Any tips on timing an Uber to catch a ride after the end of a concert at a smaller venue? The show lets out I am assuming after 10 at night in Chicago...this country boy doesn't want to stand around much outside the theater for long. Never been to a large city....so this will be interesting, haha.

Thanks so much for this guide. Uber is the app that makes it all happen but you realise there is no real instructions when you look at their website. Both drivers and especially customers seem to have to wing it to learn how it works. Nothing or nobody explained this to me before I switched to Uber from hailing cabs. This helps quite a bit, just wish there were more pax sharing their experiences as well.

Do you pay right when you get a pickup
The ride is charged to your card once the ride has been completed. If you aren't ready to leave and the driver cancels the trip, the cancellation fee may be charged right away - but if it's a normal ride, you will be charged at the end .
Is there a way to get a Fare price before a trip? I dont have an Uber account yet, but everyone tells me Uber will be cheaper. So how do I get a Fare Price before my first ride with Uber?

You can't tip through the app with uber but you can leave cash.

why should I have to pay more if uber decided not to get enough drivers
From what I understand the 1st ride is free. I must have order the Uber ride about 5 times and it never shows up. Is it cause I need to add my credit or debit card 1st.
You will need to add your card, so that could be the reason.

No you'll still be charged at least the minimum fare.
Why do both promo codes say the same thing and one part says its $20 off and the other says $5 off the first ride? Also, how do u request a carseat and how much?
In some markets, Uber is giving $5 off to new passengers per ride up to $20 (so you'd take 4 rides with $5 off). In the majority of markets, you can't request a car seat so you'll need to bring your own.
So I am at the Airport and I don't know the address of where I am at. How do I tell the driver that I want to be picked up in front of the United or Frontier or Southwest drop off / pickup area?
Can I talk to the driver over the phone and just tell them which pickup area I will be at?
Usually the Uber app will have you select the terminal/pick up point and you can call/text your driver - it's in our video.

How come I don't see the Uber Black option? Does that mean there are no "black" cars in my area? Do I have to sign up for black? Please advise. Thanks!
There's no separate sign-up process that I'm aware of, so that likely means it's not available in your area. Make sure your app is up to date though, just in case!

Nope. If you happen to spot an Uber/Lyft driver waiting for rides, say hello and introduce yourself - they might be willing to do an "off-app" ride for cash. Be aware that Uber and Lyft obviously frown upon this, and it's a risk to the driver because of legal/insurance/safety concerns, so YMMV.

Best way to use uber is to uninstall it and get lyft.

It is applied after you take your first trip :) If any problems, Uber will adjust the fare though.

Thanks for this video. I'm an uber driver or partner however you want to phrase it and I was a little confused on how it worked on the customer end. But why do I constantly get rides that are 23+ minutes away? Any videos to answer that one haha.
Are you in a smaller city? You may want to try driving during different times or places as those long ETA rides are not good for your bottom line :)

Yeah it's a smaller city. And I have moved on locations but I have realized that this is happening a lot at night. But I had a friend look at the Uber Rider app and noticed that I am the only one on at night. Which may be why.

Let's say if you just wanna go get something and pick it up it will take less than 2 minutes and you need the ride back home can i do that, also I know that I will have to pay so I will do that.
Yea that should be fine, just tell the driver to leave the app on while you run inside. As long as it's just a couple minutes, the driver shouldn't mind.

I don't have kids yet so I'm a bit biased but honestly I think 99% of the time it would be fine. But there is maybe a tiny percentage of drivers where I wouldn't feel comfortable, especially if it was a 16 year old girl.

Uber is testing 'scheduled rides' in some cities but basically all it does is just initiate the request for you at a certain time. So no not really. Check out Wingz though - therideshareguy.com/wingz
can I use uber if I only have a device I use on WiFi? I have a basic phone I use for emergencies and I can't get apps on it, only my tablet I use on WiFi.

the app says EXCELLENT if you give 5 stars what does it say one 4 stars? My guess is it says Good and passengers are seeing that and thinking 4 is good when in fact it says the driver should lose his or her job.

one day I took a lady whom clamed to be an uber executive. she have tons of complements, and said everything was great. . . except I didn't notice number of 5 star ratings change. (yes, they try to mask it, but I tried to give it x number of passengers, and even logged off for a week. no change.) it wasn't the best week 4.15 or so and the following week back to normal 4.89
Yea they should but the avg rating is 4.8 according to Uber, so I think most riders rate accordingly.

um, I hate this!
rely more on the pin, and drag it to the exact spot you will be waiting, and make sure you are there when the driver gets close.
if the address is different than uber thinks, text the driver with your actual address, business name/entrance, and other unique info that might help if you are in a unique/odd/confusing location.
entering an address in the app is horrible if the app has the address for the pin wrong. uber, wase, and google maps all use the google database. log directly into the google map (mobile or desktop), and update the address. I.e. building numbers for large apartment complexes.
because the maps use the same data, and the apps take you to the pin, and once I get there, I look for you by the pin.
yes move it if the gps is not getting it right, it's horrible to be looking a block or two away.
just the other day, someone entered their address. that took me to the driveway for their complex. with no one there, I proceded to enter the complex and look for the building number. without a pin placed, I was driving blind. it turns out the rider is kinda used to that, and was not even waiting at his building.... instead he was in the clubhouse.
not texting me that he would be in the clubhouse, I had to double back after halfway to his building. all the drivers could bee-line to his building if they could see a pin on the building. heck, if you tell google the pin location for your building number, it would have been accurate to begin with.
again, be where the pin has you. move it if need be, and text special info like where you will be waiting, and what you will be wearing.
True - it makes more sense to use the pin in big complexes and places like that, but normally if you're just at a house, the address is better imo. But it does depend on the situation..

+R Kurtz yes so true. Sprint and Verizon don't enable voice and data at the same time. LTE was supposed to fix that. some phones used to do it on Sprint, then they figured it out. alas, what's the point of unlimited data if you can't use it because you take calls.
