@@planesofpaper Hi Rex, Thanks for the kind words. It was an honour to have the opportunity to interview Ron Champion. So many of us instinctively associate the word Locost with Ron Champion but it was great to hear the story of Locost #001 in his own words.
Thankyou for so many hours study and recreation and talking about these cars with motoring mates from Australia. PS this car needs to be in the UK motoring museum next to all the Great Marque's thankyou again
For us (at 7Spot), the story is absolutely everything and this story (Ron’s Locost story) is an important part of automotive history. It was such an honour to meet Ron and Matt to do this interview. As I have said many times before, the best part of the work we do is helping share the stories that our little cars help us tell.
Ron is a very interesting and passionate man and he gave me a lot of his time with his personal involvement modifying my chassis in the driver's footwell to take account of my height when I placed my order. I'll never know what planet he was on in his £250 build cost claim but nonetheless it set the tone for building an interesting and fun car on the cheap which in my case turned out to be about £4000!
Hi Malcolm, Thanks for this! We are planning to expand on his story and would love the opportunity to have a chat with you. Please contact me through my email (on our UA-cam channel home page). Cheers 🥂 Jim
I always wanted to build one from the time the book first came out. But family responsibilities and not knowing how to weld I kept pushing it off. I'm now 72 YO and would still like to build one just to say I did it . The problem I now have is my wife would make me get rid of my Spitfire as I'm not allowed to take up the entire garage .
Great video. Lovely bit of history
Great video. Thanks for making a video about Ron. Very cool. Kind regards Rex Short in NZ.

@@petergracemeguide1280Thank you for your comment and I think you are absolutely right.
Ron has inspired so many to build these great little cars, a real Legend! Thank you Ron.👍👍👍😎
We owe him so much!
Great book - I bought a copy and it led me to kit cars and building an MK Indy. Learnt and enjoyed building the car equally as much as the end result!
exactly my experience too. I read the book and then built my "7" from a kit.
Great Video to hear the History from from the Man himself,I'm sure this will form an important part of History well done.

I remember seeing a Lotus 7 next to a barn and covered in weeds and vines 50 years ago near Spokane Washington.
Fantastic vid!

Interesting! The Locost frame is eerily similar to the Westfield post-litigation bare frame.
