remote play.
i never wanted to be wrong so badly.
thanks for the video james.
I understand how you feel there Robert, these all are just leaks though. So maybe we still might have hope. 😭
If they do come out with this Device will you make your channel the PS4/PS5 Portable at 2am? i hope they let the vita store still playable for it.
Well you're right, I guess I'll be covering multiple platforms then. XD
@@PSVitaat2am James Sony Bond lives on!
Dont forget Vita (and ps3) had ps now at one point and we saw how long that lasted.
Yes very true very true! 🤔
If only one day we could add hardware and create drivers for upgrading our old consoles with ease. I want that to happen in my lifetime at least lol. Slap 5g on the vita upgrade the wifi or create the Ethernet dongle that they made for the dev kit vita's.
I got to say you paint a beautiful picture here Bank! 🤩
If Sony is making a new hand held they need to drop the Proprietary sd card like they did with the vita.
Definitely agree with this statement!
Q Lite at 2am doesn't roll off the tongue.
Not at all right? XD
Once again, this insult should not be called a handheld. It would be a Gamepad peripheral, no different to rhe WiiU's bar internet streaming.
Yes pretty much. 😭
Cloud gaming still doesn't make it better. They need to completely scrap remote play and cloud gaming alltogether and just make a dedicated handheld gaming unit like what everyone wants. You know what's the beauty of handheld gaming that home consoles or PCs won't even be able to achieve no matter how many years pass?... Being able to play your game anytime, anywhere, no matter what even happens to the world. I can even play them during blackouts in long periods with a powerbank. Not to mention it saves me more electricity coz I only have to charge it compared to a home console with the TV running along side with it.
Oh believe me I definitely agree with you! This would definitely be a day one purchase for me if it were a dedicated handheld system instead of something that would have to rely on the internet. All I was saying though is that it was just the lesser of the evils compared to what we were hearing before. It's still bad though.
Can’t take it on a metro or in the car so it’s still really gimped
Pretty much yeah. Until somebody hacks it anyway.
As someone who still upset that pc gaming has gone fully digital you can imagine my stance on this whole streaming/cloud nonsense.
Believe me I completely understand how you feel!
Going by the small amount of information we have, I doubt I would buy such a device. It sounds much too large to be comfortable to use for long periods. But, if it could remote play a PS5 while I sit in a hotel room 500 miles away, I'd give it serious consideration.
It does make me wonder if it'll be similar to the backbone controller at this point. 🤔
Maybe, it's still too foggy to know. What I really want is for the games that disappeared from the store to come back for us to continue buying!!!😢
I said it, it's said! 😲😎
😆🕊
There's only 3 games that comes to mind in that category, Gundam: Crossfire (or Target in Sight, according to where you live), Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 (the best one in my opinion) and Alpha Protocol
I'm with you on that one Ed my man! 💪
Asus have thrown a colossal spanner in the works for a remote play only device. Especially at Sony tax prices. They HAVE to make it cloud gaming too because people will just laugh and go buy a ROG Ally which can play games, stream games and REMOTE PLAY. Personally I'd go for one of the other cloud gaming only handhelds over a Sony tax product.... Once, twice, thrice burned by Sony.
I understand how you feel. That's one of my biggest fears, that Sony has lost so much Goodwill with the handheld Community than not many people will trust them anymore.
I recently have been playing through Resistance Burning Skies and discovered I was actually close to getting the platinum for it. Of course, there is an online trophy for it. I would love to get the Plat to show my love for the game, but there doesn't seem to be players around. Anyone wanna help a fellow vita fan out?
Any help here for him guys?
If it was remote play only I'm out. If its a cloud gaming device I'm only barely more interested. I'm not looking for another locked ecosystem to play digital only that gets shut down in a few years when Sony loses interest. They gotta release something at least as solid as the Steam Deck if they want me at all interested.
Man I really hope it's not remote Play only, that's just a disaster waiting to happen.
Why the heck don't they just make an attachment for phones that can link directly to the ps5 and sell it 😊
They kind of do sort of have something like that with the backbone controller.
At least in the US national broadband coverage is not comprehensive - After all, Starlink's idea of being deployed to the nation's rural communities.
I'm the wrong audience for this - Seattle area and the suburbs having decent broadband are a complete crapshoot, Virginia Beach/Norfolk and the suburbs having decent broadband are a complete crapshoot, and as an active Sailor it's a virtual guarantee most of the day will be spent in a dead zone.
PSNow ran like a 2006 UA-cam video in both locations with hefty input lag, and that doesn't even require a hardware investment. And lest we forget, Xbox One was originally slated to require consistent connectivity to function at all. Not to mention I still have zero interest in renting games perpetually.
Lastly, getting a PS5 is still a total crapshoot quantity-wise at retailers. So, no.
Only now getting a Vita with the means to do so, and knowing SD2Vita exists so I don't need to invest in the platform's proprietary cards, despite the platform's market death.
Fuck cloud-only devices, and fuck tethered handhelds - zero interest. I just take issue with gaming companies making tonedeaf assumptions about how many of their consumers live in the same environmental conditions and with the same means as the company itself. Hopefully it sells for someone else, but I feel it's the wrong direction for a bunch of reasons personally. It feels more like a means of holding content hostage via bad infrastructure and subscriptionware to force consumer rights out the window than it would be convenient.
Bravo my man! You stated some excellent facts here! 💪
I REALLLY HOPE THEY DONT DO THIS, CLOUD GAMING IS GREAT UNTIL YOU ARE PLAYING A FPS OR SIMILAR GAME YOU WILL NOTICE THE LAG IT WILL MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE. EVEN WITH 1000% CONNECTION ITS NOT GOOD WITH FPS. IF THEY DO THIS IT WILL FLOP, BC IT WILL BE TO PRICEY JUST FOR CLOUD GAMING... I CAN ALREADY REMOTE PLAY MY PS4 ON MY PHONE AND PC
I really hope they don't do this either. 😭
Tbh I would want this but I want it to be standalone
I agree with you on that one!
No.
💪💪💪
Can you remember the Wii U gamepad? The Qlite is just that for PS5.
Yeah we saw how well that worked out for Nintendo 😁
Very true very true!
Wow, Q-Lite turned from being Less than nothing into an item which somebody may like
But still it's just a ghost of Vita (I hope for now)
True, I guess it'll always be that at least. 😂
Damn it, Q Lite could be great, if it wasn't only remote play... (sorry for bad English)
Hey it's all good, your English is excellent! And yeah I agree, if it were a dedicated handheld it would have a chance of being much more successful!
Well, even if it was not a Remote Play device only, but if it's just a cloud streaming device, then I still hope it fails. What is the point of this device, if our phones can also do it already? Instead, they should focus on a proper handheld console that can do this as 1 of it's features. Not the only feature of the device! I am not interested in a garbage device that can only do cloud gaming when they just outlined that cloud gaming can be done on any modern device. Pointless and brainless! How is it so hard for them to make a new handheld console when they have already done it twice. What they need to fix is their general attitude towards the consumers (especially the PlayStation Handheld market) like how they tried to sell overpriced proprietary memory cards or even now, trying to sell us a stupid device that can't even play games without a strong internet connection. If they continue to double down on this garbage, then, Sony definitely deserves the bashing.
Oh believe me I am definitely with you on that one! I was just saying that if it were cloud-based to be a whole lot better than being a remote play device. Even if neither one are for me.
Love yours vids
Thank you Kaori, your support means the world to me! 🤗
It is confusing indeed I pay for premium with the stream of ps3 games the stream of those are good but some lag and svg sounds like a virus lol
Hahaha! Wouldn't surprise me if it were at this point, and by Sony themselves. XD
Remote Play is awesome on the PS4
I just finished playing new resident evil 4 remake looks awesome play great on my vita it's great when your girlfriend wants to watch TV I can plan my Vita win win
Yes that definitely seems like a win-win situation! 😁
There are a few games on the Switch that are cloud versions, and they work well. The problem is always needing an internet connection making portability difficult or nonexistent.
Yeah and that's the issue here, not everybody has the same internet connection. This just seems like a disaster waiting to happen in my opinion.
Cloud anything isn't a good idea, store your stuff in the cloud and you no longer own it, you're giving it to the cloud service free and clear. Cloud storage is very unsecured. Cloud Gaming is awful, random drops and freezing even with the best internet connection. Remote play also blows, for the same reasons.
Sorry Sony, physical media only, that way its harder for you to steal my paid for games by deleting them.
I'm definitely with you on the physical part! 😁
I'm not a fan of cloud gaming. If it is simply a cloud gaming device, I might have to skip this one. 😢 Though I'll probably get it anyway for collection purposes.
i mean, i hope cloud its just a facet of the console. cuz if thats the case sony will totaly make a more powerful handheld than the vita, and that would be cool to have, imagine full ps2 emulation for example
True, I would pick it up eventually just for the novelty of it. Even if it's not something I would probably use very much in the long run.
So basically they're prolly gonna screw it up again, again..
Yep, that pretty much sums it up.
unless it's smaller than the switch lite and much more powerful, I don't think it's likely to succeed tbh. Nintendo's first party software is just far better than Sony's and the Steam Deck is already like a more powerful switch, so unless it's more convenient than both, I highly doubt it's gonna have a market.
I don't think so either, the only way I could see this succeeding is it if it was at least able to play downloadable games much like the good old PSP Go did.
No one streamed ps3 games to there vita because they pstvd it and made it so only like 5 games work with it
Anyway a handheld that has to be on the internet .. kinda defeats the point of it being a handheld.. I don't have internet when I'm outside doing stuff lol
Also didn't Sony do cloud before with PS Now.. and it totally flopped
I agree, it really needs to be something a bit more simple than having a constant internet connection, which not everybody has.
@@PSVitaat2am it'd be fine for it to have that. Even the vita had a playstation now app. But like should be more than just a streaming box. Then it's just exactly like thousands of other devices tbh
If Sony goes with remote play only, it will be nothing more but expensive PS5 accessories which I doubt would sell well. Even if they make cloud gaming only, I won't be buying it. I will stick with PS5 and Vita for hand held gaming.
You do bring up a good point there. 🤔
They should make a handheld that plays games like the Vita but now with PS3 to Ps5 games 😂(Dream Big!)
Nothing wrong with dreaming. XD
I like to stream my ps4 on vita
It's an underrated feature of the PS Vita that's for sure! 💪
Cloud based. Remote play only. Both are phrases that make me want to vomit.
I'm with you on that one Lester!
If Sony made something like the Switch, I wouldn’t mind doing a backflip and landing on my head. Imagine a Switch-like system with higher specs and with all of the Playstation exclusives. I would foam from the mouth and possibly break into my neighbor’s house.
Got to say I really like your way of thinking Lester!
... clinging to any possible leak and making more of it than needed. Lol
Always man, always! 😁
Uuuuuuh it’s so exciting👌😬
😱😱😱
I think the concept is not bad but they should be like the piazza vita maybe don’t have a physical cartridge to play it by using a micro SD like to therapy or something like that on naked cross compatible and that way do you have the physical game and you can take it anywhere I am would you be in a Wi-Fi area you can play remote Dipronio with this is a good idea but you need to be at home to play something like that they don’t already have you come by some kind of controller for your satellite phone, and that way you can play remote if you don’t have a good signal what’s the point that’s why I had a problem with the PS Vita if you don’t have a good signal you cannot play remote you got to need a similar service or some kind of remote Internet service the 8 inch display that look awesome but if you cannot play your game in the device you see this is why all the things they need tendo swish do very well. You can take it with you duck head at home play it and take it with you and continue playing the same game now it is new device can do that download the game in the device playing around, I return back home I’m playing the PS five task be great but we see
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and opinions on this, very interesting read!
I would only be interested if it worked like game pass stream and download if it cant play games natively no thanks
Agreed! Even though I'm not much of a digital guy, even I will admit I would have a lot more interest in this if I could actually at least download the games.
I don't agree with with the choices that Sony is doing, because it only looks like they're shooting themselves right on the foot. I was telling my wife who's Japanese -American about how I wouldn't buy it because it would be dumbest thing to do. However, she brought a good point. She said it's more gear towards Japan and can't careless what fans like me have to think. Which, It is a valid point.. Just look at the difference when you buy a game in the states vs a game that comes from Japan. It caters more to their own country than any other countries.. So, no point in getting frustrated, why bother?
I know right? The handheld market is on fire yet Sony chooses to do stuff like this. Ugh!
Even with cloud gaming I will still not be purchasing this device. The whole point of handheld gaming is to play on the go at one's convenience. Being connected to the internet at all times defeats the purpose even if you try to add 5G to it (lets face it Vita failed in this department). Phones already do this and more so having this to do the same seems pointless. I am sure some will find uses for this new SONY device, but unless I am able to play any games I want on the go without constant internet connection this device is not for me.
Exactly! I think that if this were at least a downloadable device to play maybe PS4 titles on, I have much more chance for success.
Will this be Sony's attempt at Stadia? See how quickly that platform died?
Good luck if they can even pull that off. 😅
I think you're right on both accounts! 😅
This really isn't good news, either. I don't want a Sony cloud or remote play handheld. I want a physical games handheld.... PLEASE, Sony!
And thank you, James, for another great video!
Hey no problem Edward, I just thought it would make for interesting conversation. 🤔
@@PSVitaat2am It's DEFINITELY worth talking about it. I'm hoping the leak was by Sony and early to test the waters and maybe Sony loans from it.
Stay butthurt as you can't afford this device Nintendo switch fanboy 😂
Hard pass. I too am a collector of games. I'm still playing (and buying) DS, GBA and Vita games almost a a decade or two later.
Physical collectors FTW!
Yeah, sure I’ll get one as soon as you can modify and download PKG 😂
😱😱😱
Naah, it needs physical media or it’s doomed. I wont buy this thing without physical games.
Me either, physical media FTW!
cloud gaming? so still need internet for a portable device? yuk.
Pretty much yeah, or at least that's what it could be.
Yes, but cloud gaming kinda sucks. Lets be honest here. Id rather a 3ds than a cloud gaming handheld that could easily be replaced by any mobile phone.
Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not for cloud-based gaming either. I just think it's the lesser of the evils in the situation. 🤔
Eh, I dunno what to think until we see more
Very fair viewpoint there. 🙂
Oh god, cloud gaming sucks balls and will never, ever be a worthwhile alternative to native games. You simply cannot overcome the laws of physics and make the lag go away, or provide sufficient instant infinite bandwidth to prevent terrible image quality.
Streaming works for video because it doesn't matter if it's behind. It absolutely does if it's a game lol
I agree, I was just saying that it would be the lesser of the evil if it were. 🤔
I'd rather have a new Xperia Play 😁😁😁
