thanks! What a great list showing a who's who of the world's best performers. Thrilling, even now.
Wow thanks for breaking wverything down me..I see Phil Collins in on the instrumentation..wow
Wow, this was very nice of you ❤️
@@PhiliminizzyReacts The fellows who thought of doing these two wonderful concerts (in London AND Philadelphia) did all the work in contacting the performers and organizing the venues. They both were part of 'This Is You Life' in 1988 for Phil Collins (a show from England surprising celebrities and bringing in important people from their lives). Prince Charles (now King Charles) sent a lovely letter apologizing for not being there but wishing Collins all the best and thanking him for all he did with him for charities. Kinda fun show. Here is a link:

Whenever I watch a reaction to this I come to the comments hoping someone wrote down the list 😁 well done ✌
Bro..each and everyone you see are legit legends..this is the ultimate All Star Team..lol. take the time to listen to all of them. The best rabbit hole ever..
The amount of talent gathered there is unreal. Some of the greatest artist ever; some true musical legends. And a message that will never grow old.
I always think, once a reactor has seen this video, their list of artist to visit has just gone up!
Great Reaction!
Thanks Nicole..glad you enjoyed it..more to come ..like and subscribe
So many great musicians in this. As you react to more artists, you'll probably want to go back and watch it again
i probably will Mary.. this song almost made me tear up
Alot of legends there
Number 1 song in the world when it played for the first time.
They actually put out a whole USA for Africa album for famine relief in Ethiopia. Several artists donated songs for the album. One of them was from Steve Perry who donated the song "If Only For The Moment, Girl". You actually reacted to this one a month or so ago. Great song. Thanks and God Bless.
That song was something else ..loved it
Look at “Live Aid” from Wembley - the part with Queen - considered the best live rock performance of all times. Seen by 1.9 billions world wide . Charity for the same famine.
WILL BE UP LATER ON TODAY..LIKE AND SUB FOR THAT REACTION... THANKS
You can see and feel the good will and love. It was a fabulous day for mankind.
(Ethiopia was suffering unprecedented drought and famine, so the funds went there) To pull this together and on such a short notice and to get all these people together was a Herculean effort. There is a documentary out there showing what was done and by whom to organize it and actually pull it off. Just amazing.
A top 5 moment in music history.
Greatest ever, and first ever and nothing like it in the world.
It’s good to know you know some of the people , some don’t know any
Watch the "Making of USA for Africa". Once you know the artists and how famous each and every one of them are/were, you'll watch it again and again. Nevermind the superstars who didn't solo!
💋💋💋
The combination of Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Wonder.....who woulda thought. But wow does it work.
That guy is Bruce Springsteen aka The Boss 🔥
Yesss!🤩Steve Perry - 5:53
Loved your reaction!!
Thanks Anita..I am glad you enjoyed it
Would have loved to also hear Art Garfunkel, Bette Midler, Harry Belafonte, Dan Akroyd, the Lennon Sisters, etc., doing solos.
Who are the Lennon Sisters?
@@elmogamez5434 Sorry, The Pointer Sisters. Lennon Sisters are also a singing group.
They couldn't give solos to everyone. But I would have had Kim Carnes sit that one out. She only sang two words but that's more than what Smokey Robinson and Bette Midler got. The fact that Smokey didn't have a solo was a travesty.
It was famine in Ethopia, Qunincy was the director btw.
SO RIGHT BROTHER, FROM TEXAS.
You would enjoy the documentary on the making of this video. Absolutely wonderful, a must see!!!
Wow..I will check itnout and react to it..Will be up soon..thanks for the suggestion Brenda
Tous des légendes. Masterclass
Bruce et Steevie 😍
The contrast created and the harmonies ❤️🎼❤️✅
I bet
Harry Belafonte, in the top row of the chorus, died just this past week.
There were 45singers that sung this song
People need to do this again, for many things. TY for the reaction!
Great reaction to a great song! I remember when this came out, instant #1 ❤
Btw, your audio sent up is fantastic!! 👌
Thank you so much Christine!! Glad you enjoyed
Some facts about We are the world charity to understand how much people can do with music : Four months after the release( march 7 1985) of "We Are the World", USA for Africa had taken in almost $10.8 million (equivalent to $27 million today).
In June 1985, the first USA for Africa cargo jet carrying food, medicine, and clothing departed for Ethiopia and Sudan.
Since its release, "We Are the World" has raised over $63 million (equivalent to $156 million today) for humanitarian causes.
From the African fund, over 70 recovery and development projects were launched in seven African nations. Such projects included aid in agriculture, fishing, water management, manufacturing and reforestation. Training programs were also developed in the African countries of Mozambique, Senegal, Chad, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, and Mali.
So some of the money raised made it there instead of just to the warlords! That's really Good to hear! I had always heard that all the warlords in Africa had intercepted everything. I knew a LOT of $$ was raised so was disappointed that none of it made it to them. I was also 9 almost 10 at the time so it's been just a little while. Lol
@@lianabaddley8217 No! Now you are disrespectful! And NEVER talk or write negative shit about things you know NOTHING about!
@@susannepalm9740 I'm sorry. I was not trying to be. I was honestly surprised and excited to hear about everything you wrote about. I hadn't thought about the money continuing to come in. I am planning on looking into it now though. I am Really sorry if anyone was offended by my 10 year old memories.
It was good that quincy Jones left a message at the door saying all ego's left here
The vast majority of reactors say, "who is that?" when Bruce Springsteen starts singing. 😀
😉
I was 9 when this song came out in 1985. USA for Africa recorded it for free because Ethiopia, was experiencing a severe famine at the time.Through the sale of the album, I think USA for Africa raised about 65 million dollars, which they then donated to various charities that could provide relief.
I used to know all the lyrics, because our music teacher would always have us sing it in class. It always felt special to hear it played.
wow...nice
the G.O.A.T. artists in the A&M Records Studio include: Lionel Ritchie, Stevie Wonder, MJ, Paul Simon, Kenny Roger's, Al Jarrau, Tina Turner, Billy Joel, Dionne Warwick, Willie Nelson, James Ingrham, Bruce Springsteen, Darryl Hall, John Oates (backup vocals only),Huey Lewis (without the News), Cyndi Lauper, Kim Karnes, Bob Dylan, Kenney Loggins, Steve Perry, backup vocals from Randy Jackson, Latoya Jackson, Tito Jackson, a few of the Pointer Sisters, Bette Midler, Dan Ackroyd, Smokey Robinson, Harry Belafonte, & the legendary Ray Charles, playing his Hammond Organ & providing inspiring backup & lead vocals, as well !! ❤😊🎤 😊♥ #weAreTheWorld
Really enjoyed your reaction 😀
Glad you enjoyed
Dione Warwick the Aunt from Whitney Houston
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️
80's Heavy Metal artists did a similar charity album for the hearing impared. It was called "Hear N' Aid". Check out their song "We're Stars". Trust.
The guy singing with Stevie Wonder is Bruce Springsteen
The song was written by James Ingram (the Man that sung right after Kenny Rogers) MJ AND Lionel Richie.
The credits say MJ and Richie.
There was a major famine in Ethiopia. The charity projects aimed at relief began with Band Aid in the UK ("Do They Know It's Christmas?") which led directly to Live Aid. During 1985, USA for Africa recorded "We Are the World", and the Canadian supergroup The Northern Lights did "Tears Are Not Enough".
I've seen a lot of reaction channels watch this & they pretty much fail the first time knowing the singers. Then they revisit it like a year later & they know almost everyone! You should revisit it in a year & you'll be surprised how much you've learned.
Some of the artists off the top of my head....Bruce Springsteen, Cyndi Lauper, Dion Warwick, James Ingram, Daryll Hall, John Oates, Kenny Logins, Kim Carnes, Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Bob Dillon(I'm forgetting some)
Then you were right with Lionel Ritchie, MJ, Ray Charles, Steve Perry, & I think you got a couple more.
thank you Stella for filling me in on the artistes..this song is beautiful
Dylan
Yes ....in one day they did this they brought together who was available that's why each had scripts in there hands Michael brought them together for 1 day
This is a link to the “We are the World” video but with names when the artist sings their lines. That way you can see who they are
ua-cam.com/video/CJ6WGN8WH3Y/v-deo.html
Thanks Christian I will take a look and give my opinion on it..well noted
The boss Bruce Springsteen.
Some of the singers, aside from who you mentioned and in the comments, are Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Willie Nelson, Kenny Loggins, Daryl Hall and John Oates, Huey Lewis, Cyndi Lawper, Kim Carnes, Bob Dylan and Ray Charles
i am sure there is a lot more..thank you Mary for letting me know a few
Diana Ross,Cyndi Lauper,Kim Carmes,Willie Nelson,Bruce Springsteen Tina Turner,Bob Dylan,Ray Charles,Steve Wonder Lionel Ritchie,Michael Jackson....
First reactor that's knew Paul Simon nice
The man who sang before Steve Perry is Kenny Loggins. He and Steve talked about making a song together, so after this, they recorded Don't Fight It together. A rocking good song.
ua-cam.com/video/XBd4mXjAOlU/v-deo.html
Thanks Dianna.. I will take a listen.suggestion well noted
Steve and Kenny recorded Don't Fight It in 1982. They were already friends and collaborators by this time.
Phil Collins name is missing. But having performed in the London concert earlier in the day, Phil flew to NY on the Concorde jetliner and helicoptered to Philadelphia to perform in the USA concert too. He found he was too exhausted to wait until the end of this huge world wide TV concert and had to leave, missing this recording. But he more than did his part for the fund raiser!
Phil Collins on there would have been epic..
@@PhiliminizzyReacts Phil sings solo with only his own piano accompaniment. He flubs one note, smiles and then is back into the song. He also sings a duet with Sting. You can hear they had not had time to practice, but pull it together towards the end. The crowd loves it, of course.
Phil Collins was on drums that why you didn't see him.
@@lindarogers2271 Creston, Iowa native John Robinson was the drummer on “We Are the World.” Look it up.
Mr Phil Collins was the drummer in the video for the inspiration for the USA for Africa project. Check out ' Do They Know It's Christmas'
Another good 1 is Blake Shelts I want to go home featuring usher
Quincy Jones the one directing them choose for the most part who got parts or not. He also hung a sign on the door leave all attitudes and egos outside of this room.
It was like the dream team USA it will never ever happen again peoples hearts are tooooooo selfish today.
I read someplace that the account for this, We are the world, still receives money going into it. Since 85’ wow
Really? 85 is a long time ago..I am sure the account has millions by now
this was for the children of uganda during the Famon.
U doing well bro keep the fire burning.
Officer the bet no play oo
Bruce Springsteen - Tougher than the rest 💯💯
He is called 'The Boss' I hear
Some of the other artists actually laughed at him because he went with the "tough" voice on a finesse song. It was so out of place, I could never stand it.
Can't believe you missed Tina, even my teenage daughters know her.
Not many people know Paul Simon of Simon & Gurfankel.i am impressed. I beilieve this was at Kenny Rogers studio. Someone can correct me if I am Wrong.
I didn't know but I do know now no one should have to starve anywhere in the world
Do yourself a favor and watch the documentary on the making of this video. It is amazing how this all came together.
Well noted..I will do that Lisa..Will be up on the channel tomorrow..like ans subscribe for more
What was going on in much of Africa, especially Ethiopia, was drought and famine.

Bruce Springstèn.
This was made after Bob Geldof asked Quincy Jones to lead the American effort on African aid. Many of the credits are in en.wikipedia.org/wiki/We_Are_the_World.
Written by Michael Jackson + Lionel Richie.
Underrated. After the call-and-answer from Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Wonder, notice the ascending vocal belt from the late James Ingram. Singers like Morissette Amon use this technique.
RIP to the fallen.
The only non-American singing is Dan Akroyd. He is Canadian 🍁, from Toronto, ONT. David Foster, of Victoria, BC, wanted him to sing for the Canadian effort for African relief but American actress Donna Dixon, and wife of DA, and Quincy Jones convinced him otherwise. Some gentle jabbing that two producer/writer QJ did! They still remain friends! LOL
Suggested next video:
Tears Are Not Enough performed by Northern Lights. This is the Canadian supergroup conducted by David Foster. Bryan Adams, Anne Murray, Geddy Lee + Neil Young are some of the singers. 🇨🇦

Funny you knew Paul Simon (whom I LOVE) but not Bruce Springsteen ... As a German who was never too interested in the who is who, but liked good music, I don't know a lot of those folks - but it really confuses me, how even Americans do or don't know some people (and it is fascinating how that changes through generations now, of curse).
Anyway, good reaction!
Bro lt ls ,my bro Ua
Tina Turner Billy Joel
Kind of funny, don't bother me for that... I'm Austrian, no kangaroos, 50 and from Europe, but the Guy who sang next to Stevie has to be known. The Boss himself, "Born in the USA" , Bruce Springsteen. Is this realy possible nowadays?!? I apologize, if I'm wrong on my opinion...
Honestly he didn't look familiar and I have never heard any of his songs but I plan to
