A Latvian Masterpiece: Locost Sports Car Built from Round Tubing
Locost sports cars are being built by enthusiasts around the world, but this build from Latvia is truly something special. Inspired by Chris Gibbs' renowned book, "Build Your Own Sports Car on a Budget", the builders have gone far beyond its guidelines, crafting a completely unique creation.
Instead of following the book's instructions for a traditional space frame made from rectangular mild steel tubing, these talented builders chose to construct their chassis entirely from round tubing. This choice wasn’t just unconventional-it was ambitious. Round tubing demands precision. Every cut, every weld, and every measurement requires extraordinary skill, patience, and dedication. When done right, though, it results in a lightweight yet incredibly strong structure that embodies both engineering excellence and artistic craftsmanship.
In this video, we take an up-close look at the challenges and triumphs of this Latvian Locost build. You’ll see how they tackled:
🔧 The complexities of working with round tubing - from precise cutting and fitting to welding curved joints with perfection.
🛠️ Adapting the Locost design to fit their vision while maintaining structural integrity.
🌍 Their inspiration from the global Locost movement and the creative spirit that drives builders worldwide to innovate.
This build showcases the versatility of the Locost concept: it’s not just about replicating a proven design-it’s about pushing boundaries, experimenting, and making something uniquely your own. Whether you’re a builder, an engineer, or simply a fan of beautiful design and craftsmanship, this project will leave you inspired.
👀 Watch now to witness how Locost ingenuity meets Latvian craftsmanship in this extraordinary project!

      Thanks for the comment.
It’s a slide show and some pics were taken in portrait mode.
Will look to use landscape photos in future

It was from pictures and some were portrait that don't fit or look right as you don't see the full picture and it will appear cropped in full view.
Its same on livestreaming across the world it is better to get everything set up in landscape and also full 1080p or 4k
